I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

But what if we draft a TE with our #6 overall pick and make him a WR?  CHAMPIONSHIP!

How many?  Including me!

LOL You are not on ignore.

I put the first 5 on ignore the first day.

**OFF TOPIC

My wife and I found out we are having a baby girl in August.  Her friend threw us one of those "gender reveal" parties.  I can't believe how much work goes into these things.  It was over the top ridiculous.  But when I lit that rocket, shot it out of my arse (jk), and pink smoke came out, the wife and I were freaking out with happiness.  She headbutted me by accident and busted my bottom lip up quite a bit.  😂

Congrats man! Got a boy coming in August. No reveal party, just made the whole family take bets and did a "reveal" via Zoom.  Still pretty fun to watch everyone react.

What happens if Sirianni doesn’t trade Hurts which he won’t?

Look back to the news reports after the Eagles drafted Reagor.  Moorehead acknowledged that he had actively recruited Reagor when he was the WR coach at A&M. Reagor was a more prized recruit out of HS than Jefferson. So Moorehead was more familiar with Reagor than Jefferson.  Thus lobbying for him isn’t crazy.  But that also points to what I think is a huge failure with Howie.  He needs to trust his scouts more than the coaches on draft choices.  It was widely reported he deferred to Schwartz and Pederson.

Actually he shouldn't defer to the scouts. The job of the scouts is to provide descriptive information about each prospects' strengths and weaknesses.

The job of the coaches is to take that information and determine which player has higher value to the Eagles. That is, other than a few uber-talents, most players are better fits for some schemes than others. So it's never as simple as take the BPA, it's the BPA for your team (as opposed to picking to fill a hole).

The problem was having the wrong coaches/senior personnel guys, not a matter of "listening to the scouts."

What I like about Sirianni and Gannon, as guys who've done a lot of hands on coaching, they're more likely to put the scouting reports in context, knowing the attributes of the guys they were able to coach up and those of the guys who failed.

How many?  I felt like 9 was something to be proud of.  I got dudes laughing at that.

Ill go check, 9 is a pretty good number, but i'm pretty quick to just put the idiots on ignore. I have a few to add , one from today 🙂

I got 5.  Some others I have considered, but they don't post enough so I can skip over them.

Lazy work by Moorehead though in that case, if he's not assessing where Reagor and Jefferson had each progressed during the subsequent years.  You can't judge a player on what they were when they were 18, when they are now 21 or 22.

I don’t disagree. I just pointed out what was obvious to me and should have been to Howie.  That’s not necessarily a poor reflection on Moorehead but it is a horrible fault on Howie’s part.  His scouts are paid to scout, his coaches to teach.  Now the jury is out on Moorehead as a teacher.  (It’s not on Press Taylor, though.)

Now there were some things I liked about Moorehead.  As I was scouting Brady as a possible OC, I ran across and posted an article on his WR coaching techniques and his open the door and catch drill.  (Jefferson credited that with improving him as a WR).  Well, one of the drills I saw Moorehead running from practice clips was similar. The WR would run from behind a trash can and boom the ball is there (prophetic or not, on that clip, Reagor dropped the ball). Lack of progress for JJAW is a concern but that may also go to play calling being all wrong for him.  He is not Jeffery.

You may recall our constant WR discusssions before the draft with folks wanting Reagor, Mims, Claypool and (shudder) K J Hamler.  All were viewed as low floor/high ceiling guys.  You and I saw Jefferson as a high floor/high ceiling guy whereas many in here saw him as a high floor/low ceiling guy.   Well, we have to see if some of those Gus projected as having a low floor (2020) can reach their high ceiling.  Now Howie took the Afan approach on day three last year and grabbed numbers. Some will make it and some won’t. There may even be a diamond.

Howie and Doug also listened to the blog last year.  That got us Taylor, Hightower, Wallace, Watkins and Toohill. Low floor/higher ceiling players. Well, potential high ceiling.  I would even throw Hurts in there.  An athletic QB that ran offenses at two CFB powerhouses. Low floor that he was primarily a single look and run guy but did show some ability with progressions and decent accuracy. So maybe a higher ceiling. Not for starter but maybe as a good backup and an incentive for Carson to play better and stop resting on his "I have arrived as a franchise $130 million QB” laurels.  We will see what kind of a man Carson is next year.

So now that Howie has seen the fault of listening to the Blog on the whole need for speed and low floor but higher ceiling nonsense and hopefully got my message finally about listening to scouts over coaches, how do I get you onboard with my fix the f’in secondary push, as surely he will read our posts on players to draft with more  interest this year?

@4for4EaglesNest   I am also at 9 right now.... but growing 😜

You're weird. Who the F is "afraid" of Hurts?

The current Philly media gives me an even deeper appreciation for Steve Carlton.  Imagine the hate campaign these present day crybabies would have for his silent treatment.

Unfortunately I don’t think any present day athletes are allowed to prohibit interviews — they really should.

I met him back when I was a kid.  I lived in Florida at the time and worked at a flea market on the weekend selling kitchen equipment.  Seriously!  Anyway, he and his wife must have lived close by, I think I was like 15 or 16.  They came to the "store" and bought some ish.  I helped them carry stuff to their car.  I even asked him, "hey aren't you Steve Carlton" or something like that.  I was in awe.  Dude denied it completely.  He opens up his trunk of his car, palms a basketball in the trunk to move it out of the way so I can put the stuff away.  I think he tipped me a few bucks.  Anyway, I went back to the store.  Asked the owner what the check said and sure it enough it said Beverly Carlton or Linda or something like that.  Dude was a strange one.

He didn’t tell you "Policy is Policy”?  I still remember Carlton spiking the ball to the mound when The Pope came out of the dugout to pull him — enigmatic for sure

I only ever lost two bets that I put money on.  I bet Carlton would finish with more career strikeouts than Nolan Ryan (that was in my drinking days), and I bet money on Hagler over Leonard — lost money even though Hagler actually did win.

I've got 2 pages of ignored folks.  Saves time.

There are 'glass half full' people and 'glass half empty' people. I view Jalen Hurts as a positive. The team will now have a good QB regardless of whatever drama unfolds with Wentz(I just saw a headline he's still unhappy -he's unhappy? Really?.). The Howie-haters will cabbage patch on this, but for no logical reasons.

https://sportsnaut.com/philadelphia-eagles-rumors-carson-wentz-latest/

Jalen Hurts only adds to our team's potential. If the Eagles lost money, they lost money. You have to take Jalen Hurts out of the handwringing process. If you show you're a stud and ball out, this team will only benefit by helping you. If you underperform, the team can only do so much for you.

The team should draft a QB for insurance. And don't kid yourself, insurance is a GOOD thing ALWAYS. We play to win ALWAYS and not simply to avoid losing. And we certainly don't manage the team to avoid losing the support of our star player(s) who get paid and underperform. The support is either there or it's not. Part of the reason we pay them so much is FOR that undying support that we can only hope will rub off on the lesser-paid players,

That is a lot.  What is the least amount of posts you have seen on a page of a thread with that many on ignore ??

Kinda surprised Duce took a job with Anthony Lynn as the OC.

Why?  The last RB coach to elevate to OC and HC.  Seems perfect for growth for Duce.

I did wake up one morning to about a half page of just nothing but a back and forth between folks all on ignore.   Was fun to see that.
