I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

That’s cute.   You’re going on the list.

Somehow I imagine that you, @greend and @Iggles_Phan write your lists down.

Eagles are trading Wentz and Hurts to make room for Aaron Rodgers when GB kicks him to the curb.  🤭

Lol he'd retire before he played for Howie

If they get a few picks including a first and another high pick do you start to try and put together a package for Watson that would include Ertz?

They got black books where they write the name down then strike a line through it.

Yeah. But, he also helped tear the team apart.  His legacy is more negative than positive in terms of his Eagles career.  If he would've been more of a team guy, then we probably would've been more of a serious threat than we were from 2005-2007.

I blame Joe Banner. They should have just given him more money.

Are the two mutually exclusive?  You can't say that the QB position is the most important position on the team and still state that acquiring a franchise QB is difficult but the Eagles have done a decent job at it?

Anyway, we'll need to agree to disagree on this one.  Now if the Eagles go another 4-5 years without securing a franchise QB, I will say you have a point...but I have a feeling they'll be fine there.

Do you understand when you tell me all season long that since 2017 Carson Wentz hasn’t been played like a franchise quarterback (besides a 4 game stretch) and then make the argument just now that for five years he’s been a franchise quarterback how that counters everything you have been telling me and discussing with me all season long? Like you can’t have it both ways when you wanna make an argument for the Eagles and when you wanna make an argument against Carson went. It doesn’t work like

and they haven’t done a decent job. I don’t consider them paying two guys over 100 million for franchise quarterback play and then not getting it after they paid them and 70% of a decade they didn’t have it. That to me is not decent

3 1/2 games??  Hurts was visible on a national stage for 3 years at Alabama and another season at Oklahoma.  Let’s not pretend no one had heard of him before he was drafted by the Eagles.

By far, Hurts’ best is what he showed in his senior year at OU, where he put up comparable numbers to Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray.  Mayfield and Murray both were drafted #1 overall; Hurts was drafted #53 — don’t you wonder why that is?  It’s one abundantly clear reason — Mayfield and Murray possess the requisite arm talent to make all the throws on an NFL field (although Murray is highly erratic).  Hurts simply does not.

What Hurts showed in his 4-game audition this season is he can make exciting plays with his legs (everyone already knew that) and can do very little once the opposition shuts down his running lanes — even DAL shut him down with a historically-bad defense.

Those throws you speak of can be taught through coaching.  You don't need a rocket arm to make those throws.  Those throws are more about timing than anything else.  Hurts wasn't asked to make a ton of those throws but he had several deep balls and deep outs that he completed.  So I'm not sure how this rumor that "Hurts can't make throws" started.  He made them in college and he's already made several at the NFL level.

Do you know what other NFL QB has an arm similar to Hurts' (If not, likely weaker)?   DeShaun Watson.  Do you hear people complaining about Watson not making throws?

Completed just over half of his passes, and scored on 2 of 22 second half possessions.  That is pretty much nothing.

So 4 nfl games is enough to judge a rookie qb now?

I see where you're coming from but no one could have predicted what happened with Wentz this season.  But it doesn't take away from the fact that he was still the franchise QB heading into the season and for most of the season until he was benched.

Let's see what happens with Hurts this season and go from there.  No need to stress over the QB position at this point, imo...especially since it looks like 2021 will likely be a "rebuild season".

Last I saw the rumor was that Texans wanted something like two 1st rounders and two 2nd rounders and a player or something like that

We NEED as many picks as we can get to help this team. Giving them away for 1 player won't help. Who is Watson throwing to? What defense would be helping him?

So he’s just done then. He’s finished. He can’t get better. He is what he is after 4 games in the nfl with a below average team around him. Ok.

Who cares were Murray and Mayfield were drafted? What point are you making? Hurts can’t be as good or better because he wasn’t drafted #1 overall like those guys? That’s a very silly take

Of course he’s not a complete product.  That doesn’t change the fact that he’s a crude run first passer with below average arm talent and an extremely short frame for the position.  If that’s what we are going to hitch our wagon to, well, buckle up.

The Eagles are the laughingstocks of the NFL.

Thanks Howie.

Wentz for rd 1 pk 20.

Pk 6, pk 20, and Ertz for Watson

That and Watson would.have to want to come here.

Again I’m going to make this really simple. You told me this season that 2018 Carson didn’t play like a franchise quarterback. That was you telling me he wasn’t close to 2017.  in 2019 after the Saints game that he wasn’t a franchise quarterback that year and you came on here announcing it. You can’t switch it all the sudden because you wanna defend the Eagles and pretend you didn’t say that in the past. It doesn’t work that way especially when the argument is how many years did they get franchise level quarterback play.

so now you are also changing the argument as well. So he was a franchise quarterback for most of the season. Even though our discussion was how many years did they get franchise level quarterback play over the last 10 years.

Not exactly "hitching our wagon” if he’s on a rookie deal and the team is rebuilding anyways. I’m not suggesting we sign him tomorrow to 5 years 40M. imo he played very well given the circumstances & alot of y’all in here acting like he’s Dwayne Haskins

Don't disagree but Watson is really good.

And on top of all this today the flyers manage to once again blow a lead and then give up 2 goals in less than like 2 mins

Just saying according to some on here he isn’t a franchise QB even though last 3 years he has a 104.5 QB rating, 85 tds and 28 ints, completed 68% of his passes and 3 pro bowls won a playoff games.

This.

Had Hurts been drafted in the 1st round (even later in the 1st round) it wouldn't even be a question whether or not he would be given an opportunity to start next season.  That "imaginary" 1st round pedigree really goes a long way in swaying people's opinions on a player.  Heck, it made Bradford a highly sought after commodity for the majority of his career to the tune of over 100 million dollars.  Had Bradford been picked in the 2nd or 3rd round, would he have been given nearly the amount of opportunities he was given at the NFL level?

At the same time, it's also tends to "hurt"more deserving players from getting more opportunities.  For example, had Nick Foles been a 1st round pick, would the Eagles have likely stuck with him longer vs trading him after he was hurt?

Yes.  Happens all the time.  Sometimes like Hoying they judge incorrectly.  Did you need to see more than four games for Haskins?  Tim Tebow?  Christian Ponder?  Akili Smith?  Kyle Boller?  EJ Manuel?  There are more examples.

Likely not because they gave Chip Kelly all the power in the world and he wanted to get rid of guys that were howie’s picks. If howie had the power and control then I’d probably say yes.

Being the "franchise QB" and playing like a "franchise QB" aren't really the same thing, are they?

And I will easily give you the 2020 season as a year the Eagles did not have a "franchise QB" level of play at the QB position.  And yes, I have stated that during the season.
