January 12, 20214 yr If true... and both Lurie and Howie were the ones behind the Hurts pick...wow...

Remember, he made a special press conference in June and spoke about racial justice. They have Duce as an easy Rooney Rule candidate to check off. Lurie is also one of three owners to hire a minority prior to the inception of the Rooney Rule.

Do you think minority only means black or Hispanic? Well when Jeff Lurie was asked about interviewing minorities he said he had some African Americans lined up....so there's that. You're fooling yourself if you don't think it's geared towards AA.
January 12, 20214 yr If there's smoke, there's likely fire...and if Lincoln Riley is the next coach....all signs point to keeping Hurts and Wentz being traded....

All this team does is over correct itself constantly. They probably had a 3rd round grade on him but panicked because of the Russel Wilson story.
January 12, 20214 yr Jets appear to be making a final push for Saleh now that the Eagles are showing interest

So, according to BGN trading Hurts for pennies on the dollar is bad, but trading Carson for a fraction of a penny on the dollar is ok? I'm no investment expert but that sounds horrible.

Hurts really has no leg to stand on to request a trade. He didn't play well enough to take the starting job from Wentz and he didn't play well enough to make any team out there want to give up significant capital for him in a trade. This isn't the NBA where if a player requests a trade, you just have to do it and make the deal for a 6th or 7th rounder to appease the player. Hurts still has value to this team as a backup and I think he does a good job of disrupting games for opposing defenses that have to adjust to his style. I didn't think he played well in the four games he started, specifically in the second half of those games, but there is still room for him to grow and he at least established himself as a competent backup.
January 12, 20214 yr All aboard the Boles and Saleh bandwagon. Done with this soft offensive head coach mindset. This team needs to get some attitude and toughness back.

Shame, they used to offer some good stuff, but it's just ridiculous, they throw for clicks in the face of logic. That being said. hurts would make a great backup Qb, as a running qb, does have an element that can win a few games.

I doubt he would just write him off immediately. Just now, Ipiggles said: BGN's takes have gotten so bad, I stopped following them. It's complete hot take click bait anymore. January 12, 20214 yr Todd Bowles is a frustrating DC. He'll blitz a lot, but leave his CBs off, so QBs will routinely throw hot reads into soft coverage. When it works, it looks good. When it doesn't work, a Bowles D can get light up by smart QBs. Also, Bowles is a 3-4 guy. If you're going to blitz a lot, you need to be able to come from all angles.

They probably had a 3rd round grade on him but panicked because of the Russel Wilson story. It actually goes more to the point that I’ve tried to make all year which was they didn’t use a second round pick on a back up quarterback. It makes no sense to just justify it as we just need a cheap back up quarterback so we decided to take one in the second round because we get 4 years out of him. That was a secondary reason. If that’s the case if they trade either Carson or Jalen hurts then they should do the same thing again this year but I’m guaranteeing you they aren’t going to do that. this comes down to the fact the Eagles and Jeffrey lurie/howie did not know what Carson Wentz they were going to get over the next two years. Was it late season 2019 or first couple months of 2019? Think Lurie fools gold comments from 2011. They knew they were married to Carson Wentz due to contract for at least two more years so they had to see what he was. Being the Eagles and thinking they are the smartest person in the room they decided well if wentz winds up not being like he was late 2019 Carson Wentz then if they can draft a quarterback and at the end of the two years he would be groomed and ready to play so that if they got rid of Carson Wentz they would have a smooth transition because he’ll be ready by that point in time. Meanwhile they could come up with the concoction and secondary and tertiary reasons that they need a cheap backup quarterback because their salary cap was bad in 2021, wentz had injuries in the past that people would buy it. if wentz winds up being late 2019 wentz all while they knew people were gullible to buy the backup theory. I would bet a ton of money they did not draft him simply to be the back up. They drafted him because they thought if things went south with Carson they would in two years have their future starting quarterback and be ahead of the curve. That makes more sense with how the Eagles logically think. They’ve never been about not spending money on a back up quarterback that they think is worth it. They overpaid chase Daniels and paid Nick Foles a good money. They tend not to want to be cheap with their back up quarterback cause they value it. This screams more of they believe hurts is capable of being a starter and a safety net to wentz
