It's a lifetime of propaganda telling them they are both: 1. underpaid and 2. have the most important job on the planet. Plus, most of them went through schooling, went to college to become a teacher, then became a teacher directly out of college. Their entire existence has revolved around the education system leaving them in a state of mental adolescence. They literally have zero real-world work experience to draw from. It completely warps their minds.
