Jalen Hurts - shoulder sprain injury; expected for playoffs

Lane Johnson out for the rest of the regular season with a torn abdominal tendon.  That will obviously influence the thinking around Hurts and risk tolerance.

Jalen should have played against the Cowboys. I get it — it sounds messed up (and it is) but we are now playing with fire with a team that is physically wearing down.

Beat the Cowboys, Lane is still hurt but already we shut everyone down for 3 weeks.

F!

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

There's a lot a stake for Eagles against Saints. A win = #1 seed and no Playoffs for Saints. If Hurts can play, play him.

Can't risk an L against NO, that is a catastrophic outcome in so many ways. Give Hurts a pain shot and trot him out there.

He can then have the next 2 weeks to rest for the playoffs.

Completely agree. If he’s just sore. Play him and once he has the Saints beat he can rest until the playoffs.

Let’s get this done and also try and keep our Saints puck top 10.

Play him if he can go. That is all.

Hurts has to play. Now more than ever as we need to make sure that Lane has a month off to recover.

I'm not expecting Hurts to play. The more I hear about the injury, it's likely they don't risk him.

Agreed.

Heck, get a big lead on the Saints, and then they can pull him in the 4th quarter like they’ve done a couple of times this season.

I was Fing incensed but Sweat got a sack on the next play so I forgot about it quickly.

then 3rd and 30 and Josiah Scott happened. 😡😡

Honestly, Scott was out of position, but Slay should've ran full speed on the coverage. Why he decided to half a** it throughout some of that route was crazy.

I think Minshew is good enough to beat NO. I don't think we need to rush Hurts out there if he's not ready. The only game I think he needs to get some reps in is against the Giants.

Play to win. If Hurts is ok, fine- put him in. If he is more seriously injured, you just cannot play him. The question becomes:

1. Do you want the #1 seed with a damaged Hurts throughout the playoffs?
2. Do you possibly forgo the @1 seed, make the playoffs, and have a 100% healthy Hurts?

He got hurt in the 3rd quarter, right? But then he proceeded to have a really good 4th quarter with the injury.  Does that seem odd??

So maybe the injury isn’t really that serious and they are being over cautious. But what do I know. 🏈🤪

Lots of players have finished games injured some of them pretty serious.  This is nothing new

Not sure. Feels like not getting the #1 seed and having him play in the playoffs earlier, without homefield against a possibly stronger opponent is worse than you make it sound.

Rather start him and then rest him asap if you ask me but we might be wrong either way. Let’s hope he is just fine and good to go, would keep things simple.

Not getting the #1 seed would mean the team is in a tail spin and I'd fully expect them to lose either in the wild card round or divisional round.

I didn't mean to make it sound like anything, actually. Just pondering out loud. 👍🏻

Both are possible.  The Saints aren't the Cowboys, and the Eagles have the weapons on both sides of the ball to win this game, regardless of who starts at QB.  I expect Minshew to improve off his under-appreciated game in Dallas.

Vegas now has the Eagles favored by 7, up a half point, indicating bettors like the Eagles.

That's exactly it. That injury doesn't affect throwing. He would only feel pain if he was to get hit.

He needs to be able to run though to fully utilize our offense. I guess something is better than nothing.

Not only a win against Saints gets Eagles #1 seed, it also eliminates them from Playoffs and gets Eagles a higher draft pick.

What if that means Cowboys get #1 seed? That would be so awful.

The Cowboys are not getting the #1 seed.

Jalen Hurts worst game this season was against Chicago Bears with QB Rating of 60 something was most likely due to him playing thru his injured shoulder.

I assume he will not return until the Post Season since the Eagles will lock in seed 1 with this Sunday's win.

That being said what do you think the odds are of Jalen Hurts winning MVP this season?

None.  Mahomes is on the verge of 5000 passing yards.
