long "proof":

30/x + 1/8 + 1/4 = 1

30/x = 5/8

x = 48

 

check:

30 + 48/8 + 48/4 = 48

30 + 6 + 12 = 48

48 = 48 ✅

I'm not surprised the average Twitterer struggled. CVON has higher standards.

Also Twitter is more likely to amplify people being stupid. There's no interest in retweeting people doing the boring thing and getting it correct, much more fun to point and laugh at people who had difficulty.
