July 31, 20223 yr Fauci had the same pax rebound, not sure why the FDA isn't pushing to extend it to a 10-day course.

I dont know what they have discovered after the drug has been in use for some time now. But I remember very early on reading that it was causing rebound infections, and that the rebound infection was worse than the initial infection. If that holds true, then I think it comes down to just how sick you mean by "pretty Fing sick". If this seems like a truly life threatening thing, then you take life saving measures now, and hope for the best. Supposedly it only results in rebound infections in around 5% of people. Hopefully it doesnt rebound, and hopefully its not actually worse on the rebound. But if pretty Fing sick just means really achy, bad headache, and fever, then I think you let it run its course and you obviously dont want it to come back even worse than that next time. Deal with the fly like symptoms and move on. Probably a case by case thing.

I’ve always thought that the real risk was when it gets into the lungs, and he’s not there. Yet. We’ve known that we’re going to get it sooner or later, but he’s the first in our clan to have it so it’s probably a bit of over caution on my part. Hopefully he’ll start to feel better tomorrow.

I have heard this latest variant is like that. The previous one was a lot like a sinus infection, but this one is much more flu like and sticks around for a bit. However, Id not expect him to take a turn for the worse. Still doesnt seem to be settling in to the lower respiratory. 5 minutes ago, JohnSnowsHair said: Best wishes for a speedy recovery man. this

I took Paxlovid and felt better in a day. No negative side effects. Best of luck to you and your family - hoping for a speedy recovery for your son.

Exactly what happened to me and my wife and to many others we know who have caught it over the last two months. Typically, the no energy thing was 48-72 hours. Overall some lingering crap but the main event was over after three days. Hope he is better today.

Regarding paxlovid for him, it's not likely you'd be able to get him a script for it anyways unless he was considered an at-risk patient by his doc. Current eligibility criteria is anyone over 65 or those with underlying conditions that make them high-risk for severe disease. Same case for mAbs unfortunately due to how omicron rendered most of them ineffective, but if he's not better by later today or tomorrow, don't hesitate to call the doc and get their thoughts. They'd still give him dexamethasone they'd consider if they think he's past the initial surge and need to modulate his immune response.
August 1, 20223 yr Mobilizing FEMA to get shots in arms COVID relief bill Infrastructure deal Chips and Science Act (semiconductor bill that boost production of chips here in the US; Intel is already building a new plant in Ohio, and it appears the midwest will be a prime beneficiary of this) And finally, if the reconciliation bill passes the review by the Senate parliamentarian and get Sinema's vote, a bill that: reduces the deficit primarily through a minimum corporate tax rate, more vigorous enforcement of the tax code, and Medicare being able to negotiate pricing requires the Department of the Interior to offer at least 2 million acres of land each year for oil and gas lease sales incentivizes renewables and nuclear power (https://www.politico.com/news/2022/07/28/manchin-oil-gas-biden-schumer-climate-bill-00048514) The above are a list of real (and likely, with regards to the reconciliation deal) legislative accomplishments during Biden's first 20 months or so. This in addition to confirming more federal judges in his first year than any president going back to at least Reagan (Reagan did manage 40 in his first year, but Biden had 42). Objectively, it's a pretty good list of accomplishments considering the Senate is 50/50 and the filibuster is still in place. Regarding the reconciliation bill, I'm not a fan at all of the minimum corporate tax rate, nor am I huge on giving Medicare more pull. But I'm very happy with the energy side, which provides a balance of benefits that should help the fossil fuel industry (while still keeping on pressure to be good citizens environmentally) while giving green and nuclear a little love. You can agree or disagree with which parts of the above are good and bad to varying degrees, but a LOT has been accomplished, and a lot of what was passed is forward thinking - the benefits of those bills are going to be with us a long time. They're not just some sugar rush tax bill jammed through at the end of a year full of failed legislative attempts (like, uh, in 2017).

I really don't get the point of it. But once she made it public, it would be a bigger mistake to cave to CCP pressure and not go. Just kinda dumb all the way around -- needlessly creating tension for no tangible benefit.
