Notre Dame LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah - who is projected to go in Round 1 - was asked about the #Eagles, and he went on to explain why he believes not everyone can play there: "You gotta have some fierceness to you to survive in Philly."

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

When Lurie purchased the team he was asked about his involvement - his answer (paraphrasing of course) "I'm a fan and as such I'm going to be a big ball of questions - I will always want to know what is going on with my team - but I will try to find the best football people to run the team and then get out of their way". It seams as though that has changed - I would like to know if it actually has and when and to what degree.

Actually, for all the smoke, only two times has any reporter documented Lurie interfering, one was dumping an aging TE (who no other team picked up) to make roster room for a younger player under Rhodes, the second was pushing Doug to hire real assistant coaches. There may have been more, but I suspect not many. Lurie respected AR, and there was no point with Chip.

Doug earned a couple years to run the show, but face it, his heart wasn't in the administrative side (hiring and firing, which means spend a lot of time networking, building contacts around the league, gathering information about lower level people on other teams), or he'd have a list of solid candidates. He seems to like coaching, he may simply be the Peter Principle in action.

698 hours to go. We should be on the clock in about 700 hours. Getting there.

Liked the trade.

Carry on.

I liked the trade too.  I question the timing, but there are more factors in that than us fans are aware of.

Make the trade on draft day and you can see how the board breaks, maybe have more opportunity to bend someone over in desperation...might also get stuck though.

I think Howie sensed the talent drop off around 6, as did many of us.  He knows he’s been burnt in that position in the draft multiple times in the past and jumped at the opportunity to slide down for an extra first.

Tight end Kyle Pitts ran an unofficial 4.44 40 at 6-foot-5, 245 pounds. If the numbers hold, Pitts will be the 6th prospect in our data (since 2003 draft) with a 99 production & athleticism score. The others: Mario Williams, Eric Berry, Saquon Barkley, Denzel Ward & Devin White

Best guess:

JAX: Lawrence.  Set in stone.

NYJ: Wilson.  Set in stone.

SF: Fields.  They may the move for a QB.

ATL: Pitts.  Easy consensus.

CIN: Chase.  Easy consensus.

MIA: Waddle.  Pretty safe guess.  I'm guessing they are going for the Alabama WR that didn't say it was an easy choice for Mac Jones over Tua.

DET:  Sewell.  Too much value for a team that only has one good OT.

CAR: Jones/Lance.  Prime spot for someone to trade for one of them if CAR doesn't take him themselves.

DEN: Wild card at this point.  Maybe they see some Von Miller in Parsons.  If they don't draft Lance/Jones, the remaining QB will fall, fall, fall.

DAL: Surtain.  A CB is a safe assumption.

NYG: Rousseau.  Bit of a reach, maybe they see JPP in him.  Maybe they go CB.  CB/DE is a safe assumption.

EAGLES: Good chance the Eagles are choosing between Devonta Smith, Paye, and whatever CB Dallas/NYG leave on the board (likely Horn).  Possible trade-down opportunity if Jones/Lance have suitors.

4 and 5 are by no means "easy consensus”.

A lot of mocks have Atlanta grabbing a QB or trading down with another team that wants the 4th QB.

Most mocks have Cin taking Sewell as their OL was horrible and they already have 2 decent young WRs.

He will end up being the 2nd best player from this draft

this is IMO very likely to be and i like horn at 12

Horn in the first.  Toney in the 2nd.

We all want Horn, so no doubt Dallas selects him.

I like horn I just think 12 us a bit high for him though I think 12 is a bit high for pretty much everyone that might be available there.

If they took horn I wouldn't be upset even though I'm not a fan of taking corners in the first and I think there might be better value trading down a few more spots.

We'll see, I don't remember going into a draft with so much uncertainty after say the top 5, this draft just seems to me to be more unpredictable than normal and so full of so many prospects with so many questions due to the nature of last season and the truncated evaluation process.

That can not be true.  The players are ranked, starting at 1, through however far they rank them.

There is a 12th ranked player on every draft board, so 12 is not to high for the 12th ranked player.

Either way, it’s a qb.

