It’s comical how race is always dismissed.

Who said they hate Hurts because he's black? Stop assuming that's why people like or dislike players. You're ignorant with your assumptions

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Nobody posting in this thread is racist

Okay, we don’t know that.

I’m not saying the guy is racist, but you honestly don’t find it a little suspicious that one guy keeps saying Hurts "doesn’t think fast enough”?

The thing is, no one called out any individual posters. I don't think Mike is racist, just too proud to admit he was dead wrong and too easily wowed by guys with "arm talent" and elite physical attributes like Wentz had. I mean, I get that that makes you hopeful that a player can be something, but eventually you just have to see the writing on the wall. They've always discounted the mental and emotional aspect to a player's development and success. But in terms of how the masses and some individuals (although not necessarily anyone in this discussion), I think there definitely is a tendency to give a longer leash and be more forgiving of white QBs. It's a latent disposition in most people, a kind of vestigial prejudice. I don't think anyone speaking here right now is eliciting that, but it's certainly a factor in some people's minds. As for the ones in here getting defensive right now, they're just too sensitive about the topic itself and take it as a direct accusation, but it's not. What I will directly accuse you of, though, is a fatal flaw of hubris: Too proud to admit your analysis of Hurts sucked, and you dug yourself so deeply into that position in the past that truly owning up to it would be a loss of face.

Vaff said it, but it's more complicated than that. Your simple mind is in no way capable of comprehending nuance, though, so, I'm content to just let you have a hissy fit.

At least vaff is honest enough to say what he means, doesn’t couch it in hidden language

Can’t say I have seen that comment in my discussions today.   That was an issue for him last year.

I didn’t accuse anyone here of being racist. I’m just saying there’s a 0% chance there aren’t any of them out there. You don’t think a single white supremacist cheers for the Eagles?

Again, it's not hidden, it's a nuanced take that you are incapable of wrapping your head around. I would hesitate to just say "they're racist" because I think that word carries a certain connotation that I wouldn't think is really accurate here. I'm just saying that there are definitely subconscious racial attitudes that you can see playing out in how the masses have received Hurts. I don't even think it's at the top of the list or anywhere near it, but it's an interesting factor to consider.

Why even bring it up? People on the board gave their reasons as to why they weren't a fan of Hurts going into the season. No one mentioned his race as a reason why they don't like him

I haven’t seen that comment today, either. Because that person isn’t around right now. I just think it’s a suspicious comment.

Keep in mind that all QB’s improve in that aspect with more experience. I don’t think anyone can make that claim this year.

What about those that have admitted to being wrong and have been openly accused of being racist, multiple times?

Whether anyone has specifically been called out within the last hour or not doesn't matter. It's happened.

Foolish, but it happens.

Maybe I should send these to one of you guys, seeing as I am racist and hate the guy.

What about those that thought Wentz stunk, Hurts stunk, but have given him props and admitted to being wrong...only to continue to be called racist and other things?

Where do those people fit into the equation?

Somewhere in the middle, I guess, just people with a warped understanding of the game and limited ability to determine whether a prospect has the raw materials for success.

What you don’t understand is it had everything to do with his ability, and nothing to do with his race. You can try and play psychiatrist all you want, but you look retarded doing so based only on message board posts.

In my own case, the very reason I became an eagles fan was Randall. Got McNabbs jersey the day after he was drafted. Got Foles too after the SB. Loved mcnabb and criticized him where appropriate, and was never called racist.

All off-season there was numerous posters defaulting to calling people critical of Hurts racist. Over and over again they repeated it. Here we are, late in the season, I’ve fully admitted numerous times that I was completely wrong on him.

Today I criticize his hospital pass that should’ve got Smith killed, and what do you know, someone goes to calling me racist again. You, and your racist friends can pound sand, loser

Not surprised you're intentionally ignoring the bigger issue.

Mike, no one called you racist, and I specifically said I don't think you're racist, but do you really think this is a valid argument? This is akin to "I can't be racist, I have black friends!" If the accusation doesn't apply to you, then just move on and stick to football.

I was 100% correct that Justin Jefferson was the most pro ready route runner in the draft in 10 years, the best WR in his class, and would be a stud in the NFL.

You don't see me running around being a D about it.

The context in which I brought it up was simply to mention the reasons I think there are still people hating on Hurts this season, in general. I never meant to accuse anyone in particular. I think most of the people that criticize him here are more too stubborn to admit being wrong. But I think in terms of Hurts haters in general, it’s relevant.

It is definitely a valid argument that I have never hated Jalen Hurts, and obviously thought there was something worth investing in.

Lol, you're just making sh**t up. We specifically argued about the play itself, the position of the safety and trajectory of the ball.

Either quote the post where someone specifically accused you of being racist, or stfu and stick to the facts, crybaby.

No one had a hard-on for killing Jefferson and anyone who liked him like they do Hurts, and he was never an Eagle, so I don't see how the two are analogous. As far as being a D, I mean, you're definitely one of the biggest smartasses on this board, so don't act like you're a saint around here. It's fine, though, it's TATE. This place is the domain of deeks and d-bags, so all I'm saying is, carry on, just be ready for some blowback when you turn out to be dead wrong.

Maybe there are people that don't like him because of that...I have yet to hear one person on this board say that's why they don't like him. So there shouldn't be any reasons to bring it up. As for the haters, I was very skeptical of Hurts going into this season. He's answered just about every question I've had. I've praised him all year for the most part. Most of the "haters" have done as well. I'll continue to eat that plate of crow hopefully all the way to a SB championship

You know both can be true.  My point all day is Jalen did not make AJ good, AJ has always been good.

Here are the numbers again.  Fact.   AJ Brown is doing exactly ( well, 29 more yards ) what he did in Tennessee with Ryan Tannehill in 2020.

image.png.8a73c5381840cbafd6359a06501669c6.png

If you want I can post Hurts numbers with and without AJ Brown, but you will just accuse me of something, so we will just leave it at this.

Ok idk where you’re getting these averages from because he’s never played an entire 16-17 game season. So you’re trying to fill in and guess based on his average? That’s so shady and reeks of bias.

but let’s just say these imaginary numbers are spot on. Let’s just say he is on par with how he performed this year with hurts with last year with tannehill (even though he’s performing better)….. maybe there’s a comparison there. Maybe you could’ve compared hurts to tannehill with hurts making the leap tannehill made when he went to tennesse. Doesn’t sound that out of range right?

but ya’ll didn’t even go THAT far. Tannehill is a decent starting qb. If you want, you give him that "game manager” title you guys love so much. THAT was even too high a bar for Hurts to reach. Who’s name kept getting thrown out?

”the REALISTIC COMPARISON is Tyrod Taylor. That’s the best he’ll ever be.”

😂

One guy thought he had a brilliant comparison and the rest of you ran with it like a bunch of sheep

It's called math.

You take the numbers, divide them by games played, then multiply them by 17.

For example, if you take AJ's current numbers, /13 and multiply by 14, his numbers would almost be exactly what the 2020 numbers in Tennessee were.

You did not see the pre draft discussion then.  He was to slow, only a slot WR, we did not know what we were watching and how it would translate to the NFL.

@Outlaw @Ray75 and @Dwide Schrude can all back me up on this.
