How exactly did the team with THE lowest yards per pass attempt in the nfl and THE lowest air yards per pass and one of the higher pass/run ratios in the NFL get away from the short passing game?

The only time they get away from that is the bye week.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

That's because there is always a group of Eagles fans like always jump ship on a QB after one bad season or even a few games. The favorite QB is always the backup here.

Same can be said for those wanting Wentz back when Hurts was named the starter. Is that not wanting the backup QB?

The 2020 Eagles in one call.

Not true, if you're a good QB coach you believe in yourself and your ability to work with a top talent. All QBs have egos, or they'd never succeed at that position.

And having Wentz and Hurts is a plus, take over a team with a young QB and no plan B then you live and die with that QB, with the Eagles, you can give Wentz your best shot but know you can groom Hurts as plan B a year or two down the road.

I mean the being told what to do part.

Actually most fans here and what ive heard in conversations including Wentz backers wanted Hurts to start the rest of the season to prove it was Doug. Which as we saw Hurts struggled just as much.

No

I’m talking going into 2021

So when it’s your guy, it’s fine? But when it’s a different backup QB, it’s not. Funny.

How many games has Wentz started? And Hurts?

Starting Hurts in 2021 makes so much sense. If he is bad, then the team is probably bad, you get a high draft pick, and you know he's not the guy. If he is somehow really good, then you found a QB.

You commit to paying Carson in 2021, you also commit to paying him in 2022. Given what we know, is he really worth the risk?

I think we all are in a understanding that if Wentz is not the starter week 1, he will be traded before the season starts so that wont even matter. If Wentz is the starter and struggles again, I can bet there will not be many not supporting his benching and possible trade before the deadline.

Many QBs have started more games than their backup, doesn’t mean they should start more when they’re losing and bad.

What would that be?

What exactly do we know?

Per Garofolo...

"I’ve spoken to a lot of folks in and around this situation. And there’s a lot of factors at playing here and it’s obviously going to depend who the next head coach is. And right now, this was the point at which they were supposed to be having conversations with Carson Wentz about how can they bridge this thing and bring him back. But instead, surprise! They’ve got themselves a coaching search going on. And it was a surprise to some of the folks involved in this coaching search. They didn’t expect to be doing it at this point.

So, Wentz kind of on the back burner as far as those conversations to see if they can make this thing work in 2021. But I will tell you this: sources have told me that what the team is telling head coach candidates in interviews is: 1) the head coach will obviously have a big say in how they handle the quarterback position but 2) they do believe in this guy, they want him back.

So if you’re a head coach going into those meetings saying ‘I want Wentz out, and [Jalen] Hurts in,’ I think that’s probably going to hurt your standing in this interview process.”

Then why make the comment about people always wanting the backup QB when people vouching for Wentz are essentially doing the exact same thing?

Have you been a Eagles fan long or only since 2017? The backup QB has been the favorite QB in these parts for decades. My comment was about all QBs current and past. That group of fans have been the same in that aspect for a LONG time.

I remember being at a game(I go to every one) and fans were chanting for Tim Tebow. It never will change no matter who the QB is. Even your boy Hurts if hes the starter and struggles. Only takes a few games

Yeah I understand that. I get what you’re saying, I know the history. It doesn’t change the fact that it’s kind of funny that there are people clamoring for Wentz when he was latest a backup QB, and that they are technically doing that same thing.

If you're a HC who wants Wentz out, knowing that it's a 3 year rebuild and you can dump him after year 2, I don't want you b/c you're an idiot.

It's hard to find starting QBs, you don't throw one away with a 3 year track record of success b/c of one clusterf--- season.

And in two years, you can dump him with a limited cap hit when you have the cap room to do so, you can also know by then if Hurts can start, and whether you need to go to plan C. And if you don't win for a year or two b/c you started with Wentz, well, better draft position as you build up the rest of the team.

So a HC who wants to use a prime draft pick for a college QB because he doesn't want to work with an established talent and turn him around would be a mistake. that's how teams stay bad, you draft a college QB after dumping Wentz, the college QB turns out to be meh (most probable outcome), so it's Hurts or bust, while you've passed over either a top talent or a trade down.

I wouldn’t call that coach an idiot. We can’t ignore the whole picture with Wentz.

That said, I hope we can make it work with him.

This is exactly what i was alluding to all day yesterday. It’s great to get a great coordinator however if he leaves after a year or two you have to replace him and the eagles have shown recently that’s a massive challenge.
