I guess. I've just been saying it since before Biden was sworn in as president. People said I was nuts. I should have bet @ToastJenkins for more than a few beers :D I'm just gloating about being right. :D

I can’t tell if moderate Republicans actually respect Trump or if they think putting him up as a candidate in 2024 is the best path to winning the election.  It’s truly bizarre.

  • While I disagree with Biden trying to save these idiots from themselves, it just proves what a wonderful human being he is. IMO we should encourage Trumpbots to all give each other Covid so they die o

The counter argument is that Trump has 49% of gop support in the polls. The problem is that DeSantis is second at around 25%. The republicans only shot of having another nominee is having primaries and doing what the democrats did. Line up behind one person and give the primary voters a choice between Trump and that person. They're too stupid for any of that though.

I'm not sure there's a candidate more vilified in his own party than Manchin. I would have a better chance in the dem primary than he does.

The only people that like him are the WVA coal companies that fund his campaigns.

i'm curious if any of the cvon "regulars" voted trump in 2016 and biden in 2020.  or if any voted hillary in 2016 and trump in 2020.

anybody here flip their vote in 2020?

Its going to be Trump. If the republicans were smart they would have worked with the democrats to bar him from holding office. They'd win easy. The republicans are even stupider than the democrats, which is why they will lose.

And McConnel saying a nation wide ban is a possibility if they get a majority. We will see that running on ads non stop in a few months. Already seeing some of it here in PA.

I was already seeing ads here saying "the GOP wants to force rape victims to carry to term" and that was before the news broke of this 10-year old girl broke.

I was fairly indifferent in 2016. Then I started getting worried. It was the only time I was ever undecided days before the election. I was trying to decide between Johnson and Clinton. I hated Hillary but thought she was better than Trump. Trump turned out to be way worse than I thought. Some of it (like the stupid crap he says about raking forests to prevent wild fires) and even weaponizing the DOJ to go after political enemies was expected. Threatening to withhold foreign aid to try to get a foreign country to interfere in our election and trying to stay in power after his term was up  surpassed even my fears. Should he be allowed back in office, I'm sure he will once again top anything I can come up with.

That story about the 10yo is going to haunt them. When my wife told me, I didn't believe it. I thought it had to be made up.

It's likely that the guy who's crushing every other GOP candidate in the polls will get the nomination? Dude, no way, man. What's next? You're gonna tell me Jalen Hurts won't lead us to a second Super Bowl title?

I stated my preference. There is another thread to talk about him.

Expecting Trump not to be brought up in the Biden thread a day after Trump literally confirmed he is running again is peak CVON.

I know it shouldn't be funny, but it kinda is in a dark, twisted way. What should be reserved for an SNL skit is now close enough to reality to pass for a legitimate campaign ad.

If some of you were given an ink blot test it would be Trump, Trump, Trump's hair.

Says the guy who just got done telling us Trump will probably get his vote again despite Trump's disgusting attempt to overturn an election and subvert the nation's most sacred principle of governance. But you wanna act like we're the ones that have an unhealthy obsession? You're on a roll this morning.

I wasn't considering the GOP nominee (please not Trump) with that statement.  I just think having a candidate with some of the lowest approval ratings in my lifetime and is acting strokey without having an actual stroke would be cannon fodder.

Trump supporters want ANYONE other than Biden. Biden remains Trump's kryptonite for 2 reasons. First, despite his approval ratings, people still like him and his personal favorability is way better than Trump's. Second, all the attacks on Biden are worse for Trump -- competency, nepotism, health, etc. Trump would beat anyone else most likely, but he can easily lose again to Biden.

I think Biden runs if it is Trump. If it's not Trump, maybe he steps aside knowing he would lose.

That you would ever consider voting for that abject failure of a human being again speaks far more than your "preference" would ever imply.

What's crazy is that all the power in the next election is in the hands of the Republicans.  Dems have a very thin bench, so if anyone other than Trump gets the Rep nod and Biden steps aside, the Dems will almost certainly nominate an extremely weak candidate and the Reps will coast.  But if the Reps are dumb enough to let Trump waltz in and claim the nod, Biden will stay in and Trump will likely lose.  But of course, that's exactly what they're going to do because they're in a cult.