Of Fields/Lance/Jones, one of them is going #3.

Baring another trade, the remaining 2 will not go until the 8/9 slots, controlled by CAR and DEN.  Chances are one, or both, will either draft one of those 2 qbs or trade out for someone else to do so.  Whoever remains after pick 9 will likely slide.

I can’t believe the 49ers would be stupid enough to move up to 3 for Mac Jones. He might have a higher floor than Lance, but Lance’s, Wilson’s, and Fields’s ceiling is much higher.  Jones isn’t even that much of an upgrade over Jimmy G, if at all.

The eagles have so many needs it's tough for me to pin down which position to pick.

There could be some good corners LBs and safeties in the second as well as WRs.

And the eagles need all 4 and then some.

Agreed. They have so many needs plus multiple players for multiple positions no less. It's why I wanted to trade back initially. I wouldn't mind another trade back to try and snatch a second. Would have to move to 19 or so though.

I've been on about QBs going 1-4, but I wonder if Chase and Pitts are considered a step above everyone else to the point that the top 5 looks like this:

1. Lawrence

2. Wilson

3. Jones/Lance

4. Pitts

5. Chase

Would conflict with reports that the NFL sees the #1 WR situation as closer than perceived, but there seems to be too much smoke to this.

This is the early trend.

I think there is a 95% chance the pick is one of Waddle/Smith/Paye/Surtain/Horn.

It seems the late whispers have Waddle edging ahead of Smith.  Weighing in at 170, 23 years old, and not running will tend to sink a prospect.  I bet Waddle is off the board and the Eagles are left choosing between Smith and defense.

Will throw Slater into the mix as well.

Really like Toney, gonna be better than our 1st rounder from last year.

There is a 12th ranked player on every draft board, so 12 is not to high for the 12th ranked player.

And yet in some drafts there aren't 32 players with first round grades.

Comes down to how and where teams rate players.

In other drafts some of these players that will go in the first round would go in the 2nd.

There are guys that will go 25-32 that will be comparably ranked to the guys between 11-24

I don't think the talent margin between 12-32 is that wide which is why I think 12 might be too high as one could trade down and get a comparably talented player.

Toney or Marshall Jr if you had to pick one?

Love Toneys ability but his up and down  production as a receiver in college is worrisome, though he could be a better pro than a college player in the right system that utilizes his unique skills.

If one wants him to be a guy that lines up in one spot and runs a full route tree one will be disappointed but as a guy that can be utilized like the niners use deebo on jet sweeps and screens and gadget plays he could be really dangerous

Where as marshall could come in day one and compete for the eagles X or Z receiver.

Guess it depends on what the heck Siriani is doing in his offense and with his receivers

Is this about right?

Tier 1A: Chase

Tier 1B: Waddle, Smith, Bateman

Tier 2: Toney, Marshall Jr., E. Moore, R. Moore

We'll see.

Last year everyone thought juedy would be the first WR off the board and instead Ruggs was so who knows what nfl teams are thinking.

Smith or waddle could go before chase, you never know.

Tier 1A Kyle Pitts.

In terms of athleticism this guy is just short of Megatron and TO.  That’s a pretty good WR IMO.    I also remember when half the NFL thought Justin Jefferson was just a slot receiver, he wasn’t and Pitts isn’t just TE.

I remember when half the NFL thought, choose a random player over the last 20 years was supposed to be the next big thing and ended up sucking.

Happens all the time, guys that were over looked turn into players and guys that were over hyped were duds.

Draft is a crap shoot, ya win some you lose some

Top 10 picks bust all the time.

- Saquon Barkley was a generational RB and went #2 overall. He's not the best RB in his draft class (Nick Chubb)
- Solomon Thomas, Leonard Fournette and Corey Davis went 3-4-5 in 2017.
- Dante Fowler went #3 right before Cooper/Scheff/Williams...then Kevin White went #7 overall. Lots of people had Kevin White ahead of Amari Cooper.

There's a high likelihood that one of Pitts/Chase is a disappointment and a very strong likelihood 3 of the top 5 QBs are not starters in 5 years.
