All QBs get hit....

Brady might be one of the best pocket-aware QBs of all time.  He doesn't get hit much because he makes his reads and gets rid of the ball faster than anyone else...

That's why the Patriots would trade away "Pro Bowl" lineman over the years who would then go on to suck at their next team.... It's not that they weren't giving up sacks because they were winning in the trenches....

Well, the only QB I can remember playing into his mid 40s was Warren Moon.   And I guess Favre - alrhough he wasn’t very good his last few years…

People still argue that Joe Montana is better

Because he was.

Tom Brady has more TD's than Montana and Elway COMBINED.

More passing yards than Montana and Unitas COMBINED.

More Rings than any FRANCHISE.

Even Jerry Rice said he's the GOAT.

I hate him with a passion, but I'm not going to deny his sustained greatness.

He's probably going to play until he's 50 and finish with over 100,000 yards and close to 800 TD's

Again that’s because QBs are so protected now that a slight touch on their head is roughing the passer and that was all created to protect Brady and Peyton. He’s a great player but his longevity is due to the wussification of the nfl.

I always think of Steve Deberg (sp?). Not that he was any good, but when he got old the announcers always said his age as part of his name "the 44 year old Steve Deberg takes the snap..." and it always made me laugh.

That wasn't true earlier in Brady's career. That's how freaking long he's been around.

He was great BEFORE the rule changes.

I don't doubt the rule changes have helped extend his career. And it's a different era than Montana played in. But his biggest asset in not getting hit is that the gets rid of the ball crazy fast.

Montana was great. I find it hard to argue that he was better than Brady at this point though.

And if he wins it all this year, ties the Patriots for most post season wins all time

The rules changes pretty early in the 2000s. But yea he’s great regardless and I think would be great in montanas era.

Joe Montana also didn't have a salary cap.....

It was much easier to build and maintain a dynasty back then.

New England was constantly getting rid of star players during Brady's prime on both sides of the ball

Vinny Testaverde, George Blanda (not sure why I know about him, but I know he was one of the oldest quarterbacks ever), Doug Flutie, and Drew Brees also all played into their 40's.

Brady is great.  Arguably the greatest QB of all time.  Hard to compare stats across eras like that though.  Completely different game back then.  The 2004 illegal contact changes changed the passing game and significantly inflated stats compared to what they were before then.  Teams pass more nowadays AND it’s easier to pass the ball.
