Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

In game vs Steelers Jalen Hurts threw 19/28, 285 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs and 140.6 QB rating (highest of the week amongst QBs)!

Watching the replays of those two back shoulder throws in tight coverage man it was truly next level stuff for Jalen. Those where the throws the doubters said he can’t make. Well it’s hard to make those throws when you’re throwing the ball to the likes of Jalen Reagor. This is why it was too soon to judge Jalen. They were basing their grades while he was saddled with a rookie in Smith, Greg Ward, and a bad receiver in Reagor. Now we see his true potential with adult receivers in the room.

That's why PFF grades are relevant, even if not traditional. They evaluate the throws minus what the receiver does. Remember, PFF had Hurts graded as the 11th QB in the NFL after last season. The skeptics ridiculed the ranking. Looks like PFF was right. Replacing Reagor with Brown has had a huge statistical impact. Hurts still graded highly in on target throws last season, but now he has tremendous trust in his receivers and we're seeing the results.

All the concerns we expressed were legitimate, and while most are improved, you still see bad tendencies, especially when blitzed.

Brian Dawkins was on Jim Rome yesterday, and listed every concern I had listed that he had about Hurts at the end of last year.

Is Brian Dawkins also a racist hater ??

There are Concerns with Hurts, as with any QB....- Yes.

Were you not the one emphasizing, earlier this year, stating that Hurts is nothing more than a running back? and will never be a QB?

3TD to Brown in the last game, were as beautiful as I have ever seen anyone ever throw.

So Hurts is a QB, who is still young, and still has room to grow...and not just a RB.

Sorry bud, but I’m not going to give PFF credit. Heck if they knew so much then they should have rated him higher. 😂

What I believe the constant haters of anything Hurts failed to realize is that there is a major difference in identifying a concern,  to stating that it’s impossible for this particular player to improve. Now they’re trying to justify their bs stance with some idea that they were legit concerns. One of them just stated they hated running quarterbacks. Is that a legit concern or is that something else? Some guys said he was a running back. Is that a legit concern or is that a flat out insult? Some just got flat out irate with any comparisons to Josh Allen (who also runs often, but doesn’t draw the same ire) and weren’t willing to accept any possibility that Hurts could improve just off his work ethic alone. They didn’t state concerns. They made ASSumptions, and tried to act as if they were absolutes. They have been wrong time and time again, but lack any real backbone to step up and admit it.

Same thing I have said double digit times this year, he is playing well.

All the things I didn't like about Hurts.... he actually did what a Ben Simmons would not do- he worked on ALL of his flaws. I respect that.

Oh STFU, mr Tyrod Taylor. Go blow your crappy qb evaluations and projections out your ass.

and for the "what’s he gonna do when he faces Allen or Mahomes?” crowd. Omg, can you BE any dumber? He’ll NEVER face them. Qbs face defenses. They don’t face other qbs. It’s the defense’s job to do something about Mahomes/Allen/whatever qb you wanna blow this week.

jalen hurts is him. You were all wrong. But please….. keep up the backhanded compliments. I like how now it’s because of all the weapons around him. 😂

"yeah he’s improved but look at all the weapons he has now! How could he NOT improve?”

give me a break.

That's awesome.  If you didn't care about my QB evaluations and projections, you wouldn't remember them from a year ago.  I don't think Peter King's readers remember his stuff from 1 year ago.  I'm sorry, but I don't have a podcast.  If you really want, maybe in my spare time I'll see what I can do.  But I appreciate your loyalty and attention.

I’m sure there were others too. @MF POON, and @EaglesRocker97 have definitely fought the good fight also to name a few though I have too. I can’t say I was one who truly believed in Hurts, only that I thought it was way too early to judge him like so many have.

Haha, thanks. Yeah, I've always said to give the guy time.  I thought Hurts would definitely improve this season, but he's definitely exceeded my expectations.

