It’s obviously just fodder for discussion, like everything else we discuss around here. What happens if Pitts is the BPA at 6 and we can still bring back Ertz.

Why would you want to bring Ertz back?  Poor production, no effort.  A 50% catch rate for a TE?  What, 9 yards per catch?

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Or you could find a team like Denver, Carolina or SF if they dont get Stafford and get a lot more. I wouldnt go past the top 12 range and we still could stay in our plan.

Say Carolina might up that pick to a 3rd knowing the Lions would give you a 4th. make them bid against each other. However what makes them not just go to the Bengals one pick ahead?

If Cincinnati wants Sewell then I don't think they will risk trading down. I think he could be there too. If they don't then it's possible they could trade down. We really don't know what direction they will be going in.

That's a yard better than Greg Ward's career average.

That’s just poor writing, to be honest, but not surprising to teach first years that.

It’s old fashioned journalism because most people don’t read the whole article.  It is the foundation that USA Today was founded on.  Don’t get me wrong, I think there are a couple of good reporters that cover the Eagles but there are also so pretty bad ones and many aren’t really reporters, they are commentators.

Especially in an offense that will presumably feature yac

The inverted pyramid still is important, particularly with the AP. It was used in part so you can just cut off stories from the bottom when out of space on the page. But it isn’t good writing to fill all that info into the lede. That’s what the nut graf is for.

Agreed he sucked but unlike Carson, Ertz’s season felt more like a true aberration.

I’d argue that if folks are unwilling to bring Ertz solely based on his play last year, then the door should be slammed completely shut on Carson returning.

"...shell of Carson Wentz."

He just had to throw that in there

That’s the odd narrative that is constantly getting thrown around.  The difference between below average QB play and above average play, given the physical tools that Wentz possesses, is a fairly thin line.  Better OL play will help, better coaching at the WR position will help, more commitment to a balanced offense and a better offensive scheme will help.

Where Wentz needs to be fixed is his tendency to hold the ball too long.  He needs to be on script, on schedule — and when he’s not, he needs hard coaching.  People assume Doug and Press went easy on Wentz because they were too nice or soft; my assumption is they didn’t know how to correct his tendencies or get more out of him.  Doug seldom saw the field in his playing career — to pass him off as a ‘QB whisperer’ isn’t factual.

Again you are forgetting the money factor. Not just play. you cant keep him long term money wise. Its not the smart move. You get what you can and move on. We made enough of those mistakes in the past few years. Lets get this one right and not let our emotions of the SB get in the way.

If I thought Wentz wasn’t trying this season I might agree, but he was flailing because he was trying too hard to make something happen with very little to work with.

Ertz didn’t give an ish, right from Week 1 and all season.  He put his ego and wallet in front of the team.  He needs to be gone.

We have probably 8-10 more pressing needs than a second TE.

It would be one thing if he was a consensus top 6 pick but there’s plenty of mock drafts that don’t even have him in the top 8.

If we was drafted in round one, which I don't think he will be, but if he is, I don't think he will be used as a  #2 TE. But instead utilized as a unique pass catching weapon, which this team has a serious lack of. If he is underutilized as a back up TE that would be completely horrible. I have faith, blind yes, but I would have faith Sirianni would have a strong plan and use the guy in the UPCW mold. If Doug was still here I would seriously hate it.

DJ is one of the best, guy has him as the 3rd best player in the entire draft. That says a lot.

3) Kyle Pitts, TE

School: Florida | Year: Junior

Pitts is a long, lean tight end prospect with excellent speed, ball skills and production. He has lined up inline, flexed in the slot and split out wide. He runs routes like a wideout. The former Gator has burst off the line, sets up defenders and explodes out of the break point. He beat upper-echelon SEC cornerbacks on a weekly basis. He builds speed to separate down the seam and tracks the ball naturally down the field. Pitts has an enormous catch radius. He uses his speed to pile up yards after the catch. He showed tremendous improvement as a blocker in 2020. He fits up, doing his best to wrestle and stay attached. He will fall off at times, but the effort is there. Overall, Pitts is a unique talent with the ability to take over a game. He is the definition of a mismatch player.

Looking like TK is a healthy scratch today and Morin will be playing in place of him.  What an odd time to scratch one of your best offensive guys when Couturier and Frost are already out and we are playing the Islanders.

@HazletonEagle Thoughts?

He's not playing well, nor is he playing with jam. You can play poorly and stay in the lineup if you're giving max regular season effort.

Good to know.  We had their style book when I was in college back in the dark ages.

I wonder what’s going on with WR coach. If they were retaining Moorehead you would think they would say so by now.

I mean we were told Marquand Manuel was a sought after coach, is this guy actually better? Not sure... Hope so though

I’m not so sure on Manuel. He was out of coaching for a year.

Not even athletes in my mind.  No idea who they are.

Lol

They are figure skaters.

Richie Grant is a really intriguing safety. He killed it this week. Might be in play with our second round pick.

Spend the #6 pick on Pitts or bring Ertz back. I think you have to bring Ertz back in that scenario, right?

Unless you think Pitts can play WR that is

Neither

I'll take Michael Carter.    3rd round target.
