He gave his teary eyed goodbye presser, said he wants to get moved or released sooner rather than later and his brother said he wants out. Only way he sticks around is if he gets a new contract, otherwise I don’t see how he comes back.

Oh yeah I'm well aware and still think he is.  However, the further we get in to the offseason with him on the roster then more I think there's a slim chance....slim being like 5%.   We all thought moving him was imperative to get under the cap but it wasn't.

Never know.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

If Parsons turns out to be the next Devin White or even better we got a good one if we take him.

Not only does this franchise never draft blue chip talent but it avoids it like the plague.  Chase and Pitts staring at us at 6 when we have literally nothing, we decide well let’s just go backwards and pray something falls.

Like 238 , he ran a 4.42 at 236

David is listed at 234 , but I bet late in season he is in 228 area

You lost me - who will never be an Eagle? Levon Kirkland was an Eagle in 2002.

There was a legendary thread in 2002 (yes, we've been doing this for that long) basically titled "Here's why Kirkland will never be an Eagle."

He signed with the team days later.

I see - I don't remember that thread.

Don't feel old. You're not the geezer with memory problems. I've been on the EMB since Dave's first Eagles Digest version and while I remember controversial discussions regarding Lindros at the time I don't recall anyone questioning his greatness. All the other HOFers talk about him with awe - Gretzky said he changed the game - the first true power forward. I know you know this but it's just why I find the "Eric Lindros greatness is a myth" odd. Maybe I simply dismissed the suggestion and that's why I don't remember.

Anyway - thanks for making me feel old.

Looks the Eagles or sending scouts and coaches to see Justin Fields pro day. I like him better at 12 than 6.

The Reno Mahe thread was pretty amazing too.  Wish we could find some of those pictures that were made.

If we’re drafting a QB in the first round, im not sure it matters what pick we pick him at. If he doesn’t become, or does become a franchise QB, those six picks in between won’t matter

Justin Fields at 12 would be a real kick in the nuts.

A qb you weren’t high enough on at 6 to make your franchise qb...and then you say oh what the heck we’ll do it at 12 just because he wasn’t supposed to fall this far?  Great plan.

I think it’s just misdirection since every single team might suspect we are 100% taking whomever of Waddle/Smith/Pitts/Chase falls.

This is exactly my fear.

For anyone who actually thinks the Eagles might go qb...

How many times in NFL history has a team drafted a qb in round 1 after trading down?

The one with the kids chasing him was gold

With those hybrid guys, there is a fine line between covering like a cb and tackling like a LB...and covering like a LB and tackling like a CB.

Jenkins crossed onto the wrong side of that line more than anyone would like to admit.

I think that is a role that would be best phased out of this defense.  We invested an enormous amount of money in run stopping DTs and then put a safety in the box...as we watched the other DBs get torched deep.

Lets stop doing that.

I'd be cool with that.  Keep investing in the DTs and start investing in actual starting quality LBs and phase out the traditional in the box SS role and instead invest in 2 rangy ballhawking FS who can both tackle...enough.  This seems like what you need on D to combat how the rules now favour the O, especially in the passing game.

I have lots of fears with Howie running the draft.

We're not just any team, we are a quarterback factory!

This. Even if a QB high on their board falls, I would imagine other teams like the Pats, WFT, or a wildcard to swoop in before us as we’re the only threat to take one between 10-14.

EJ Manuel!

I apologize if this has been discussed recently, but I'm texting with a buddy right now about our current left tackle situation.  It's a fun topic for debate.  I never wanted to draft an OT in the first round (there's too much log jam and way too much unknown), but how does this play out in training camp?

Eagles have a 1st round draft pick (that they traded up for), that has great feet, is incredible in pass protection, and from what I saw when he played, was really good his rookie year at LT when Peters decided he didn't feel like playing for the (insert # here) season in a row.  He was thrown in at RT and he was terrible.  I get that, but I also look at the coaching staff outside of Stoutland, and the rest of them were clearly incompetent.

Then we have a 7th round draft pick (which we also traded up for just for referencing) that was the biggest freak of nature rugby player that moves unnaturally for someone his size.  The fact that he never played football 3 years ago is astonishing to me.  He proved his worth this past season and was one of the only bright spots of the entire team.  He is already a competent starter in the league, and his technique isn't even great yet.   @justrelax would know much more than me here.

Mailata is in his 4th year of his rookie contract.  He's the freak of nature athletically, but if he can continue to show improvement, can the Eagles afford him?  Vaitai proved that this league is desperate for swing tackle talent.  Based on the cap numbers, if Mailata performs this year, I think we're screwed.

Dillard is in the 3rd year of his rookie contract, and we have that 5th year option.  He's proven to cry at practices, but he's also discredited on here for his performance his rookie year (other than at RT).
