I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Wow, holy f'n crap, just when you think this team can't be any dumber they hit a new low

Not the team... Howie is the one negotiating these contracts and deciding who to pay.

So, obviously, you go and give more than DOUBLE to a guy who is now another year older.  36 years old now.

The draft is in 5 weeks.

I am pretty sure that they have not updated for the Brooks restructure, and have not added Anthony Harris deal yet, so the current cap number is in flux.

OTC probably not but I'd think the NFLPA would be the most up to date and have the actual number including those deals

doesn't denver need a TE now

They have Noah Fant and Albert O.

Not sure they'd be a team interested in Ertz.

I would have rather signed Mitch Trubisky for less than Joe Flacco for more.

Howie slow played the backup market only to overpay for Flacco when Brissett was far more reasonable. Trubisky looks like a damn steal.

Hopefully that $3.5M is BS.

What happened to their TE

Flacco is better than Brissett though

you remember the fun times last year when we wanted a cheap back up quarterback and they said well doing it in the second round was the best possible way to do it cause he’s cheap and multiyears out of him. And we were trying to win a division last year and could’ve actually used a veteran backup in case wentz got hurt (prior to the season not in hindsight) especially during a pandemic. Fun times that now we are ok spending on a veteran QB during a rebuild.

3.5m can make 7.5 with incentives. Jeez.

Stupid signing.

Who the hell is going to trade a draft pick for Nate Sudfeld?

A late round QB pick

Play under Brian Daboll and Josh Allen or all unknowns

Flacco. Meh.

Flacco signing is dumb.  Waste of money.

Not quite sure what people were expecting in a backup quarterback.  $3.5 is definitely reasonable.  Flacco is a veteran backup who knows he's the backup.  He's been around in different offenses, won a Super Bowl and is a great leader.  It's clear that this is now Jalen Hurts team no matter how we feel about it.  They aren't going to draft a quarterback in the 1st, spend $3.5 on a backup and have Hurts as 3rd string.

This is the kind of move they should have made last year to backup Wentz.  Instead, they drafted Hurts, messed with Carson's head and here we are.

He has zero chance to theoretically beat out Allen. Hurts is far from entrenched here.

I remember paying Bradford and Chase Daniel and trading the farm for Wentz.

OK go through that list I put out there of the last 42 Super Bowl teams that played. I’m guessing almost all those teams besides the patriots because they’re an outlier due to Brady probably had somebody around 1000 yards or over 1000 yards receiving.

In fact i did it. of the last 42 teams to play on the super bowl 28 have had 1000 receiver (we not TE who did it) and 14 didn’t. The 2005 Steelers in ward came 25 yards short and Edelman in 2018 came 28 otherwise it’s 30 to 12. Teams that won the super bowl of those 21 teams that won 13 did have 1000 receiver. thats doesn’t include tight ends who also got 1000 receiving otherwise it’s 15.

And yet the eagles won a super bowl without a 1000 yard receiver which was the point of my comment.

I feel like you are either misunderstanding my original comment, taking it out of context or just wanting to argue

The post had the pic if the dog drinking a cup in a house on fire and below said eagles haven't had a 1000 yard WR since 2015...

Below that it said Howie- everything's fine

Normally I'd agree with the sentiment except during those all of 4 seasons which they didn't have a 1000 yard receiver they won a super bowl and made the playoffs 3 of those 5 seasons so

One can argue that one " needs" 1000 yard receivers to win the super bowl using the eagles from 2015-2020 isn't a good example seeing as stated they didn't need a 1000 yard WR to win it all.

The weird issue with Flacco...

If Hurts goes down (and maybe even if he doesn't), the Eagles will ACTIVELY want to tank.  This is a 2-6 win team with Hurts.  We don't need a backup that can step in and win a game.

Unless we are paying Flacco 3.5m to mentor Hurts (we aren't), this makes no sense.

Kind of funny, Carson had the injury prone label, only QB to start all 16 games for the Eagles since 2008, and he did it twice.

We hate devoting cap space to useful things — like active players and starters.

The GM thinks his team is good though. So a backup QB to keep the team afloat is valuable.

TBF, not having any backup is dumb. We didn't have to pay this though.

I am not saying he wants to dethrone Josh Allen but look what Daboll did to his career. Clearly, Mitch sees previous success with a QB that has a similar style of play.
