I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Playing Jalen Hurts likely isn't going to end well either.  He's the darling now, but that won't last.

At least we don’t have much investment in him.  He’s going to run for 700 yards this year, probably pass for about 3,000.  It might even be admirable considering the OL and weapons he’ll have to work with.  But that’s not the qb or the offense anyone should want to build.

Wentz flatlined in 2018, 2019, regressed in 2020, should rebound in Indy, but 2017 was a fluke season, after 5 seasons you probably "are what you are." He's a marginal top 10 QB, no better than Dak, who can win with good talent but can't carry a team. He's not gong to make those amazing scramble plays anymore - the ones that those "running" QBs make. A lot of his big plays came from buying time, then using his arm to fire it downfield. He can still buy time but since his knee injury doesn't have the same mobility. Still has a very strong arm, average accuracy, average anticipation, average touch. I'd be shocked if he became a top 5 QB or if he became later career Flacco. I expect something inbetween.

Anyone who "knows" what Hurts will become the next two seasons is blowing smoke, he made big strides in Oklahoma, showed flashes as a rookie, has a long way to go. Has a NFL arm, makes nice touch throws, but is inconsistent and needs to learn how to read a pro defense. Needs to know when and how to run, a running QB can freeze a defense by threatening to run while looking downfield, as defenders don't know if they should stay with their responsibility or come up to tackle. Has to learn how to pass out of the pocket to keep defenses from spying him or using a mush rush to contain him - again, as Wilson and other mobile QBs show, if you can pass from the pocket, your running ability squeezes the defense - blitz with man behind and if you don't bring him down there's lots of empty real estate.

Wentz wasn't the future, Hurts might not be, but build a team and you can find a QB, find a QB without a team, and by the time you have a team you may ruin a young QB.

What do you think of Kadarius Toney?  Sort of reminds me of Reagor a little bit.

This Bobby Skinner does a nice breakdown of film.  Nice find.

Ok. But it sounds like their emotions are doing their thinking for them.

I'm from Philly; lived in at least 5 places around town for over 15 years, growing up not far away in Cherry Hill. I've been away 20 years(that's starting to sound old, I am) I can't tell you exactly why I will always be an Eagles fan. But I do love the owner; and no matter what hardship this team faces, I find the course the team takes as supportable. It's not going to always work, I know that. But I can always find solid logic being applied, a method to the madness -even if I personally hate the move.

I can't tell people what they are. Only they can determine that. I just want them to stop with this lynch-mob mentality, piling on bogus assumptions.

East or West?

I was a Cherry Hill East kid. So you were around during the Glenn Foley days in HS. My brother was there in that time, I was 6 years behind so we would have never played together or against each other in any sports.

I think King Nothing fits Rodgers better — better song by a better band.

This is their best song, btw:

He's a nice little RB that throws a little.

I'm trying to be generous.

So is Watson, one of the weakest arms to come out of college in the 1st rd.

Watson puts up great individual stats, but for some reason, they don't translate to team scoring.

Last three years Houston is 11th, 14th and 18th in points scored despite his gaudy numbers. The Raiders scored more points with Derek Carr at QB, Agholor as their leading WR and a 6th rd pick at TE.

So I'm less interested in whether Hurts can put up huge stats than whether he can run an offense that scores points.

This.

When I first glanced at this tweet, I was like, "Whoa...Eli Manning got arrested?"

 (oops).

What bothers me the most, is that in spite of 3 seasons telling the story of a team going only as far as their backup could get them, many fans chose to do a 180 on the whole idea of applying logic in general, in order to offer Carson Wentz, acting like he was overlooked for homecoming queen, a shoulder to cry on. Racism makes the most sense, and yet, this is what a lot of fans did with McNabb too. I don't know what to make of it really. Player worship?

When I was really young, I read a couple books by Bart Starr and became a big fan. I also had players around the league I liked. Norm Snead and the Eagles at the time weren't one of them. It wasn't until I discovered what it meant to be from an area, what being a fan meant.

But the Eagles still always had to win me over somehow though. The Vermeil years confirmed my fandom in spite being overseas. As bad as some of the 80s and 90s teams were, there was always some talent to appreciate. The team had attitude if nothing else.

Finding out that in spite being Mr Nice guy, Leonard Tose was a bumbling idiot with finances, and that he was selling the team to Lex Luthor; Norman Braman, that was the dark ages. Expectations were never lower. Lurie changed all that. Of course i didn't know it at the time; but he has since won me over. I always keep Jeffrey Lurie in perspective with the alternatives this team has had.

I was from East as well. I'm a little older though. As far as knowing any guys who became NFL players, I can only boast playing sandlot and being tackled(ragdolled) a few times by Pete Kugler; and can assure you it was no fun.

That record is impossible...can't toot your own horn...17 games now so 12-5 or 11-6?

13-4

You would see it in spurts in college.  By the time Hurts got into the lineup last year, no one trusted the protection. Both Wentz and Hurts struggled even when they had clean pockets because they honestly couldn’t believe in the protection.  Having to play DC with Pryor at LT and Toth at RT was brutal.

Great, he's putting in work.  Let's have everyone start sharing videos like this so the new narrative can be Jalen Hurts is actually trying to improve while Carson complained.  I can see it now.

One thing I don't question about Hurts are his practice habits and preparation.  I'm hopeful that he can be a good quarterback for the Eagles, just sick of the narrative that will keep being pushed.

Move along, nothing to see here...just another guy that "can't play QB".....

Ugh, that looks so bad and uneven.  I hope they go to 18 games at some point just so we can have 9-9 or 10-8.  Don't like how 17 games looks in a W-L format.

Comps to Edelman.  He is more quick than fast.  Real jitterbug.  May make a good slot receiver.  Rounds routes some.

I wouldn't think that way if I were you.  If you think every time someone posts something positive about Hurts that it's some sort of "conspiracy" to make Wentz look bad, you're going to be in for a long year.  Most of the time, it really is people just "complimenting Hurts".  ;)

Yes but are you in Fort Myers or the local radio market?

Problem with Media and sources is you only remember the last thing you heard from them and assume that's pretty much the way they do things now.

Why? Because you saw them do it for a "long period of time" so your initial gut check is reaction is well they're probably exactly the same.

I don't have Universal. I have no idea what they say.  Nor am I spending any of my time "trying to find out"

I go on youtube or occasionally WIP, WFAN online. I like gate city on youtube the most, and Adrian ...something, bitter birds. I'm really frustrated with a lot of local radio personalities. Even Ray Diddy, who I've always held in high regard, I just don't agree with them. But I appreciate that it's hard not to speculate when you have so few hard facts emanating from the novacare center.

Whatever...

What round tender to Boston Scott?  Likely the only Eagle RFA to receive a tender. I like Johnston but not at a tender price.  Suspect we may lose him so Siposs is the insurance policy. Probably need to scout UDFA punter candidates.

I am the president of the Toney founders club.

Mentioned him last year before he opted to stay in school for the senior season. Posted highlights in here a few times.

I want him as our slot WR. But I've been seeing him sneak up near round 1 and I think that's a little wild.
