I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Sapp on Barmore

"Let’s wait for the evaluation,” Sapp said. "Because what I saw when I went over to the Yo Murphy Performance (Compound) was not even third-round material.”

Elaborating on that thought, Sapp spoke about when he traveled to Yo Murphy Performance Compound in Tampa to work with Barmore, who had eight sacks last year for the Crimson Tide.

"I had a chance to get him on the football field and walk him through the five steps to the quarterback, and if they’re telling me that this is a first round guy then Aaron Donald really did get blocked 70 percent on the double teams,” Sapp said. "I just promise you this, if these eyes right here that you’re looking at are telling a lie about talent, then shoot me. I won’t talk anymore football. If this kid’s a first-round pick then I won’t talk football (on social media) for a full year. I won’t make a tweet or an Instagram post unless the kids’ playing sports. It’s nothing personal, but I’ll take off a whole year if Barmore is a first-round pick.”

I got up at 5:30 a.m. and drove to Tampa to get there by 10:30 a.m.,” Sapp said. "I threw my hat and my lovely ROKA sunglasses . . . I’ve thrown my hat and my sunglasses, and at one point I’m sitting there like, ‘Do this,’ and he’s doing something else. To the point where another person said, ‘You’re not doing that,’ and he looked at both of us like, ‘What?’ So I tried it one more time, and then when he didn’t do it that time I picked up my glasses and my visor and I walked off. I didn’t say another word to anybody. I just left.”

Sapp believes that despite Barmore’s high ranking from draft analysts, they stand alone in that evaluation while those with the responsibility of actually making the draft picks likely view him much differently.

"I guarantee you they do,” Sapp said about draft analysts ranking Barmore higher than NFL front offices. "Because what you look at as a scout is the eye test on the tape. He was in the National Championship and I thought, ‘that the kid was a baller’ myself. I couldn’t wait to get up [to Tampa to work Barmore out.]”

And while Sapp argues that he wasn’t at the facility to coach Barmore up, but simply to help him round out parts of his game, the Hall of Famer wasn’t able to get through to the young defensive tackle despite his best efforts.

"I’m not coaching you up,” Sapp said of his time with Barmore. "I’m just watching what you’re doing to see if I can shave a little corner for you because I’ve watched the position. These eyes aren’t going to lie to me four feet down.”

Cook followed up Sapp’s statement with a question, does Barmore’s issue lie in the fact that he wasn’t willing to take his directions or that he couldn’t follow the directions? Sapp responded bluntly.

"Both,” Sapp said. "If I tell you to swing your left arm and you move your right, I’ve got a real issue – and that’s just one example. Trust me. For me to throw my visor and throw my $300 glasses, I’m telling you. I’m like, ‘Is there something wrong with me?'”

Little does Sapp know but Howie is the smartest guy in the room so Barmore at 12 makes all the sense in the world to him.

I'm debating about changing my pick in the contest to Newsome. There's been no link to him with the Eagles (which could be a sign they like him and are trying to keep it on the down low) and there's a good chance they might trade back if they can't trade up.  There was a report that there were a few GMs that liked Newsome better than Horn.  Howie likes to go against the grain.

If we waste valuable resources to trade up in the 1st round for an OT, I'm strangling my neighbor's poodle.

Chris Simms has Fields falling all the way to #32 in his final mock.

I'd say there's a zero percent chance that happens. He'd have to get past NE, WAS, CHI and NO.

My thoughts on Slater come from "where does he play in 2021"?

I believe the overwhelming majority of 1st round OL have a spot waiting for them.  Tra, Andrews, and Lane stepped right in.

I agree that Slater is worthy of #12.  But maybe to a team that has an immediate need or at least can afford to park him for a season.

We can park him for a season. In fact every guy who took a year off has lost technique and quickness and game presence. Who cares about 2021? Anybody who opted out of 2020 is a guess.

Simms' mock was what he would do, not what he thinks will happen.

Daniel Jeremiah has him as his 42nd overall player. Didn't even have Reagor in his top 50 last year so it makes sense

Etienne was a great player.  But man, he already has a ton of miles on the tires.  No thanks.

Does he have enough juice to get 3 years out of him and then trade him year 4 (assuming he pans out)?

High mileage and has been banged up.

I would love Javonte Williams but don't see it happening.

Etienne does have mileage but he doesnt need to be a bellcow back here. He would obviously be splitting with Sanders. Hopefully they could keep each other healthy splitting the load. But a good situation to have when one is banged up and you still have the other.

IMO the first round talent in this draft is mostly at the skill positions — WR, CB, QB with some OL mixed in.

3 guys I think go higher than expected

Rousseau

Basham

Radunz

Sean Lee retired today.  I know the Cowboys have Jaylon Smith and Vander Esch but you wonder if Michah Parsons sneaks in to the conversation for them.  Jerry loves a great linebacker group, is able to overlook off the field issues more than others and Parsons would be huge for that defense.

Yeah well that would a horrendous use of draft resources for the Eagles if they would draft a rotational RB that high.

Considering the mountain sized amount of needs and future needs right around the corner, yeah, agreed.

Agreed, Simms is very anti Fields for whatever reason. He has Mond graded ahead of him.

not sure... Most people thought Sanders is/was a good pick and he should have been a rotational RB except we havent had any other talent at the position to rotate with him.

Are you planning on starting opposite Slay at corner next year. Maybe I can start too if your or Slay get hurt.

You’re not sure that Etienne would be a terrible fit for the Eagles in either the 1st or 2nd round?

I think the premise was in the 2nd round.

I was a guy pushing for an RB in round 1 for years. And I was the first person on the EMB talking about Etienne since he was a freshman. Yet I am not ponding the table for him or any RB this year.

With all that said, I wouldnt hate it. I like RBs, and I like Etienne.

I thnk thatll be St Juste's job.

I think its going to be really hard for me to get worked up about anything they do this year.  The reality is that every position on this roster will need an infusion of talent over the 2-3 years and it doesn't matter to me that much the order in which they address it.  I'm also not going to freak out if they pick a guy at 12 that some 23 year old at thedraftnetwork.com ranked 18.

My main thing is I just want to draft for some upside.  Don't give me a fourth round pick where the first sentence on the scouting report is what a great special teams player they are.

Is there a QB in the 2022 draft worth a #1 overall pick?  I see Tyler Shough and a collection of QBs about 6’1 who don’t have rifle arms and don’t run as well as Lance, Fields .... or Hurts

Spencer Rattler, Sam Howell, Kedon Slovis, and there seems to be a ''Joe Burrow or Zach Wilson type'' every year who comes out of nowhere to get drafted early.

Yeah I basically don’t know anyone outside the top 20 because I just don’t care. I saw that Rock Paper Scissors interview today and I’m ready to fire Sirianni already. They’re a last place team through and through.

Cool. So Slay, a fourth round pick, Maddox, and Jacquet at corner as the top four corners. What could possibly go wrong.

It’ll be worse than that by week 6 so who cares

Nothing that isn't going to go wrong regardless.  We could take prime Deion Sanders at 12 and we're still not making the playoffs.

That wouldn’t shock me at all
