You can say that about any other position.  Then what are we even discussing it for?

Because there are a lot of skeptics of Mailata.  They say he's a risk.  I think a college pick is just as much of a risk but Mailata has already shown he can handle the NFL.  His only thing is experience.  The more he gets the better he will become.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Reuben Frank predictions:

-Eagles trade up for QB.  NO thank you.

-Eagles trade back in to round 1 for CB.  He claims there isn't a talent gap between 20 and 40.  If that's the case, trading up wouldn't make much sense IMO.

-RB is taken on day 2.  I said this late last week.  Travis Etienne is my sleeper surprise pick for the Eagles.  He might be too good of value to pass up at 37. (not what I want, just think).

-Dillard is used to trade up.  If using Dillard to move up saves them 37, 70 or 84 so be it.

If the Eagles trade up for Justin Fields I'm not even going to waste my time watching the rest.

And I doubt Dillard gets you more than a 4th right now.

Etienne was a great player.  But man, he already has a ton of miles on the tires.  No thanks.

Does he have enough juice to get 3 years out of him and then trade him year 4 (assuming he pans out)?

High mileage and has been banged up.

I would love Javonte Williams but don't see it happening.

Ha!

I think I might have to find something to break if Howie trades up for Justin Fields.

In other news Shefter reported that someone asked Kyle Shanahan if he could guarantee that Jimmy G would be on the 9ers come Sunday.

Shanahan replied "I can't even guarantee that anyone will be alive on Sunday."

Wow.  That's dramatic!!

If the CBs go high and the QBs do, some real talent will fall to the Eagles pick.  Part of me suspects Sewell could fall because of the opt out and how raw he is, especially with his arm length potentially limiting where he can play.

It will be interesting to see if a 5 and 6 are used with Ertz to go up into the 3rd or4th, with a pick next year. One way to rebalance the lower than normal talent pool

I don't think he will slide much if at all. The alternative is Slater who also opted out, has even shorter arms than Sewell but started 15ish more games.

I like Roob as a game reporter.

I've been listening to his podcast.  Not sure if team building is his forte.

Etienne might be off the board by 37. Javonte Williams will be long gone by 70. If they go RB at 70 or 84 it would likely be Michael Carter or Kenneth Gainwell. I still think they wait until day three and take more of a north/south power back like Stevenson or Sermon.

Teams at 4 through 11 can all use help on the OL.  Without any edge rushers to compete with, Sewell and Slater should be taken early,

Chris Simms has Fields falling all the way to #32 in his final mock.

I think both could be surprising slides - certainly from where they have been mocked to go over the past months.  With a number of teams reportedly looking at opt outs in a negative way, it will be interesting to see how it shakes out.  Certainly if Jones goes to SF at 3, it could really ripple down at the Panthers and Giants/Cowboys picks if a team wants Lance.  It only takes a Mile Maycock Clelin Ferrell type pick to make it all go a bit nuts,

You could probably argue Teams 1 through 32 could use help on the OL

Sounds like a classic case of CTE.

If Horn or Waddle are not there at 12, I'll be crossing my fingers for a trade down into the mid to late 20s.

At that point, there would be lots of routes to go.

I’d be cool with him at 12. I know I’m in a very small minority there.

Totally agree. He’s already a much better qb than Hurts.

That said I don’t see anyway he lasts until 12. He’s most likely going at 3.

*Sigh*

Would suck but...

A. Everything you hear over the next few days needs to be taken with a grain of salt

B. It would push down talent at other positions if BOTH corners are gone rather than one

C. Newsome, Farley, Samuel, Stokes, or Campbell would all be fine at 37 / with a trade up from there

I'd be whatever with him at 12 but that would just be another sign they have no plan in place

LT on NFL Network today compared Fields to McNabb. If the Eagles draft him, Philly would take the top spot over Alaska for highest % of suicide rate.

At least they wouldn't feel compelled to burn all the 1st rounders next year on a QB trade. The process would still suck, but whatever. I like Fields a lot even if the bust potential is higher than you'd like.

It’s gonna get wild.

I would agree unless they somehow knew he’d be there at 12, but even then it would suggest they didn’t love him as a prospect.

For that reason, I don’t see them taking a QB at 12.

If anyone finds a Jaelan Phillips O/U on any of the betting sites, hook your boy up.