This type of high flying air attack the guys showed against Pittsburg seems to have shocked the league this week.  Everyone is so used to them dominating the running game.  The team has always showed glimpses of this.  But It think the length of those TD's were very shocking.  4 straight 25 or more yards...that's wild.  Only one red zone TD but put up 35.    AJ clearly does open things up.  But our running game is where they really punish teams and wear down defenses and the clock.  It shows they can beat you multiple ways.   10 Rushing yards is very low for Jalen but team overall still had over 100 yards on the ground.  I'm glad he showed everyone he can win in a multitude of ways.   After making Eagles History last week.  Jalen and the whole Team has a chance to do it again if they can advance to 8-0 and break another Eagles record.   All of this is aligning right at his Hometown in Houston.   It truly isn't just about the destination but the journey.   This has already been an amazing season, let's keep it going.

So perhaps you and your buddies were wrong to turn a concern into a fact, because many of you were certain he could never do any of the things he’s doing this year correct?

Brian Dawkins was on the Jim Rome show last Friday, he said at the end of last year he had all the same concerns.

Do you want a prize for being right ??

I didn’t ask you about Rome (who probably said it as a certainty too) or Dawkins (who is just stating a possible concern), but I am asking you about you. Just pointing out nothing is an absolute. People thought Geno Smith couldn’t play. He’s doing a darn good job this year. It took Rich Gannon years to get good. We told you guys over and over again it’s too soon to judge. I don’t want to hear I was right, but perhaps you guys should step up and admit you were wrong.

Seriously people are talking about Jalen’s passing from last year, but I would love to see any of those quarterbacks the beanbaggers fawned over try and have a complete season of quarterback play throwing to Reagor, Ward, and JJAW. It’s really not a sustainable passing offense. JJAW’s biggest asset was his ability to run block. Let’s not act like Jalen was loaded down with weapons and he was just missing guys constantly. These guys aren’t NFL caliber receivers.

I am not wrong.  I had legitimate concerns at the end of last year, and those concerns were shared by many, including Eagles legend Brian Dawkins.

He has played well this year, but as @austinfan asked in the blog, is it Hurts, is it the team around him ??

Geno Smith, is he good, or is he finally in a good situation ??

At this point, being undefeated, and contracts due for a bunch of players next year, this is a Super Bowl or bust season, anything less than a title is a failure.  Not getting to the Super Bowl would be an epic failure, and god forbid he lays a turd in the playoffs.

Bruh saying he’s a running back playing quarterback isn’t a legit concern. It’s an insult. Saying he can never overcome any of his deficiencies isn’t a concern. It’s an assumption. You and your cronies made judgments stating he could never be more than he is. You and your cronies were wrong.

Last year he was a RB playing QB.  We were working with the information we had.

I never said he could not, I said he has not shown me anything to make me believe he can.

No one said he could not, I just did not see anything to convince me he could.

You were so desperate to be right, you read things into posts that are not there.

It will be interesting to see as the cap continues to be an issue, if he gets a big contract and the team around him gets weaker, if he can continue.

On First Watch they compared Hurts getting AJ Brown to Allen getting Diggs.  No one dismisses the growth of Allen by giving the credit to the WR or the offense in general.

There have been great QBs over the years that had great receivers or running backs, but no one downplays their performance because of the talent they had around them.  Also people got spoiled by some QBs that had more instant success, sometimes going to teams that were built but just missing the QB.  In general, it takes a QB 3-4 years before they reach the top level of play and start winning playoff games and championships.  And now he has the team built around him to give him the opportunity and so far so good.

QB development is more of a long-term project than any other position in any sport outside of maybe MLB pitching. Playing the position is so complicated these days, and there are so many variables due to the individual and the environment around them that leads to developmental arcs that are wildly variable. Most guys show you what they are in 3-4 years, but hell, some guys are extremely late bloomers and many continue getting better into their 30s. The game is as much physical as it is mental for them, so you have to give guys time for their brains to catch up to their bodies, and some will just never get there if they aren't given the proper supports.

Patience is a virtue, in life, but especially in QB development.

I stopped reading after your running back playing quarterback comment. You can go back to your peanut gallery and tell about how great Carson Strong will be still.

And not smart enough to figure out this was a coordinated joke to kill time in the off season

Let's be real, there were a lot of true believers in Strong on this board.

Nasty Nate legend, lol.
