April 16, 20214 yr Just got a concept2 rower. Very nice smooth machine. Since I moved I stopped going to the gym and started working out at home as I have a lot more space. I have been doing a moderate 20 minutes right after I wake up, and 30 minutes at a more intense pace on Sunday mornings. Going to pick up some kettlebells soon, and along with my TRX, do some HIIT sessions twice a week after work.

Such a sad little fella you are. But if following me from thread to thread like a little puppy that no one loves gets you through the day, do what you need to do.

I have a friend that has been doing it for years. He told me both Trek and Giant are good bikes. I went with a Giant gravel bike to ride the rails to trails and such around me. I try to stay off the roads, seems like drivers target bikers. Go to a local bike shop and tell them where you will be riding. They should be able to point you in the right direction. The bike I bought was a somewhat a starter level bike an it was 500.00. So expect to pay at least that amount. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thinking of renting a bike and getting a guide to ride up one of the volcanoes.

Thinking of renting a bike and getting a guide to ride up one of the volcanoes. That should be great. I've been, but didn't do anything by bike, that should be challenging. If you get a chance while you are there travel the road to Hana (by vehicle). Check with the locals though you need to start at the right end or take extra toilet paper, starting at the wrong side and you are hugging the edge of the road on the side with 100 foot cliff drop offs. Have fun
April 26, 20214 yr Did 20 miles Saturday and then 7 more Sunday on the bike. One thing I forgot to mention @vikas83 you might want to get padded bike shorts or a padded seat for your bike when you first start out. (some may already come with that, but the bikes I saw and bought had very little there). When you get up over 15-20 miles you will probably want that. Anyhow it was good to be back in the "saddle" again.

May 17, 20214 yr Really tired of running again. It's gotten tougher and tougher to force myself out there, much less continue to increase time and distance. So the last 2 runs have been trail runs, and I've been digging it. Gonna take a few more to build up to the miles I do on the road, but it's a far more focused workout, constantly thinking ahead rather than just plodding along to the end. Slower than on the road, but man, using muscles I obviously haven't on the road because the legs are far more tired and sore, but not in a repetitive motion injury kind of way, like on the roads. 1st time I ran on the trail, on Saturday, I almost tripped over at least a dozen roots, and rolled my ankles on a dozen more. Today, same trail, about .6 miles further, no problems with the roots.

May 21, 20214 yr The last few weeks have been extremely frustrating for me with my exercise programme. I have my plan, my approach and then one of the days something comes up that means I can't train. The last 3 straight weeks I've only been able to train 3 times each week rather than the usual 4-6.

Today, I discovered the downside of trail running……the ground, which, even though it’s dirt (and roots, and rocks), instead of asphalt, still hurts when your body unexpectedly slams into it. Bonus, the fall (or falls ), happened on steep downhills, so I kept sliding for a few feet once I did hit the ground.

They got a high arch and not use to them, at all. https://www.nike.com/t/juniper-trail-mens-trail-running-shoe-MCKdXS/CW3808-001
