I will give you the pick 6, but the defense can still make things happen, and get stops that force a punt, and the Eagles did that 2 out of 10 times, so they gave up points 80% of the time.

Here is the Titans / Cowboys Thursday nights.

You will notice the Titans turned the ball over twice.  They forced a turnover back on one possession, and a 3 and out on the other.

You will also notice, the Titans only surrendered points on 5 of 11 possession's, while resting multiple defensive starters.

The Eagles defense gave up points 80% of the time, the Titans defense gave up points 45% of the time and 0% of the time after a turnover.

Thats great, but that’s also ignoring where the drives started at, how long the D was off the field before they had to go back on, and how many total points those drives amounted to. None of those turnovers happened in field goal range, whereas half of ours did, annd the other 2 were just 1 first down away from it. And again, combining all scoring drives is lessening the effect of what they are. 3 TDs are worth the same as SEVEN field goals. They only scored 1 more TD against us than Tennessee despite all those turnovers in our territory.

When you ask a team to play great defense, the primary thing you’re asking them is to prevent first downs. Very few teams in NFL history could routinely prevent a single first down from each opponent’s drive, regardless of field position. Even just allowing two is completely reasonable. But putting your team out there at their own 40 and saying 1 first down is completely unacceptable is a whole other monster than the opponent starting on their own 25 and the goal is allow 3-4 first downs and punt and you did a great job.

They didn't even play average defense.

You can supplant that with playing defense in general. Offensive and defensive perfomance are symbiotic. When our D is getting turnovers, Hurts’ stats are better. He has short fields and the opponents’ d is on their toes. Conversely, when we run the ball well our D is much more dominant. Conversely, When one side is having a problem, it often translates to the other side as well.

Our D was repeatedly put in bad spots and gave up a lot of big plays to Dallas, but they still put us in position to win at the end with a backup QB leading a 4 turnover offense.

Bottom line is we wouldnt be having all this suspense and drama if Siri didnt make Hurts run so much at the Bears game. Oh well.

Which is true and look we have all agreed and said he should have run more with Sanders. That said when you have a QB like Hurts who's that good at running you have to use that a lot.

Unfortunately Jalen will miss his 2nd week but he was at practice so that's good he's getting back out there.   They are going with caution with him being Doubtful this week.  The first step was getting him back at Practice obviously.   He's already rumored to be ready for next week against the GMen.  Again 5 weeks off would be a lot but he's working himself back.   So Minshew Mania for another week.

Incorrect. You don’t run him a lot, you run him smart. When he has wide open space, and can run free for big gains and get down, go out of bounds or slide, that’s when it’s fine he runs. The game in Chicago was BS though. Aside from the 22 yard TD run, he was running right into defenders way too often, and with little gain. There was no attempt to even get Sanders involved. The game looked like Hurts let Parson’s comments get in his head.

Agreed, he had multiple runs where he turned his back to the defense to try and back his way into more yards. He left himself vulnerable to hits to the back of his head and neck which he took.

People pretending that it's the same risk as standing in the pocket are delusional or just trying to justify all the unnecessary running against a team it was not called for because you know it's the same as standing in the pocket.

Jalen Hurts out today, Eagles expect him to be ready if needed next week

Posted by Michael David Smith on January 1, 2023, 7:06 AM EST

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss today’s game against the Saints, and now the question is whether he’ll next play in Week 18, or in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Hurts is out today but will be ready next week, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

But if the Eagles win today, they won’t need him next week: A Philadelphia win clinches the No. 1 seed in the NFC, and a playoff bye to the divisional round. So if the Eagles win today, it’s hard to believe they would risk Hurts aggravating his shoulder injury in a meaningless Week 18 game.

If the Eagles lose today, they can’t clinch the No. 1 seed this week, and that would likely mean Hurts starts in the season finale against the Giants.

So if Gardner Minshew and the Eagles can beat the Saints today, Hurts’ regular season is likely over. If the Eagles lose their second in a row, expect to see Hurts back on the field next weekend.

Hurts is listed as doubtful for the Saints game.  Now the report says he is out.  Minshews will be the QB for today.  In fact, his numbers from the Dallas game were not bad.  It would be good enough to win a NFL game, if they did not beat themselves due to turn-over and mistakes.  If the team tidy up the mistakes, they stand a good chance to win today and take the #1 seed on playoff.

Hurts has a good chance to go for the Giants game.  Question is if he needs some game snaps to get ready or they rest him until the playoff.  He could take a series or a quarter, if he plays.  3rd-strength QB Book may see action in one quarter or a half.  You want to know if he is worth keeping going forward.

I'm not feeling confident with Minshew. If Minshew pulls it off today Hurts has to at least play the first half next week. If not then Hurts not playing in 5 weeks come playoff time has the potential of a massive choke job and 1 and done.

Yeah, I think we can say the people who have been telling us "any QB can play in this offense” are absolute imbeciles.

I think it is safe to assume at this point Hurts will be playing next week

If there was any lingering doubt about how good Hurts is. About what he brings. They should be over now.

13-1 with Hurts. 0-2 without him.

The same people who have been consistently wrong for two years in this thread? I don't think we needed any additional proof that they are morons, but they keep gifting it to us with each post.

A few things:

- It was never the system, it was always Hurts.

- Minshew F'in sucks, we need a much better backup QB next year.

- We beat DAL and NO with Hurts at QB.

- Minshew F'in sucks.

The Giants have no reason to play their starters next week.

Yes they do, to hurt the Eagles  although they will just help the Cowboys

Giants and Daboll are a-holes. They were trying like crazy today. Up big and going for it on 4th down. Jones runs nonstop and takes hits yet no injury. I can see some BS Giant Pride thing where they let starters play and try like hell to beat us and give Dallas that 1 seed.

That would just be stupid of them. They should be resting their players for the playoffs/
