Because he's not being overpaid.  3.5 mil for a veteran backup QB (who had interest from at least 1 other team) is about right.

Ironically, that same backup QB, a year younger got only $1.5M last year.   So, paying him $2M more isn't overpaying?   How many teams were beating down his door?   He was with the Jets last year... the Eagles had to outbid the Jets to land him this year?    And if the answer is: "yes", then that says everything about the state of the franchise, doesn't it?

But, once again, Flacco is merely a symptom.  Not the problem.   The problem is the person making these moves and still overpaying.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

BLG is an NFL exec now?  Nah, he's not.

He was tweeting a quote from an NFL exec given to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. It was part of an article on BGN that gave a bunch of links to other Eagles stories that they do every morning.

My word.

At least nobody will be screaming to put in Flacco in the game day threads!

Well, we'll see which is signed first... a LB or a CB.

Are you kidding?  If Hurts plays like he did vs DAL or WFT I'll be saying it before halftime Week 1

Interesting mock draft by Bucky brooks. Has the eagles selecting fields at 6. But i do t get the Jets not moving out of 2 if they don’t take a QB. The value is way too high for someone who wants a QB to pass up. And i love Sewell

Your not addressing the point.  You made a claim and then didn't back it up.  And Howie moving money around for aged players to get under the cap is hardly something to celebrate.

It's like starting a fire and then asking for praise because you swept up the ashes.

If only he had not put me on ignore over some made  up nonsense, and got to see my cap updates.

We are not in good cap shape in 2022.

Might be one of those mocks based on where players end up, not the spot... if you flip 2 and 4... then it makes sense.  Jets flip out to Falcons, but he just didn't work in trades.

@downundermike  This is what AceNova actually posted.  But edited.  I had to copy off of IP quote about Flacco

Quote this for him to see.

3 weeks ago we had 73.3 million in cap room for 2022, today we have 26.7 million.  We only have 37 players under contract.

I’m pretty sure Philadelphia fans in general are becoming more delusional by the year. It would explain some of the things i see people try to defend on this board.

I don’t see atlanta going QB. Look at the restructure of Matt Ryan’s contract they just did. His cap number in 2022 is 48 mil. His dead money is 40.4 to release or trade him. So if you take a QB at 2 or 4 he’s sitting basically for a year. And Ryan is back in 2022 with those numbers and likely to be restructured. I don’t see them taking a QB at four and sitting him for 2-3 years. I could be wrong but that restructure makes it less likely they go QB. Plus Ryan is 36 and still playing at a high level. I guess they could deal him but eating 40.4 mil of dead money is even more than wentz

Wow.   For a minute there I had to question my own sanity... I never posted that.  Then I figured out what you did.

Also doesn’t include goedert who needs a new deal. Mailata who needs a new deal (I’m betting he gets close to vaitai if he plays the way he did last year since he’s younger, higher upside than vaitai did when he got to free agency and could have played just well by that point). Sanders is also up for an extension. And that doesn’t include Barnett extension if he finally emerges

Fields makes a ton of sense for them.

Would’ve if they didn’t restructure Ryan two weeks ago. His dead money in 2022 is 40.4 trading or releasing him. I guess it’s possible they trade or cut him as the eagles took 33 mil with wentz. I find it harder to believe they restructured him to that type of restructure to do that.

Yes. Howie has his accounting tricks and sometimes it works out, but the root problem is the moves he makes. It seems counterintuitive to give the guy credit when he preforms accounting magic... which is needed to fix moves he NEVER should have made in the first place.

That's what I get for trying to justify Bucky Brooks' mocks.  I generally don't find them interesting or even close to what ends up happening... and I really would be upset if the Eagles go Fields at #6.

Yeah i tend to think if the board fell that way the eagles would be dumb for not trying to trade out with both fields and Lance on the board and teams like Denver, Carolina, San Fran and Patriots wanting a QB.

Oh I don't know about that

Best possible case scenario for the Eagles is if Lawrence, Fields, Lance and Wilson go top 5 forcing all the non-QBs down ... then someone wants to give up draft capital to come up to #6 and draft Devonta Smith.

No doubt they are heavier , but they all were 4.57 guys

I think Smith is in the 4.4s

How do you think he will fare in the best ability dept. with that slender frame ? I think the main concern with him, great tape and maybe unfair. Waddle 3” shorter but 10 lbs heavier and also a tad bit speedier around 4.3’s

Right? We had people when foles struggled against the niners in 2014 calling for Sanchez lol.

I feel like most most have #1 Trevor Lawrence, dead lock.  Every other pick after that is basically just a crapshoot.

QB at #6 makes no sense for us.  Pitts or Ja'Marr Chase will be the pick.

I would be tempted to get Sewell if he somehow dropped to #6.  Franchise OTs don't grow on trees.
