The surprising part of this (at least surprising to me) is that he hasn't added any assistant with head coaching experience...

But, getting the hottest new name in the DC game is a nice 'get'.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I heard the Lowie recorded phone conversation with Siriani.  Man that was cringe worthy.  Lurie wants so bad to be so involved now he has their conversation recorded like it was draft night  What a clown show.  I hope Siriani and his coaches succeed in spite of the terrible FO.

This might be your worst take.

Every franchise does this type of call.

My wife and I found out we are having a baby girl in August.  Her friend threw us one of those "gender reveal" parties.  I can't believe how much work goes into these things.  It was over the top ridiculous.  But when I lit that rocket, shot it out of my arse (jk), and pink smoke came out, the wife and I were freaking out with happiness.  She headbutted me by accident and busted my bottom lip up quite a bit.  😂

But we've seen Mailata and he has shown an ability to at worst be a serviceable starter. At most, sky is the limit. Any pick at 6, regardless of what they may be, has an unknown floor. Mailata's floor is known at this point, IMO.

There’s not too many top 10 LTs that bust. Luke Joekel is the only one I can think of in the past 10 years.

Mailata was solid last year. I won’t take that and his incredible upside away from him. If I was Howie I’d be looking to sign him to a 3 year contract this offseason.

Congratulations!

Mailata started from zero. He's become a beast with shaky technique but he's still a beast. In the run game he's about as good as it gets and he's mean and aggressive. Compare him, say, with Andrew Thomas, whom I was very high on, and he's way better. I still think Thomas will end up a good player if he has a work ethic because he has the tools but Mailata has better tools and he clearly has the work ethic. I see ten more years in the league for him with a few Pro Bowls.

I would like to see him over at RT so Dillard can slide in at LT. Dillard is a pure pass pro guy with limited run-blocking potential whereas Mailata has the whole package if if if he continues to progress.

What do you want to do with Lane Johnson?

I'm sure by the time week one comes around and Pitts is listed as a tight end on whatever team that drafts him you would have jumped off the bandwagon and disappeared from the boards :-)

A team that wants to call him a TE certainly can, and that still doesn't put any limitation on him; look at what Kelce and Kittle have done for their respective teams.

That said, any great offensive coordinator that has the flexibility and need to play him at TE/slot/out wide will do all of the above to maximize his utility. Hopefully it's us

Claypool was looked at negatively for the same exact reason. Wonder if any Eagles fan think he's "just a tight end" after our game still.

Mailata was fine last year, and he's only 23, an age of a lot of rookie and 2nd year OL.

He still needs a lot of work on technique, but hopefully he'll have a full offseason with Stoutland and a full exhibition season to work on his game. However, he might be the strongest OL in the NFL, it's like watching a bigger version of Peters in his prime, when he gets his arms extended on a run block, he can literally block half the DL (on a couple plays he just pushed the DE into the DL and took them both out of the play). As a pass blocker, his footwork needs work, but he's so long it's like vintage Tra on steroids, and he recovers well.

That being said, the next couple drafts will be BPA or trade down, there's no reason for this team to worry about positions right now. That's a luxury for 12-4 teams picking in the 20s looking to fill a hole or two for a SB run. If Sewell is the BPA, draft him and worry about who plays where in TC.

Congrats bud.

The wife's best friend threw the party for us at our own house.  She hired a freaking photographer.  She had us stand out in our front lawn in front of practically my entire wife's family and some of our friends, then we opened those twist off rockets that shot up pink smoke in the air.  Insane champagne station, beer and liquor, and tons of food.  Then we took about 40,000 more photos.  Once everyone left, one of my friends bought us cigars and we got absolutely hammered, which caused me to stupidly paid $90 to watch Connor McGregor get his ass whooped.

Frankly, I think he's breaking down. We're stuck with him, however, what with that contract. I don't have an answer for you.

I think he could **** slap anyone on our DL other than Cox.

Defensive players should be more afraid of their coaches than other teams' players.

Comes down to whether the ankle is degenerative, which I fear it is, but he played well when he played. If the ankle can be fixed, he's still the best RT in the NFL.

We're stuck with him through 2022 unless he retires. Can dump him after that season for a net cap hit of $2.5M.

I was impressed by Dillard in his few starts as a rookie at run blocking.   He was pretty good at it.   While I would love to see Johnson back to form, we can certainly do well with Mailata at RT.  I really suspect Brooks will be back and in great shape.   That would extend a very athletic right side of the line if Mailata plays there.  We do need to extend him.  Next year is number four.

That’s awesome. Have yet to be to a gender reveal party despite the trillion weddings over the past ten years. Sounds like an awesome reason to drink. Well you’re having a girl... plenty of reasons to drink now

They are stuck with him for 2021.  They are not stuck for 2022.  It would be an expensive move, but what isn't an expensive move thanks to Howie?

Ironically, if they'd let his contract play out... his contract would have run out after the 2021 season, and they could move on now.  Same with Brooks... who worries me about his durability as well.  (afan points to his not missing any full games between the Achilles injury in the playoffs in 2018 and the start of the 2019 games.   The timing of that injury was very fortuitous.  Same as the opposite end of the spectrum with his Achilles this year.  Missed every game.)

Congrats, not on getting hammered and what not but on the little girl part.

He had a high ankle sprain that the initial surgery did not fix.  Question is did the last surgery fix it.  He tried to play through it but the ankle needs rest so that the ligament can calcify around the hardware and reattach.  That’s months.   He seemed kind of despondent when he was sat for the season but it was the right thing to do.   There is a good chance he comes back healthy next year.  Wonder if steroids are part of the treatment and how the NFL handles that in PED testing.  They have done ridiculous suspensions like the guy taking treatment to get his wife knocked up.

Congratulations!!

Lane Johnson is tradable in 2022, but untradable this off-season. The good news is that he'll be motivated for 2021, given his 2020. He also gets Stoutland back, so that should be easier for him to hit the ground running.

As of right now, I'm leaning towards extending Mailata and trading Dillard. With Stoutland back, I would be surprised if he preferred Dillard to Mailata.
