The teams that have Pitts #2 on their big boards are the teams that believe Pitts can actually be a WR and would be a poor mans Calvin Johnson. Other teams dont think he has the speed to play WR.

I dont think he has WR speed.  He might be a great TE, but maybe so is the guy from PSU who will go much later. If the TE isnt running 4.3s hes not a top 10 guy to me.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

He’s an absolute stud. Don’t allow morons who overthink it to sway you. The same happened with Jefferson last draft.

I don’t even know what that tweet meant. Cbs that try to bully Chase, get bullied by Chase. You’re not gonna win the physical battle with him at the LOS or down the field. He consistently beats cbs up who try that.

Well Crocky from Twitter said it so it must be true

Are we still obsessing over 40 times? That's so twentieth century.

Why teams even care is beyond me, with modern technology they should be able to estimate speed off film and know how fast the guy runs different patterns, in pads, against the press and clean releases, etc. Running in shorts out of a track stance is meaningless.

The question is Pitt's body control and route running and hands, not his 40 time.

Can he gain separation, high point, snatch? And as a H-back, can he hit targets in the open field as a blocker.?

Calling it now.  Pitts and Devonta Smith 40 times are going to be much closer than people thought.

Yes, someone made a typo a few weeks back but the word makes sense since they are both the same person.

Dude that was so 2 weeks ago.  E45 coined the term.  I stamped it.  It’s now part of our lexicon.  Football over politics my brother.

I kind of figured, must have missed it becoming official.  Just struck me that more and more I was seeing that "typo"

People ARE overthinking it.  Chase put up comparable stats to what Devonta Smith put up this season, only more dynamic.  I trust a 200 lb WR more than a 175 lb WR to stay healthy.

I think both Schwartz and Doug got a free pass for a couple years coming off the SB win.

And Howie isn't getting a free pass from you?

If you are going to call out everyone that's gone, how about a critical word about Howie?   Did he do anything poorly?  I mean, look at the roster.... look at the cap... look at the draft picks... and then tell everyone what of that is the responsibility of the GM and what is the responsibility of the HC/DC.   I curious your thoughts on this.  What exactly is Howie's job?  Seems to me his job is to just point the finger at everyone else when it doesn't work, but take a bow when it does work.

Posting Kiper's mock as he does have connections.

Has us picking Waddle at #6. In this scenario, I don't see how we don't trade down.

Every trade back requires a partner to want to trade up and a decent bit of compensation to do it.

I liked Baron Browning last year.   I like him more now.

He was below average for Ohio and didn't really showcase his elite athleticism

at 19 years old vs 21/22 years old, also.

What do most think it's going to be?

Scott Pioli made an excellent point this morning about the draft process; without the combine, pro days, etc., draft people are going to have to value the tape.  I've always been more interested in watching the tape, more than the Combine.  When I see Dalvin Cook constantly outrunning angles in games it tells me he's a dynamic player -- no matter what his 40 time says.

I agree that 40 times are overrated and the tape speaks.  From a testing standpoint though, I think a lot of people think Smith is this DJack burner at WR.  I think he is going to be in the high 4.4s while Pitts should be a low 4.5.

I've never seen that insinuated anywhere. Complete opposite, actually. I've seen people that think he's slower than he really is.

Kiper has the Eagles taking Waddle at 6 if Smith and Chase and Sewell are gone? If those 3 are gone and a trade down isn’t available, I would think the pick is grab Parsons.

I've taken some deep twitter dives during the season and there are plenty of fans who think he's a burner.

@eagle45  Merged Lurie and Howie into a single entity... Lowie.

If Pitts cannot play the X like Evans, he should be a lower first round choice.  I think Evans was a better prospect.

He must have purged that morning.

I always put a big red flag on a guy that's scared of being measured.  Is he going to magically grow 2 inches?  No.   Is he going to add weight, of course... but can he actually play at that new heavier weight.

Hard pass on him at #6.  I was a pass before, but this coward move cinched it for me.

It was never a typo, it was an intentional coining by e45.

Well he’s plenty fast. He can definitely blow by you. I don’t think he’s Ruggs/Djax fast but he looks to be just a tad under that roadrunner type speed.

but he’s very fast.

Every trade back requires a partner to want to trade up and a decent bit of compensation to do it.

The Eagles run a consensus model of management, everyone gets input, Howie is more the tie breaker than decision maker.

It requires the right personnel, but there are more checks and balances than the strong GM (look at how many franchises were deep sixed in two years or so by strong GMs). I think Howie is only as good as the people under him, because he knows he's not a "football guy." He's a manager.

Can anyone tell me Doug and Schwartz's personnel preferences, other than 4-3 one gap linemen?  What does Doug like in WRs, Schwartz in DBs?

I think this why 2016 was stronger than the next few drafts, the room was dominated by the personnel guys. When the coaches had more power, especially after the SB (this is what I think we need to return . . .) drafts and other decisions suffered. The SB win made Doug and Schwartz look smarter than they were (even now we read how could they fire a SB winning coach?), but they lacked a cohesive vision, and that probably muddled decision making.

Now the coaches should have input, as much as scouts, but it shouldn't be "I have a crush on  . . ." Rather, the coaches should have a strong idea of which players fit their schemes and why, communicate that to the personnel people, so when they're evaluating players they're looking for those characteristics. Which is why you need detailed oriented coaches with a strong vision for the kind of team they want to build, and the players who fit that team. That sets the template, and the personnel guys can evaluate for that template, rather than end up in "I want him, no him, no he's the player we should want." If everyone is on the same page, the board should fall into place.
