November 18, 20213 yr 17 hours ago, DaEagles4Life said: Democrats may blow campaign promises and give the rich a big tax cut in Biden spending bill: 'We couldn't be giving Republicans a better gift' The plan designates $285 billion to raise the state and local tax deduction to $80,000 from its current level of $10,000, reversing a part of President Donald Trump's 2017 tax law called the SALT cap. It's the single largest program within the House package, set to last through 2026. After that, there would be no limit until 2031, when the $10,000 cap would be reimposed. Put plainly, this law would allow Americans to write off up to $80,000 in state and local taxes from their federal taxes. Democrats swept into power promising new taxes on the rich, but their maneuvering to get the bill over the finish line could hand the rich a hefty tax cut that dwarfs any for low-income Americans. "It would be preposterous if this legislation ends up cutting taxes for the wealthiest people in America," Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado told Insider. "It doesn't make any sense at all." A recent analysis from the Tax Policy Center found the House legislation would deliver a tax cut for families earning between $500,000 and $1 million roughly nine times larger than for those earning between $50,000 and $75,000. That was echoed by another analysis last week from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. https://news.yahoo.com/democrats-may-blow-tax-promises-153350703.html So where’s all this communism we were promised?

November 18, 20213 yr president biden saving americans' lives. you're damn right it's true! Quote President Joe Biden on Thursday said the U.S. has bought 10 million courses of Pfizer’s Covid treatment pill, an oral antiviral medication that was highly effective in preventing hospitalization among high-risk adults in a clinical trial. The pill, Paxlovid, could fundamentally change the fight against the virus, providing physicians with a drug that patients can at take home after infection. A highly effective at-home treatment could help reduce the stress that hospitals have faced throughout the pandemic, particularly during the recent wave of delta infections. "My administration is making the necessary preparations now to ensure these treatments will be easily accessible and free,” Biden said in a statement. "This is positive news. This treatment could prove to be another critical tool in our arsenal that will accelerate our path out of the pandemic.”

Watch - the main ingredient will be - C48H74O14 - PubChem Oh FFS, again with this big pharma BS? Yes, breakthrough life-saving treatments for a novel, highly contagious, and potentially deadly virus are expensive. Why, you might ask? Because it takes a ton of resources to research and develop them. Pfizer invests $10B annually in R&D, with very, very few of the projects panning out to the point where they can be offered on the market to help turn a profit. No, they're not hurting for money by any stretch, and yes, that's a boost to their bottom line, but it's not like it's this textbook example of crony capitalism you trumpbots think it is. The pill actually works (really F'ing well), and the demand for it would be a tiny fraction of what it is now if morons would get vaccinated like they're supposed to in the first place. The share price today is up only 10% from their previous high in 2018. And if you want to compare apples with apples, an infusion of mAbs is $2k and they're not as effective as this pill, so the take away should be to get off your ass and go get vaccinated, and encourage others to do the same, instead of queefing about big pharma being in bed with the government.

And I didn't allege an equivalence only an incomplete picture. 5 Republican senators are retiring, and 1 Dem senator (the 80 year old Leahy) In the house you have 9 Dems and 4 Republicans resigning. Most of the Dems are of retirement age, while 3 of 4 Republicans are under 50. If you want to engage on the merits I would appreciate it, truly. If you're just going to fall back to ad hominems and passive aggressive remarks we can save some time.

I get the need to fight for IP rights, but there are plenty of cases where they overstep their bounds and wade into territory that inevitably leads to deceptive practices.
