Yeah I understand that. I get what you’re saying, I know the history. It doesn’t change the fact that it’s kind of funny that there are people clamoring for Wentz when he was latest a backup QB, and that they are technically doing that same thing.

Well when you have a QB making the money Wentz does and has had success in this league. Facts are We know Doug had issues with game planning, scripting, play calling/design and flat out putting players not in the best situations to make them succeed. Wentz and Hurts both struggled this year so it was not just the QB. Many positions were horrible.

I think we will see Wentz as the starter week 1 to prove himself under the new coach. If he struggles again for 4 to 5 games you will see a change and the fans will understand knowing he was given his shot with a new coach. Question is will the Wentz haters jump back on like nothing happened if Wentz plays like a NFL starting QB again with a new head coach?

I think there is a big difference between Wentz haters and Wentz supporters. The supporters understand if he struggles that he should go. If he strives the haters will either deny they were against him to begin with or just say he will fail again soon and never buy in and as soon as he has one bad game will be calling for the backup yet again.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Frankly i believe darnold when he came out was a better prospect than fields or Wilson. His development has been killed by Gase and bowles being his HCs and a horrific roster for the better part of the three years there. Plus they got rid of his best weapon in Anderson and were accepting they were going to suck this year anyway and he got hurt behind that oline.

So let’s say Frazier goes to Texans and Daboll to Chargers. Does Lurie take the PR heat of hiring Kafka over Bieniemy?

Does the Texans take heat from Watson not hiring Eric who is his choice. Yes he gets his minority HC but not his guy.

If Wentz makes the proper changes, as a person (taking to coaching, fixing any internal woes, etc.) and as a QB, I’ll be the first to praise him. That’d be the best outcome.

I’ve stated multiple times that everyone is at fault, not just Wentz, but Wentz has been a big part of it (Howie is the biggest problem if you ask me).

But I’m not sure this is a situation where fans just want to see the backup QB because they love backups. Wentz should legit be on thin ice.

Is Hurts the guy? He doesn’t inspire much confidence in me outside of the way he carries himself and his mental traits. But he should be given a chance moving forward if Wentz can’t make the proper changes.

I think it’s unfair to compare the current situation with the past of fans living backup QBs, when people are clamoring for a guy that played about as well as a backup QB in his 5th year in the NFL.

Come on, man, let's stop this. What exactly do you think Carson needs to be successful? An All-Pro team around him and Bill Belichick?

Nice deflection.  I asked a specific question.   What makes you believe they tried things Carson's way?  I want evidence.

Deshaun Watson was criticized in here by some for being too demanding. I don't think a lot of people realize what he is dealing with there.

Based off lurie’s presser i don’t think he really cares what heat he’s gonna get.

Yes. They didn’t even want to interview him and only requested it after the reports about Watson being mad came out. I doubt the Texans go from not even interested in interviewing to hiring.

It's sad but not at all surprising that people will play favorites based on who is in their particular cult, instead of judging on merit.  We've seen plenty of that w/the Eagles also...

Lurie hired Andy Reid (GB QB coach) over Sherman Lewis (GB OC) in 1999.  Basically the same thing.

Granted it is 21 years later and times have changed.

I do find it very interesting and concerning that Eric was considered the top candidate for the off season going into the 2020 and most said it was crazy he was passed up in 2020. He has yet to be named as even a real candidate this year. Im wondering what is really going on behind the scenes with him.

Bieniemy comes with his own PR questions.

Honestly if he hired Kafka over Eric it’s because he likely thinks higher of Kafka due to his QB background and the overstated being mahomes QB coach the last three years.

He can be in an awful situation but also be terribly unqualified to pick a head coach. They aren’t mutually exclusive.

And I would say there's a difference between trying to pick a head coach and being frustrated.

Point being, he doesn't want to just sit back and let unqualified people make these decisions for their job security alone. He wants to win.

Reid did not have a QB background. He coached QBs not played. A lot of good coaches with successful QBs didnt have a QB back ground. That background could actually be a downfall esp from ex QBs that were not even good in the NFL.

Lurie is going to take heat if he hires Kafka, period.

Yea but has bieniemy ever coached exclusively QBs? Considering the situation the eagles have in place it probably matters to Lurie to have someone who’s likely either played the position or coached it exclusively. Bieniemy has been a OC that doesn’t call plays and worked with running backs. Add on Hes connected with the chiefs run game and RBs before becoming OC while Kafka has been their passing game coordinator and qb coach and has played QB

you can keep making up reasons but really think about the things they liked about doug was former QB so he could help develop wentz. Meanwhile you need to salvage or develop hurts. So we saw this narrative 5 years ago and now ignoring it. If he choose Kafka over bieniemy I’m guaranteeing it’s the reason.

The question is more if he cares. He didn’t care about the howie backlash from the presser. I’m guessing he won’t he owns the team he’ll get over it. What are they gonna do force him to sell the team? Lol

I said it back when they hired him and still think it today. Doug was our 5th/6th choice and they just wanted a "yes" man after all the other candidates were gone. To me, Doug had 1 successful year here and what a great year it was. However that year he either made the choice himself or was forced to give up a large role of the offense to Frank. So I think they liked him cause he was going with the flow.

My guess is Duce will be named HC and he will be "the guy we wanted” all along. If your gonna force players on HC’s coming in they will more then likely not take the job. I can see why coaches wouldn’t want this job. I can’t blame them

He was not. their top 2 choices were Gase who then was considered a QB whisper. And mcadoo who also was thought highly of at the time due to his work with Eli as OC and a former QB coach. So even if Doug was not their top choices still shows that. You keep trying to ignoring the obvious. If they chose Kafka over bieniemy it’s likely a strong reason why.

That's not even a question. Of course he doesn't care. It's his team and he thinks he's always the smartest guy in the room.

So what difference does taking heat make if he hires Kafka? Literally none.
