I've got my own confirmation bias, and what I saw was a weak roster, made worse by a coaching staff that appears to be bumbling about trying to figure out why their super-awesome plans aren't working. And if I hear anything about 2017 anymore, I might lose my mind. In 2017 we had Reich as OC (gone), DeFilippo as QB coach (gone), Groh at WR coach (gone) in the coaching staff. Each of them was great at what they did. Of that Super Bowl staff in 2017, we really only have Doug, Staley and Stoutland left. Taylor was a glorified coffee runner. Offensive Players: Wentz at MVP level play, power-backs Blount & Ajayi with Clement as unheralded diamond in the rough 3rd down back, Peters at near HoF level, Kelce/Brooks/Johnson at stud levels, with Alshon/Smith/Agholor all playing at competent levels, and Ertz/Celek/Burton as perfect complementary TE trio. Currently, we have aged, old and busted versions of Alshon and Peters. Worn down and aging, yet still effective Kelce. Injured and hoping they return Brooks and Johnson. At TE we have older, aged and perhaps disenchanted Ertz with a more heralded, but less effective backup TE in Goedert. At RB we have oft-injured slasher RB Miles Sanders and a rotation of JAGs, with not a single 'power' back in the mix. And at WR we have... a pile of not much but maybe a little potential. And the cherry on top is that since we've eroded our skill position players each and every year from then until now, we have a QB who's lost his way. The primary issue from 2017 to today is that this team got older, and they have not been able to replace ANY of the aging pieces with a younger version that is even remotely close to what we had then. The front office failed to find quality young (or in their prime) players to bring in (and there were plenty of them available for decent prices), and instead found older, breaking down players at high prices. And the coaching staff has failed to develop any of the young players that have been brought in, and found ways to maximize their talents, rather than trying to fit them into what the coaches want to do. Hurts isn't the answer. Wentz isn't the answer. They are symptoms of the deeper problems with this team. And it all starts with Lurie... he's allowed Howie to become too powerful (remember how that failed miserably with Banner... then with Reid... and now, its Howie's turn)... and Howie has created a ridiculous structure with 18 different voices all with 'say', but without power. He has all the power. Doug wants his coaches to stay, they are dumped the next day. Forcing him to bring in a slew of new and retread (Marty??? ) coaches to collaborate together. The results speak for themselves. And I think that Doug is unsalvageable here. Because any GM you bring in to run things will want his guy at HC, not the leftover guy, Lombardi trophy or not. Doug might leave here, find some good coaches around him that he trusts and get his career back to where it was. Or, he might just go back to working with Reid... like so many others have, and just stay there. But, this team's future with Howie and Doug remaining makes me physically sick to think about. Why are they both still employed? There's going to be a rebound offensively next year, due to the return of Brooks and Johnson for how ever long that lasts... and then... the inevitable will come and it won't be pretty.

The press conference howie had on Monday was basically the same presser he had last year. The birds with friends podcast did an excellent job pointing out he had a lot of quotes being extremely similar from the end of season 2019 that he did this past year. So we are basically in a loop. It’s actually one of their best podcasts of the season. They go into just how bad it is when you listen to the presser and how it’s maddening they keep saying the same thing each year

Doug's a terrible coach and because of it im probably going to retire. The real reason Carson wants to leave is because we have no offensive Identity. Kelce doesn't strike me as the type to give an ish about damage control. Your second sentence is irrelevant to your attempt yesterday to spread McLane's lies without any proof.

There are just certain guys who personify what you want in a player on the team you cheer for. Guys like Brian Dawkins, Brent Celek even Chris Long for as short as his tenure was are what every player should strive to be like when they wear the Eagles uniform.

January 6, 20214 yr 1 hour ago, greend said: I think a good back-up is needed, I don't think Hurts is all that good. But because of his running, I think he could win you a game or two if the team was decent to begin with if a starter goes down. At this stage, Hurts is a guy who can move the chains occasionally with his legs when things break down, or just when he sees a lane. His first instinct is to RUN. And this runs contrary to the nonsense takes from morons like Collinsworth trying to fabricate a different narrative than just comment on what everyone with eyes can plainly see. And I can't believe he did a montage on how great a passer Hurts is when he 'gets in rhythm' in that game. Hurts' second completion wasn't until the 2nd quarter, and he had a grand total of SEVEN completions over 3 quarters. He never found any rhythm in that game. He ran a lot. He scored 2 TDs because he ran a lot. But I am pretty sure that the montage included EVERY completion that Hurts had up to that moment. It was a very short montage. That said, you can win in the short term with that type of QB. Its a very different offense from a more traditional QB, so if you've prepared for one and get the other, he will find some success... as we saw against the Saints. But, that was a great RUSHING performance by Hurts, not a great passing performance. He threw the ball well enough to front run in that game, but not nearly well enough to dig out of any hole. Against the Cards, he struggled early, dug a hole... then dug out a bit in the 2nd quarter, only to hit a brick wall in the 2nd half... again. Dallas was a train wreck game all around. And Washingteam was a train wreck passing game for Hurts. Just brutal. But, as with most young players, and backups... the more they play, the more they are exposed and teams figure them out. The question is how does he respond. How much better can he become? I think his ceiling is top quality backup, or journeyman placeholder "starting" QB while a team waits for their guy. He'll win some games, but I don't think he's a guy that a team will look at and get overly excited about. But, he's clearly an NFL player, I just don't see him ever becoming an NFL 'franchise' QB.
