Bears are currently 10 million over the salary cap for 2021, and only have 32 players under contract. I don’t see how they are financially in a position to make the trade.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Lol this clown has you guys riled up. He's made guesses that the Bears would trade for Watson, and also Jimmy G and now Wentz.

I mean I'm not riled up

Well the Bears pick 20th.  Def need more than that.

That might not be a bad pick to get. We might get the top guard in the draft around that spot and we could use a guard with Brooks coming off a 2nd serious leg injury.

Look how many in here are taking it seriously...it's crazy time in here.

It'll be crazy time until March 21 comes. I believe it's the 21st. @downundermike would know

Why not? They are giving up on their franchise QB a year after giving him a monster deal and eating a ton of cap. Hurts is nothing but a backup from what he showed.

Did they give up on JJAW yet? Did they give up on Mack hollins for 9 weeks when he had no targets? Did the eagles give up on peters when it was clear he wasn’t the better player? Alshon still taking reps away in a lost season?  Like you aren’t dealing with an organization that tends to use logic.

Greenie, you're too old to get riled up anymore. I don't include you with most of these clowns.

He has some legitimacy given his followers.  Who knows if anything is true and really it doesn't matter.  I'm just here for entertainment.

They just gave up on Doug a few years after a SB and if they are trading Wentz a guy who would have been league MVP that year. Yeah, a 2nd is a nice pick, but he didn't show crap on the field, and they are/have given up on a lot more this offseason by making those moves. Now is the time for a reset. We'll see. Smart move would be to dump him.

JJAW isn’t going to TE, they’re gonna bulk him up to play guard, lol.

I think the Eagles do their homework on the QBs in the draft and if Fields or Wilson drops to 6 then they consider it.  If not then I think they give Hurts a chance this year and either shows something in his second year as starter or he falls flat and the Eagles will be in position to get a QB in the draft next year.

If/when they deal wentz I’m betting they go all in on hurts. Listening to the presser last year they view him in the same light they viewed Wilson when they let him fall. They even basically admitted to potentially reaching for him in their comments. They are going to give him a chance to see what he is. I think next year if he flops they make the switch.

No, QB.

The Wentz and Eagles are happy and there is not going to be a trade crowd right now ITT

Such as? Matthew Berry? Guy says he's a "football coach"...where? When I google, nothing comes up.

Again you are talking about a 3.5 game sample size, with a coach no longer here and a coach who just hired someone very close to hurts. I don’t like it as much as you do but I’m telling you they aren’t giving up on a kid that put this whole thing in motion after 3.5 games. Good or bad.

I think you are looking at his "following" (people he follows). His followers are a bunch of rando non verified people.

That would be the return. His contract is big and bloated. His season was one of the worst ever for a starting QB in his 5th year. And, he has an injury history. There is no way they would get more than that. I would be surprised if they could get more than a 2nd to be honest.  He's better than Goff, but his situation is similar to Goff in terms of a big contract and lack of recent performance. The Rams had to give Goff away.  I think Wentz will fetch more than Goff because of his MVP run a few years ago, but that was still a few years ago.  But, it is absolutely unrealistic to think the Eagles are going to get similar value to what they had to give to get Wentz originally.

Well looks like he's staying. The Eagles don't need to move him, if they have to give up picks to do it then a trade is not worth making. The rams did it because they believe they can win now with Stafford.

Even expecting a low return, a low first is unacceptable.

If the Cap is 185M, instead of 175M, that's their cap compliance right there.

As for Wentz's 25M cap hit to the acquiring team, the Bears could

- Cut Jimmy Graham: 7M
- Cut Buster Skrine: 2.7M
- Extend Kyle Fuller: 10M (They want to do this anyway)
- Extend Akiem Hicks: 5M
- Total: 25M

Keep in mind that Pace/Nagy are desperate to keep their jobs.

And here I thought there were critical thinkers in the Blog....naw, some rando high school football coach puts out a tweet and this place blows up with rampant speculation. Insanity.

I think they brought the QB coach in from Florida for that very reason.

If he wants out, then they will most likely move him vs. having him stay.

How about the real life version

Yeah and they aren’t giving up on hurts cause he wasn’t great after 4 games. Personally i think his ceiling is middle of the road starting QB but they clearly think otherwise to draft him and what they said after drafting him.

Funny this is likely a plan they had in place if wentz was out over the next 2-3 years they’d have their plan B in place and ready to go. I just don’t think they anticipated it would spiral down as fast as it did.

@e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! please, go ape-crap on Les Bowen for linking Wentz's lack response to something.

I've talked to an NFL source, not w/the Eagles, who hears a Wentz trade is close. That isn't first-hand information. I do feel that the longer we go without Wentz saying something like "I'm happy to be an Eagle and excited about playing for Nick Sirianni," the closer we get... -- Les Bowen today
