July 8, 20241 yr He just played one of the few cards he had left in his hand. This will make it challenging to replace him from a messaging standpoint. It's setting up to be a case of self-sabotage if they push him out now for Harris or anyone else.
July 8, 20241 yr This is setting up the Dems for their usual inept job of aligning. Whatever route they choose it must be coordinated if they are to keep Trump out of the WH. I’m not a Kamala fan but if she is the one then let’s all get onboard.

I'm sorry, but this just comes off as pop pop refusing to go to the nursing home and insisting he can still drive.

If Democrats lose in November and Trump gets back into power, Biden will be remembered in history as the senile old goof who stubbornly refused to do what was best for his country and step aside. He'll be 82 years-old on November 20 and, IMO, it's an absurdity he's running for re-election. Say what you want about polling numbers, but polls have been very consistent for a long time that a vast majority of the electorate thinks he's too old to run. Democrats have waited far too long to start listening to their voters, and there's very little enthusiasm right now for Biden at the top of the ticket. Biden running for a second term in office never should have been part of the calculus.

To a degree, sure, but the most reliable voting bloc are comprised of old people who bristle at the thought that they'll be in a similar position themselves. And for those who are really pining for a Harris presidency, voting for Biden is still more or less a vote for Harris. Or at least that's the way I see it. If during the next four years, he's genuinely no longer able to do the job due to a legit medical issue, then Harris is waiting in the wings to take over anyhow.

They will be rolling the dice no matter so in my mind their best chance is to take away his keys and let someone else drive. All of the "experts" I've read say "he will be the last to identify and acknowledge the seriousness of his personal issues".

Oh yeah, there's no way he can finish his 2nd term if he were to win. I just want to win. I want the best chance to win, which in my opinion isn't him. He's also playing a dangerous game with his legacy. If he stays in and loses, he will forever be known as the stubborn old guy who gave the country away to Trump and project 2025.
