When he said we would need oil for another 10 years or whatever it was he mumbled about raising the cost of frisigzumnig jobs. Then the left cheered. Cheered what exactly, who knows, because it was not a word in the English dictionary. But they cheered!! The best part was when he made republicans come out in favor of preserving medicare and social security

What exactly are you thankful for from Biden? Genuine curiosity. 1. Standing up to Russian agressian 2. Strengthening NATO 3. Not suggesting we inject bleach, rake forests to prevent wildfires, and nuke hurricanes I could go on but you get the idea

Just answer the ukn question. Because those are our choices. If the republicans want to nominate a sane person like Mitt Romney or Liz Cheney, I would welcome that discussion.

What exactly are you thankful for from Biden? Genuine curiosity. Welp, he's not actively attempting to subvert democracy, for one. Not as mentally ill or as incompetent as his opponent/predecessor either. The rest is just gravy. Expectations weren't exactly set very high though.

Just answer the ukn question. Ya it's super weird that anyone would compare Biden to his presumptive opponent in an election that's happening next year. You clowns made a deal with the devil back in 2016, pushed out virtually every single sane member of the party since then, and now you gotta deal with the fallout of that. Maybe you'll eventually learn in 2028, but I doubt it.
February 8, 20232 yr The really weird part is that even today, so many still pretend Trump was great, and not a complete dewshberry whose goal was lining his pockets.

Can Biden not be spoken about on his own merit? I'm not looking for a comparison to Trump or anyone else. I want to know about Biden. What has HE done to help this country? Because from what I see, everything is messed up. Everything is ridiculously expensive, from eggs to houses. People are struggling like I haven't seen in years. I'm not saying it's Bidens fault. But it is the world we live in. I don't know a single person that's doing better now then they were 3..5..10 years ago. It feels like all the work that has been done since 2008 has been wrecked. Who's fault? No idea. But he's in charge right now, so he gets the finger pointed to him.

Every POTUS is compared to his predecessor. We’re heard "but Obama” for 4 years and were told how much better it was under trump. Most on here who give Biden credit for how the economy appears to be recovering, do so to trigger MAGA.

He got infrastructure passed. Trump tried. Obama tried. W tried. They all failed. Biden succeeded with bipartisan support. He got bipartisan gun legislation passed. No one, I mean, no one would have thought that possible before it happened. The chips act was also bipartisan and also huge. We were completely dependent on foreign manufacturing for cars and cell phones. Biden is a horrible speaker so he doesn't get credit for how much he actually does. He's all steak and no sizzle. It's all about getting legislation passed, and he's done a ton of it.

And spare me the indignation over comparisons to Trump. That's the guy Biden will be running against so they'll continue to be made for the next two years and are perfectly valid. If that bothers you so much, then maybe you should've nominated someone else.
February 8, 20232 yr I didn't like the substance of the speech personally. The appeals to "made in America" which just puts handcuffs and a hefty price tag on infrastructure improvements we desperately need. Calls to raise taxes on big businesses. But the guy baited the right and they bit hard on that hook. It made the right look like the crazies they are. So on that it was politically a pretty good sotu.

Sorry but it is. We all shouldn't be paying a higher effective rate than Amazon. The pandemic and the invasion of Ukraine shows why we need more of a focus on domestic production. We can't be held hostage by tyrants overseas for our basic needs.

Objectively .... we want as much business here in the states as possible. That means that the best way to ensure long term growth and stability, because business is the engine for that, is to have zero business taxes and transfer all tax to labor. I'm a proponent of personal income tax across the board regardless of source (labor, capital gains, inheritance, what the crap ever) along with a modest VAT, and zero corporate tax. Encourages companies to operate here. Doesn't give those with passive income a leg up on people producing for a living. And encourages some measure of savings (lack of VAT is one of the reasons we're more consumption oriented than other advanced nations). Keep essentials like food and clothing out of the VAT and I think you have a nice system.

February 9, 20232 yr Further, if you continue to tax capitol at a lower rate than labor you're going to get an ever widening income inequality gap. It's unsustainable. Not to sound all PFFB on you, but at some point the under class will rise up. It's unsustainable. This is why we will elect retarded game show hosts who tell people they can fix all of their problems.

I specifically said that capital gains and labor taxes should be synchronized. Vikas won't like that, but if we're going to tax income and zero out corporate tax is has to be fair. So apply dollars realized at the household level equally regardless of source.
