The problem with Watson's arm is most mobile QBs (Wilson is the notable exception, but even he's getting tired of being beat up) are no longer mobile by 30.

So with an average arm, and not a lot of experience being a less mobile pocket QB, you have to wonder how he'll age in his 30s.

The pocket QBs tend to age better b/c they not only take less of a beating, but they depend on their eyes, not their legs and that doesn't change in their 30s.

The other issue with Watson is he hasn't shown he can carry a team, and he's always had a top #1 WR (Hopkins, Cooks last year). He made the playoffs the first time with a top 10 defense, 2nd time with an average defense, last year 4-12 with a defense as bad as the Eagles, while Wentz/Hurts went 4-11-1. Houston scored 378 and 384 points the last two years, Eagles scored 385 and 334. So I can't see him turning this team around without a big influx of talent.

Watson is a very accurate passer.  I think his arm compares well to Drew Brees.  He has had one losing season.  Watson has had good receivers but he was great last season with no real number 1 receiver and he had bad backfield last season.  .  The Texans were a bad team last season and their problems were primarily on defense.  I am not going to argue that he's Tom Brady but next to Mahomes he is the best young QB in the League. He would certainly make a team like Washington or Chicago a contender

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

William Jackson is a good signing for the Redskins.  I can see them making a move up from 19 to get Surtain or staying where they are hoping Jaycee Horn or Farley falls.

Admittedly, I didn't watch any Texans games in 2020, but I recall Watson taking forever to throw the ball. Losing athleticism would reduce his ability to buy time.

Person quoted an executive with an NFL team that has closely monitored the quarterback market who said Carolina remains focused on trading for Watson, 25, who desperately wants out of Houston. Person said "Watson looks to be Plan A, B and C" for the Panthers and the team's owner, David Tepper. Person expected Tepper and the Carolina front office to be as aggressive as any team interested in landing Watson, with "three first-round picks the likely starting point" in trade talks. Carolina has $29.8 million in cap room after a series of roster cuts and the restructuring of Christian McCaffrey's and Shaq Thompson's contracts. The Texans remain dug in on keeping Watson, but it would seem the Panthers are among the favorites to acquire the QB if Houston relents.

Had chipotle for lunch yesterday then middle eastern food for dinner. On morning poop #3 for the day. Need to get my ass to the grocery store for some healthy food

#3 already!  Wow.  By #3 after a previous day of Chipotle, it feels like wiping directly onto exposed nerve endings, and I typically limp around awkwardly for the rest of the day.

What type of middle eastern food did you have?  Indian food is my favorite (I know not middle eastern), but if it's a buffet and not "fine Indian cuisine," there have been multiple occasions where I've had to find the closest hotel bathroom to destroy.

Watson has a really good arm.  Doesn't matter though because he would have no interest whatsoever coming to an organization like this.

i love Indian food. It’s one of my favorite if not my most favorite. One of my best friends from Indian owns a restaurant out here. Go in every Wednesday to get some and hangout with him. Murgh makhani or chicken masala with garlic cheese naan is delicious every time.

Wouldn’t she find a non tax attorney for these charges?

Do they even consider the salary cap when they make this kind of speculation?

Not only Carolina, but the Jets and Dolphins are viable options with higher picks than the Eagles, cap room, and improving young rosters.

The Jets could offer Darnold, a couple of 1sts this year including 2nd overall, a first and more next year along with Sam Darnold.  Would give them their pick of the QBs after Lawrence, immediate draft resources, and a starting caliber QB who is a FA next year and could fetch another pick (or trade partner).

The Dolphins could offer #3 overall this year, another high pick, Tua, and a pick next year.  Would give them a young QB with potential (who they might like more than the Qbs in the draft), the ability to draft a stud at 3rd, and more resources to build.

It sounds like the Panthers are ready to give up #8 and a boatload of picks as a third option.

What could the Eagles offer that would be close?  More importantly, how in the hell could the Eagles absorb his cap number this year?

I said on these boards when it was announced that Russell Wilson was available, that this is something the owner/GM would look into to the fullest extent.  That was back before Wentz was traded, when he could have been an asset to provide in trade to an acquiring team.  I have no doubt they would explore options for Watson, but it would seem that they have no cap room and not nearly as much to offer the Texans in a trade.

Maybe Houston really loves Jalen Hurts.

It’s not going to happen but Watson’s cap number for 2021 is 15.9 mil. It’s actually not very high. It’s 2022 when it jumps to like 40 mil

Wow... this is just a little too convenient for the Texans, too.  Watson is in perhaps the most high profile contract dispute in the NFL in ages, with millions along with the fate of a multi-billion dollar business on the line, and all of a sudden this comes out?  No details yet, just press and tweets from a plantiff lawyer?  Fishy.... to say the least.

We have seen how both real and fake #metoo accusers are used to destroy people, and to influence a variety of situations.  You are witnessing that now with the Gov of NY, who will be taken out with #metoo, when his more serious crimes, political motivated decisions that led to thousands of deaths, will be conveniently forgotten.  (side note: no one doubts he is a known scumbag, who could very well be guilty of abuse beyond "hostile work environment" etc.)

I'm not sure what Watson did or did not do, whether he committed crimes, or whether he is a scumbag.  But the situation is highly suspicious, and should be considered such until some proof has been substantiated.  Normally I wouldn't pay much attention to this kind of thing... but I will be interested here to see the accuser and complaint.

I mean his time to throw stats were in the middle of the pack but ahead of Mahomes or Wilson.  https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/passing#average-time-to-throw

Supposed to have Chipotle for lunch, future-me thanks you for the vivid description.

He definitely likes him some hero ball, but he delivers.

I think he made his name doing the BP spill litigation.  I mean an announcement on his Instagram seems like trash publicity.  It tells me that he thinks he's too smart to need to hire a PR firm to manage these types of things.  Most big firms that are filing types of suits issue a press release.  The press release usually isn't 90% about the firm filing the suit.

He’s only completed 68.5% of his passes the last three years. Had an average qb rating of 104.5. 85 tds to 28 ints. But clearly it was only cause of Hopkins meanwhile had his best statistical year of his career this past year without Hopkins. Most TD passes, most yards, least ints and highest Qb rating. But yeah but he’s unproven like Patrick mahomes....

Well the good thing about the legal process is that the accuser's veracity and the evidence will have to substantiate the claim.  I don't find it suspicious other than the accusation is against a well known player.  Certainly there is reason to believe that the accuser could be telling the lies. I will say that very few complaints are filed without vetting of the claims.  It's not like she walked into this attorney's office and he decided to file suit the next day.  She likely had some level of evidence that supported some claim.  It doesn't mean that she will prevail.  It's from the plaintiff's lawyer because it doesn't seem like there is a corresponding criminal case.

I ignore QB rating, it double counts and ignores a number of factors.

QBR, while far from perfect, is a much better gauge of QB play.  Watson was 12th in 2020, 7th in 2019, 13th in 2018.  Mahomes, 2nd, 2nd, 1st.
