Trading up for a QB hasn't exactly worked out recently #NFLDraft

DJ specifically just mentioned the Eagles make sense for Paye at 12. The only team he mentioned...

 Fans need to realize that mock drafts they read on the internet aren't the bible.  They are never correct.  How random people online or NFL journalists predict a draft will play out has no bearing on how the draft will actually play out.  If you like a player then you move up to make sure you get that player.  You don't know what other teams have interest in that same player .

Definitely not. It'll be Wilson or it'll be Fields. Either I think could be great in a Shanahan offense.

A 1st rounder is only discounted in value IF you're trying to win now. So it's worth more than a 2021 2nd if time is not a factor.

Chris Simms who has a connection with Shanahan said it, Orlovsky said it.

 

Simms has connections with Bucs and never gets anything right , he is guessing like everyone else

I think that's probably a fair point. Niners are mortgaging their future to some extent. They want results in the next 3-5 years but with the team the have more immediately too.

So 5 QBs before we pick. Pitts, Chase, Sewell, Parsons, Surtain, Smith, Waddle. I’ll take any of them gladly. All of those could’ve been considered at 6. But no way Howie picks from this group - would make too much sense.

You can debate the details but trading down was a good strategy in this case.

I like the move.  Give Hurts a chance.  If it doesn't work, you have ammunition to get your QB next season.

There will be good players at #12 (assuming Howie will identify them).

That is the problem.  6 was almost idiot proof, 12, not so much.
