Mini Rant.... Do you know anyone that refuses to use credit cards and is proud of it like its some kind of accomplishment\badge of honor\signal that they are good with money? You know those few places that charge a convenience fee when you use a credit card? Well guess what you stupid rube: everywhere that doesn't bakes that into the cost of doing business. That means you are paying for everyone else to have the convenience of not carrying cash AND them getting rewards for it (depending on the credit card).

Yeah that stuff was awful. I remember having to pull those out when our systems went down at the store I worked at in the late 90s. Cashiers today (if you can find them) don't know how good they have it I still refuse to use self-checkout if I have more than a small basket of items. I'm not scanning and bagging a cart full of stuff - Giant foodstores I'm looking at you 🖕

Yep, this topic came up a few times in cvon when I first started posting in here back in 2015. There was that one hag on Fox News that advocated for everyone to use cash only because it's the best way to "only spend what you have" and doesn't allow the government to track you and the businesses you're giving patronage to. Another dude on conservative talk radio that people here cited a lot would tell people to keep cash in pre-marked envelopes for gas, restaurants, car maintenance, etc. I mean, I kinda get it, personal finance is probably the most undervalued subject, and it's not taught very well in our public education system (if at all), so I'm somewhat sympathetic to those who look to the media to help them make some sense of things. But FFS, you're leaving so much gd money on the table if you refuse to use credit cards simply because you lack the will power or financial literacy to set a budget and stick to it so that you can pay the F'ing thing off at the end of the month.
