I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

@BigEFly was on the insurance side of things as an Exec and not an attorney.

I think your take is missing the plaintiff's side of things.  He apparently was among the first to sue.   He was the lawyer featured in this NYT article: https://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/07/magazine/07oil-t.html

Funny thing is I believe every attorney in the numerous ads in that article was a plaintiff steering committee member just not him.  He does love his publicity.  We do share something in common.  I am not a Ken Feinberg fan either.  I was negotiating a huge multi plaintiff case with him as the mediator when he got a call to be the salary czar under the Recovery Act.  I was thrilled when he was replaced.   Not a BP fan either.  I have negotiated with them.  Not particularly impressed with their safety practices.  Surprised he took credit for the Texas City explosion litigation.  IIRC, he did not have the seriously injured or death claims.  He had the bus jumpers as I remember.   (Philly should be familiar with the term, bus jumpers.  It originated when the Philly transit authority added cameras to buses and instituted a policy of locking the doors on buses after accidents because they had an issue with people jumping onto the buses so they could make claims.  That happens a lot in refinery cases.  Operator employees cannot sue the employer.  That is most the people in the refinery.  The others are contractors, usually working on a turnaround or some such in an area that is shut down and usually a ways away from the incident.  But whenever there is an incident, those contractor employees tend to make claims even though they can be a quarter to a half mile away.).  Pretty sure Brent **** was the lead plaintiff counsel in that litigation. Been over fifteen years so I may be a bit fuzzy.

Reddick and Perryman...very solid moves.

YAY Eagles!  Love just sitting here with the hopeless feeling knowing we can't even entertain the thought of signing someone right now.

His salary is fully guaranteed as of 4 PM. So you are stuck with him unless you want to take a $10 million dollar cap hit.

I stand corrected on that statement. It is possible to trade him and get that $10 million back. I really don't see that happening though.

It's only base salary. They can trade him.

Depends on what they're offered, If he has a decent year, he can get a FA deal that should land a 4th rd comp pick given how overpaid edge rushers are these days.

So better off getting that one season out of him and the comp pick unless someone "makes an offer you can't refuse."

I'm fine keeping Barnett for one more year to see if he can late bloom Brandon Graham style for us.

He's shown flashes and it's not like I'm expecting us to light the league on fire next year anyway.

Thanks and that sounds like a really interesting career (at least to an IP nerd like me).  And you're right about how difficult some of this stuff can be to those who don't devote their practice to it.  My favorite kind of case is where I'm going against a commercial litigator who thinks anyone can handle a Lanham Act case.  The best IP litigators (of which I am not one) are the people best able to explain these concepts in ways that a jury will appreciate.

That's the inanity of the bar exam, pass this and you can represent any client - sure you can. And every MD can perform brain surgery.

I enjoyed litigation but wasn't cut out to be a litigator, but law firms are dumb, they slotted me into regulatory law b/c of my energy expertise but I had never taken administrative law. I tried to convince them that my litigation experience would be invaluable (since the most important part of business litigation, and probably IP litigation as well, is the damage calculations, most cases are settled, and business exposure to potential losses determines the amount of the settlement). What I really wanted to do was antitrust law, but no one would interview me, seems antitrust lawyers think they actually understand Industrial Organization theory (like the average lawyer could read an economics journal article and have a clue!).

The two most arrogant groups of lawyers I've dealt with are Corporate Law partners and law professors without advanced degrees. In both cases, they don't know what they don't know.

One of the funnier aspects of this free agency is the Eagles were always rumored in every FA WR/CB/whatever usually just by agents to make it look like their client is in demand. This year we are so broke no one is even bothering try to fake link us to anyone.

Very interested to see what this DL looks like with the new scheme. My guess is we're in for several surprises from that group, both good (Cox returning to form) and bad (major dropoff from Graham).

Well that's solid.  If he comes back at the same level as before talk about a bargain of a deal.

I don't mind not signing people right now.  Remember, Howie's plan to extend the Super Bowl window was Desean Jackson, Malik Jackson and to draft WRs like Jalen Reagor and JJAW over the other options that were available.   The fewer moves Howie makes, the better.   Sadly though, he's not going any time soon.

I don't mind either....it's the fact that we know we can't that I don't like.  Both of those players make the Eagles defense better though.  It's also really frustrating seeing teams that value linebacker continue to do so.  The Panthers always make sure they have solid LB.  Jealous of that mindset.

Never thought I would root for the Bengals to win something, but here we are.

My sources say Golladay will not sign with the giants.

Does coming off an injury mean you can't stay on the field anymore?
