If I were Wentz that is how I would take it and it clearly is how he took it.

Otherwise it's just an absolutely awful waste of a 2nd round pick by Roseman for someone that they only intend ever to be a backup for the team.

I’m betting it was never that. That was likely the secondary/tertiary reason they brought up cause they knew gullible fans would buy it due to the cap situation we were headed towards and wentz having injuries. I don’t have proof but logically makes more sense with how the eagles think they wanted to be ahead of the curve and have a safety net/backup plan in case Carson was more 2018 and early season 2019 wentz then consistently end of 2019 wentz. Eagles likely figured they were stuck with wentz for at least two more years with the contract and it would likely take a QB like Hurts who they loved coming out two years to be groomed to be ready at the nfl level to be a consistent starter. So if after two years Carson wasn’t what they thought they’d move on to Hurts their insurance plan. The only thing the eagles didn’t account for was wentz playing as badly as he did last year to create the situation after 2020 and this offseason

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Anyone who takes what Banner says seriously is an idiot

Jenkins also went on social media to call out Brees last year. I don't think he'd be an anonymous source

And I respect him for that

The eagles also tried to keep him before releasing him. They just didn’t want to guarantee his second year like the Saints did. So they were trying to keep jenkins but on their terms. Can say maybe that’s why they didn’t want to give jenkins the contract he wanted but i think it was more they didn’t think he was going to be the same player in 2 years. The contract from the Saints is bad. His dead money hit to release before June 1st is 12.9 mil and if released an additional 4 against the cap. Then 2022 it’s 4.5 dead money and a 5.5 cap savings. That’s the type of contract people got pissed at howie about.

So just for craps and grins, what would be the minimal compensation you'd be satisfied with in exchange for Wentz? Curious to see the spread here.

1st and 3rd in 2021, conditional pick in 2022.

Do you think Wentz wants to be here? If so then why has he not made any statements to clear this up? Not one tweet saying he's excited to get to work with the new coaching staff?

He doesn't want to be here anymore.  He has a carefully crafted public persona so he isn't going to come out and demand a trade in the public but I think it's obvious at this point that the Eagles know he doesn't want to be here and they are trying to keep this all in house to try to salvage some value for him and if they end up being stuck with him this year making it doable without the backlash or Wentz having to deal with questions all season about a public request for a trade that never came to be.

Why does he have to tell the media or the fans anything.  The only people who need to know are Jeff Lurie, Howie Roseman, Nick Sirianni and Carson's agent.  We are not owed anything in regards to information.

I hope whoever the next QB is for the Eagles after Wentz doesn't have a G.D. Twitter account. This ish is ridiculous.

You proceeded to make an entire post about how Carson refuses to follow coaching.  Then you end with "he can be successful again.... if he will listen to coaching".

The mental gymnastics required to defend this guy lol.

i know it's crazy, in my 24 years of being of an eagles fan, i have never seen so much emotional attachment and excuses to a player that plays worse than bobby hoying.

For Eagles cap purposes, that is the only option to lower the Eagles cap number.   What is an acceptable dead cap hit to the Eagles, 20 million ??  If so, you think he has 13.8 million dollars laying around to just write a check ??  And in that scenario, he has to pay that money before the start of the 2021 league year.

I'm not saying it can be done because I'm not sure if the CBA allows it.  But the money is not an issue at all.  They'd get get a loan to pay it which would immediately be repaid by the acquiring team.  Non-issue.

He is...

Bigger Arm

More Accurate has better more consistent completion numbers

His production is way better especially passing wise. Done it against the best competition.

Nice speed quick decisive runner

I love cause he doesn’t just run after one read, you can see him go through progressions before taking off

He’s 6’4 220 LBs.

Solid Prospect.

Call Howie and let him know.

Because Joe Banner lives in the real world, and not a Washer fantasy land where Carson Pyrite is a franchise QB?

He doesn't, but he could without any effort and kill all of this speculation.  The fact that he hasn't with rumors of him wanting to be traded going on since before the season was even over tells the story.

But hey, you can be in denial about it and cling to this false hope that he is actually happy here and wants to remain on the team and the Eagles have no interest in trading him. That's your right.

But everything is trending in the direction of a trade.

how many times are you gonna have this conversation?    You are not entitled to know, he doesn't owe you or the media any explanation. Sorry, thats a child wanting candy in line at the store stomping his feet and screaming at his parent.

if he wants out why hasn't he tweeted it, or told us, or told the Eagles, or told his agent?

See that works both ways.

Nah. Not a Howie type pick. Howie can’t show everyone how smart he is with a guy like Fields. Howie needs a Undersized fastball so he can say I told ya so.

Completely agree with this analysis. Unfortunately it will most likely fall on deaf ears. The team was Historically bad, Wentz did not trust his Oline, nor his WRs, and eventually didn't trust his coaching or play calling. (I mean 55 passes to 9 runs when your oline is in shambles and you have 0 wr's...smh...) I dont blame him, and I agree I think you can fix wentz, but you have to fix the coaching and the team along with him.

I don’t know about trusting the WRs or trusting the patterns coming out of the RPO read. I think Wentz would fare better with traditional drop back, like he did in college with a sprinkling of play action and roll outs. And for the football gods sake, getting the play earlier, breaking the huddle earlier with time for some motion to read the D. Doug and Press were awful at getting the play in.

As to the WRs, I really hope that Wentz and Hurts get together with them this offseason after the OTAs so they get to know each other better.  I see the possibility of potential with the ones we currently have.  I hope Butler, Jackson and Wilson join them.  I think we get a TE out of those three.  I really hope Jackson can catch.
