Funny story, I ended up in a small, old-time German deli recently when Christmas shopping. I was in line ordering stuff and realized I only had a few bucks on me. I had actually been thinking earlier in the day that the place probably didn't take cards and to hit up the ATM, but I forgot and I was right: they didn't take cards. For some reason, I had a single blank check on me, though. I think it was from a month earlier when I was going to a shop somewhere and brought it in case I wanted to throw money down or something. I was surprised that she said "cash and checks," because my thought was actually "No one takes checks anymore, why the hell am I still carrying around this check?" Saved my life in that moment, lol.

I can't remember actually writing a check out, I know I have but I can't remember. Last time I even used one was a bank check.

Could you explain why EVERY apartment building in the world has at least one guy/gal who feel the need to make all of the hallways smell like that for eternity? Is it a coordinated effort?

January 7, 20224 yr 11 minutes ago, Outlaw said: The Hill says otherwise This is based on the labor department, which seems to lag. Take a look at this from the above article: Quote The Labor Department also revised October and November’s job gains up by a combined 141,000 jobs—the latest major upward correction of a disappointing initial report. This is what has been happening every month: the Labor Department releases a "disappointing report", and in the following months there are corrections as more data comes in that revises them steadily up towards original expectations. The official labor report has become very lagging. In November the ADP report beat expectations, coming in at 534k when 505k was expected. The December ADP report doubled expectations. The Labor Department numbers slowly seem to catch up. As a huge payroll firm, ADP can report much more quickly and accurately because unlike the Labor Department they don't have to aggregate data from 100s (1,000s?) of disparate data sources. The caveat is that they are an incomplete picture, because they only represent a subset of the workforce, but it's a very very significant sample and likely to be representative as ADP runs payroll for every vertical. The fact that unemployment is down while labor participation has either been going up or been flat (Nov -> Dec it was flat) would suggest there are more jobs being created than this Labor Department report is indicating, and that we can expect additional upward revisions of December numbers to be announced in Feb and March.
