I thought that number would be higher.  Especially after I saw a poll just the other day that 24% of Democrats want him to run.  Because I imagine 100% of republicans want to see him be the nominee.  

I would think it would be common sense for everyone to want two competent candidates in case their guy loses, but it doesn't seem many people think that way.

If they were smart (ha), Republicans should want Harris, Bernie, or any other number of Democrats to run instead. Biden is one of the few viable candidates that can beat Trump. So many others are DOA right outta the gate.

It's still cute how people think the gop nominee isn't going to be Trump. He's already said he's going to announce. He trouncing every other republican in the polls. His party will cancel the primaries for him like they did in 2020. The democrats know Biden is their best chance at beating him. Stop denying reality. It's going to be Biden vs. Trump...again. No matter how much you want to wish it away.

I wasn't considering the GOP nominee (please not Trump) with that statement.  I just think having a candidate with some of the lowest approval ratings in my lifetime and is acting strokey without having an actual stroke would be cannon fodder.

just like in 2020, people will unenthusiastically vote for biden if he's running against the compete disaster that is trump...but i think most of us would prefer someone who wasn't born in the f'n 1940's.

It's a stupid poll. When asked who they'd rather have, half responded "someone else" or "I don't know". People are fantasizing that there's someone better out there. That JFK is going to arrive from 1960 via time machine. There is no one else. People just don't follow politics closely enough to realize it.

Its going to be Trump. If the republicans were smart they would have worked with the democrats to bar him from holding office. They'd win easy. The republicans are even stupider than the democrats, which is why they will lose.

I guess. I've just been saying it since before Biden was sworn in as president. People said I was nuts. I should have bet @ToastJenkins for more than a few beers  I'm just gloating about being right.

Republicans love Manchin (unless he switched parties and ran against Trump). The nice way to put it, is that the democrats are a big tent party. The reality is that they are a loosely connected coalition (cluster F is more like it) of progressives, traditional union democrats,  gay rights activists, woke socialists, a few centrists, and people who hate Trump and have nowhere else to go (most of us here who identify as democrat). It's almost impossible to get all of those various groups to line up behind one candidate. The fact that Biden pulled it off is something he isn't given enough credit for. 

I'm not sure there's a candidate more vilified in his own party than Manchin. I would have a better chance in the dem primary than he does.
