Sure but none of that is reason to start a never ending arms race of expanding numbers of SCOTUS justices.

That "arms race" started well before this episode, but I guess that's a moot point by this juncture.

  • While I disagree with Biden trying to save these idiots from themselves, it just proves what a wonderful human being he is. IMO we should encourage Trumpbots to all give each other Covid so they die o

Republicans already packed the courts.  You’re like 5 years late with this post.

Childish rationalization

they did not expand the court and used the established processes

Not really.

The President appoints judges and the Senate confirms them.  To simply not vote at all is unconstitutional, not to mention undemocratic.

I'm still trying to figure out how the SCOTUS wronged them so badly they need to make it another branch of congress to right it.

Again, two wrongs don’t make a right. I was as loud as anyone in here in bishing about Mitch back in 2016 but escalation of numbers you’re willing to contemplate is far worse and very dangerous.

Note: I can get behind the commission if the bullet regarding "size of the court" were removed.

What is court packing?

Simply put, court packing refers to the process of Congress adding more seats to the Supreme Court in an effort to secure a majority.

Since 1869, there have been nine seats in the United States Supreme Court, but that number is subject to change. The Constitution grants Congress the power to either add or subtract seats; the Supreme Court has seen as few as five justices and as many as 10 throughout its 231-year existence.

Progressives like AOC and Representative Ilhan Omar are now calling to expand the size of the Supreme Court following the confirmation of President Trump's latest nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, whose ascension lends a conservative majority to the court. Democrats argue that expanding the court is a defensive strategy against the Republican-controlled Senate, which has the constitutional power to confirm Supreme Court justices.

Mitch and the Repubs set the scene with their abuse of power but it is the Dems who are now talking about "packing".  The Repubs did not "pack the court".

Two wrongs?  No, this is just fixing the wrong, that (again) you’re five years late chiming in about.  Try to keep up.
