I would prefer to keep 3 first rd picks over Russel

Yup, 3 players under rookie contracts.  That could be 2-3 starting OL/DL too.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I almost wonder if they felt like they were dealing with Monopoly money. They have so many picks and are in a position to get the same player at 6 that they wanted at 3 and still got an extra 1 and 3 for the effort.

Gotta remember that extra first is a long way from now in 2023 and the 3rd they got this year is apparently a comp pick so almost a 4th. That’s not great value imo for moving from 3 to 6.

They also seem to be still very salty about the Maxwell/Alonso/Feeley trades.

I feel that. I like the trade TODAY but with new info we are allowed to change opinions.

I didn’t hate the trade. I’m waiting til more info. I not mad but I’m also not this is the best trade ever.

Eagles take Mac Jones at pick 12 🤣

Wouldn’t be that ridiculous as he seems to be climbing but I sure hope not. In fact, he could very well be a fit at 12 if he gets past the Dolphins, Panthers, and Broncos. Teams may pay more for #12 to get him if he’s there to prevent the Vikings or Patriots from nabbing him. Could see the Redskins calling the Eagles although they should not give them a lane to a potential franchise QB.

The real question Howie is thinking is does 3 first's pry Russel Wilson away from Seattle?

I like Wilson but I am in NO WAY trading 3 1st round picks for a soon to be 33 year old quarterback.  The Seahawks have had a superior roster to the Eagles for the past how many years? The great Russell Wilson hasn't made the Super Bowl in 7 years...with a better roster than the Eagles.  What makes anyone think that Russell WIlson is going to come here with this roster full of JAGs coached by Nick Sirani and win a SB anytime soon.

Do you want to trade 3 first round picks, guys who could be the foundation of your team for a quarterback who is soon to be 33 and will have crap around him?  He isn't winning a Super Bowl on his own.  First 3 years here is going to be this team rebuilding so by the time he's 36 you might have a competitive roster.  We would trade for him just to waste valuable years away.

The Cowboys 90s dynasty was built by trading Herschel Walker away and then using those draft picks to build the core of that team.  This Eagles team has no core.  We have a good player here...a good player there but no sure things.  The Eagles need to build a team, they need to bring in as much young talent as possible.  They need as many picks as possible so Howie can hit on a few of them.

Please, do not trade for a veteran QB.

Getting a 1 two years from now to move down three places seems awesome to me.

Players that do not excite me if we stay at 12 are Paye and Farley (injury).

The trade value chart on drafttek grades out pretty close to the trade. Wash out the 2021 picks and Howie got a 2022 1st round pick for the equivalent of a late 2021 2nd round pick.

If I’m a QB needy team and not picking early , I am drafting Davis Mills and as early as late rd 1 , nice thing is , teams picking that late won’t be forced to start him ,

This kid looks pretty good.  Potential sleeper in the 3rd round.

Eagles are not going to be passive about a 1st round QB pick.

If they're getting a QB this year and the rumors are true, they're trading up to 2 for Zach Wilson or pulling the trigger on Deshaun Watson if he gets cleared of the accusations.

My dream scenario is Waddle falls to 12 and the Eagles use all 3 of the 1sts next year to load up for the future. I don't think any of that actually happens.

This is only true if you're trying to win now.

TO OLD

When has Howie ever traded multiple high draft picks for an expensive player in his 30's?

That would be the anti-Howie move.

The Howie move is to trade mid and low round draft picks for proven players with 1-2 years left on their rookie deal.

Howie's pattern of behavior is to trade for players at positions he blew in the draft. That he might use high picks on Wilson would align with that behavior. He precludes another draft failure by acquiring a proven vet, even if he overpays in draft capital. To my mind, it's pure Howie.

Definitely not.

Haven't visited PE.com in I don't know how long.  Funny, I mentioned Luther Broughton as a guy I thought was underused when he was here.

Oh who knows what they’re going to do. My ideal scenario is Waddle too. I’m thinking one of Waddle, Smith, Pitts, or Parsons will be available. Either one instantly makes this team better.

Whoa buddy! Lol Anyone with half a brain knows it would be a monumental mistake..but this is Howie we're talking about.

In his entire career he has never given up a single first round pick, let alone three, for a player over 30 at any position.

You are engaging in delusions to fit a narrative to a guy you don’t like.

Just think about Howie's thought on "the most important position in sports", as i heard him state before, and "quarterback factory" and "we will always look to improve that position". If Little Howie weasel thinks there's a chance he could get Russell there's no way he could resist.

Unless they somehow bring in a potential starter at corner opposite Slay this pick is going to be Surtain, Farley or Horn.

I never said he did. What I am saying is that if it happened, I wouldn't be surprised one bit. I don't know Howie, so I can't truly like or dislike him. I freely admit that I dislike the majority of his draft decisions though.
