Couldn’t disagree more. It’s the kids decision. Maybe the other Coaches should recruit better and work harder. For one you’d think it’s be easier to get a kid to go elsewhere with the opportunity to play right away.

Not like Alabama was very good before Saban.

Maybe it's time to go back to old ways..I had a few friends go Div 1 in high school  show up with their pretty new camaro's and trans am's in their new college's school colors during recruiting season including a very pretty navy blue trans am with a BYU sticker...who woulda thought

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Yes, it counts. It applied to Ron Rivera last year.

Someone needs to call @mattmcginley7 to prep for his pro day

Say what you want, I'm super high on Mac Jones.  If we trade down and get a few more 2nd round picks, I think he's a "no brainer" pick if he falls to the 2nd round.

Bowles is pretty clearly a Rooney Rule interview. I’d love to hear what his proposed coaching staff would be. Can’t see it being inspiring at all for an owner who wants to get back to being a top 5 offense. At least Saleh can fall back on LaFleur.

Thank you for pointing this out.

The team is not just interviewing for a head coach; they’re hiring an entire coaching staff with new coordinators, position coaches, etc.  One of the biggest criteria will be the question of who a candidate will bring with them, what is their philosophy on staff, who are their coaching contacts.  I don’t have anything against Todd Bowles as a coach, but it’s hard to envision he’ll have a bright young mind as an OC coming along with him — and if he doesn’t, that’s a lot more leg work to do that coaching search.

You can just pay the $9.95 per month or the $29.95 per year and have no ads and then you can make trades and get trade offers.  Much more realistic.

yeah...no

waste of money

I felt like we needed to spice things up on here again during the coaching search. Should be part of the requirement of the coaching interview

This is why the rooney rule is stupid.

Bowles is wasting his time coming up here. he's not even in the top 5 of DC's around the country. He's an african american, he gets a nice lunch, probably private flight and wastes everyones time.

We want to interview Duce, Bowles, Saleh, etc. We'll be fine there.

Lurie said it was "top of my mind" to interview minority candidates.  Remember, he made a special press conference in June and spoke about racial justice.

They have Duce as an easy Rooney Rule candidate to check off.

It has to be two external, so Duce doesn’t count. And I don’t know if a Lebanese guy is considered a minority

Lebanese/Middle Eastern is definitely a minority.  Do you think minority only means black or Hispanic?

It's the kids decsions based on uneven playing field.

Clemson and Alabama have 20-30 more paid coaches then the majority of football teams

You have Billions and billion dollars sunk into the big schools while 250K at some where like Temple.

College is a joke. It shows itself daily. The only people who love it are rednecks who get their rocks off beating a school full of blind kids 74-0

I’m not disagreeing that bigger conferences have the advantage. They don’t have to choose Alabama is what I’m getting at.

Not sure what your point is about other stuff. My point is instead of Coaches/Schools making excuses maybe they should work harder.

Pete Carroll would be the top candidate

So what?  Are African Americans born in Africa?  You guys are out of control around here sometimes.  SMH.

The only issue if you hire saleh and Mike LaFleur is the de facto OC/HC of the offense is if LaFleur does a great job then he is likely to leave sooner rather than later and you have to find another OC. As we’ve seen since reich left that’s not exactly an easy thing to do for the eagles.

Yeah , like there aren't other coaches that win games.

Niners haven’t exactly had great QB play the past few years.  Bringing LaFleur in doesn’t inspire me

Pederson is your typical passive-aggressive personality, he whines about having coaches forced on him, yet all his choices are subordinates who won't threaten him.

Notice Pederson never lobbied to add a top OC candidate, like gee, I need someone up and coming like Kafka. No he wanted Groh, then Taylor.

The real problem was after winning the SB, they couldn't fire Pederson and replace him with Reich.

What I think Howie wants in a HC is someone between Chip's megalomania and Pederson's insecurity, that is, a HC who isn't a control freak and has no problem hiring top flight assistants and letting them have some of the credit. AR in KC after he was humbled when he ran into the Peter Principle.

I was thinking it would be a toss up between reid, Carroll and Arians

No I just don’t know what their rule considers a minority
