It's worth pointing out that the US has a mostly functional police department and criminal justice system. (For all its faults it's a helluva lot more effective than what they have in many nations south of the border.)

Also, there's a zero percent chance that a police force in the US would A. Be there to stop the guy, or B. Investigate it further than just taking a report and filing it....
