I completely understand (and agree with) the rationale that we should not over-invest or reach for a suboptimal QB solution, that we should invest in the rest of the team, and that we need to accept a placeholder until the right option becomes available.  That's a wise approach.

I absolutely do not think Hurts is good enough to be a placeholder.  I truly believe he is the worst starting QB, as a passer, in the entire NFL.  Rookies, Daniel Jones, Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold....stats be damned...I believe they are all vastly superior passers to Hurts.  I also believe that a strong majority of NFL backup QBs are much better passers than Hurts.

He's that horrific.  And I don't see him as being good enough to be a placeholder starter.

Sam Darnold isn't vastly superior to any other starter as a QB or a passer, neither is Daniel Jones, I can agree Hurts hasn't been consistently good enough this year but some of you lot need to dial it back a bit because stuff like this really is horseshit.

In terms of competition/pushing Hurts, Minshew and a rookie will be just fine. We have limited cap and in my view need a WR2, CB2 and starting safety as a minimum in free agency and that, along with our draft picks, should pretty much take up the cap, even with a couple of cuts/restructures.

Still hope Howie finds a way to get an extra first for next year. Puts us in a good position to trade up in a stronger QB draft.

They will say Hurts is the starter even if they draft a QB or until the ink is dried on a FA contract. All it means is that they have nothing new to announce.

And Jalen Hurts will not elevate those traits remotely close to that level.  He is sub par at everything a QB needs to do.

Here's a stat... through 20 starts, only 3 QBs in NFL history have a lower QBR in the pocket than Hurts... Blake Bortles, Brandon Weeden and I forget the 3rd.  Of course, maybe that's why he leaves perfectly good pockets so much.

It's their job to be aware of the potential talent in the coaching ranks, upcoming personnel people and college and NFL talent available to upgrade.  They have personnel departments for a reason.

I’ll give you the Cliff notes version. Easy Eagles and T-1000 seem to have problems with the idea that I don’t believe the team has no issues with Hurts, and despite what they said publicly, I had the audacity to claim they will have discussions about other options. 
 

Now, I never said they would get anyone else, just discussions will take place.
