Reich also credited him with hines and Taylor’s development and usage in the pass game. I’d also add Keenan Allen had his best season as a pro when he was the WR coach. Allen was not the Keenan Allen we know today before that massive season where he was a top 5 wr that year. Also did good work with tyrelle Williams so he could ge true contract he did with Oakland/Vegas. Pittman and pascal like you said by the end of the season we’re playing well and showed big development from beginning to end of the season.

There are legitimate concerns with Sirianni. He's been coaching for a relatively limited time. He's only worked for offensive HCs, so it's hard to figure out how much credit he deserves for his team's success. He could easily flame out.

Most likely won't like the hire.

where the Eagles currently sit with their roster and what they’re going to have to do is a rebuild. So you better have somebody that’s good at player development of young players. Because we don’t have the money this year to just spend in free agency. And we are likely getting rid of some high priced players with minimal or young replacements.

I'd also add Sirianni worked most of his professional career with Phillip Rivers who is, I don't know the best way to put it, a misunderstood? player. And by all accounts the two were generally successful together and had no hesitation to rejoin in 2020 on the Colts. He also had a year with Andrew Luck. I think he brings some clout and might possibly know how to get the most out of another possibly misunderstood QB on this team.

Just saying Campbell’s presser is going to be hard to beat that was straight up awesome

Bingo, it seems like journalists and reporters today are not even taught to get the whole story and to get it right. Speed and sensationalism are the name of the game. How many clicks, reshares, or likes can you get? What kind of hot take is needed to get this article on page one of google? How can your story stand out? And can you get the scoop first (regardless of whether it is factual or not)? This is what media members today are taught, and for those journalists who learn the old way of doing things, they struggle to make a name for themselves due to all of the clickbait artists. The quality of writing in journalism and level of fact-checking in reporting is not what it used to be.

The worst part is that this fly by the seat of your pants behavior is rewarded. As you mentioned, celebrity types are increasingly outspoken, and they feed the media machine (especially when they feel like they were wronged). Furthermore, the consequences for getting a story completely wrong no longer exist. Americans attention spans are too short to keep up with your mistakes and inadequacy as a reporter, we just want the next thing. And finally, we (Americans) reward people with strong opinions because they are controversial; they are a circus sideshow, and we crave the drama. Everyone feels their opinion matters; me venting my frustration on a forum proves that point. But no ones opinion matters for long any more. Unfortunately, any quality editorial or journalistic work swiftly vanishes into the ether that is media.

Idk i feel like that fan base can relate to that type of presser he gave. It’s what they’ve all felt for 50-60 years of being a lions fan. Normally I’d agree with you but I’m this case i feel like that fan base needed something like that. He winds up failing cause it’s the lions and they are going to be the lions.

Yup, he has 2 brothers that were/are HC's along with his father, although it was at lower college programs. I forget where, it was on ITB pod yesterday. It's definitely a coaches family.

Possible but at that point you are really behind at building your staff. Not sure they want to wait that long. Colts did it with reich and it worked out but i do think it’s a disadvantage

The talk is great, but when the rubber hits the road there has to be accountability.  He’ll succeed or fail based on the example he sets, every day.

He has a really uphill climb.  The ownership in DET is bad; when they came out and gave Quinn and Patricia the ultimatum of "playing meaningful games in December” or getting fired they were both as good as gone at that moment.  That Lions team is nowhere close to a contender, regardless of who the coach was (not that Patricia was the right hire)

It’s good he negotiated a 6-year deal.  Now ownership needs to commit to his vision.  I have my doubts they will

As always, thanks for the recommendations.  I have been enmeshed in genealogy research of late so a lot of my history reading and research have been century old documents like diary notes, wills, land conveyances, court documents census documents, old local histories and Scandinavian church records and censuses.  If my translation of the word for wife from Norwegian is correct, it is "gift”.  That  translation has had me immersed in reading US legal histories, court opinions and treatises on the development of women from chattel property, subsumed from father to husband, to their status today (still not fully equal, even under the Constitution).  Very little in property rights other than life tenancy until 1848.

Toll’s work sounds fascinating. The development of the Warlords from the time of the invasion of Manchuria, which in some ways was a reaction to events from the Sino-Russian war is pretty interesting.  Less known than the rise of Hitler and the National Socialists and the rise of the Fascists in Italy and Spain.  I added it to my list.

This is why they seemed to have almost zero clue how unattractive their job would be. The cap situation is one thing that is an obvious problem with the job. But aside from that, Howie and Lurie are completely blind to the biggest coach deterrent... Howie. He has too much say, and Carson is his guy. No coach wants to be micromanaged by a little weasel who thinks he understands football. If I am hired as a head coach, I want the freedom to run the team the way I see fit, let the GM stick to GM things.
