Wentz doesnt want to deal with Howie it seems.

Right, and he's the GM and we know he's not going anywhere.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Who says they are "committing to Hurts"?   They have a guy they see potential in with in Hurts but there's no way a franchise can evaluate a QB after 4 games without a pre-season.  If the rumor is true that Wentz does not want to be here, what other options do they have at this point?  Obviously they will move forward with Hurts if Wentz is dealt and go from there.

They were committed enough to create quite a fuss by drafting him in round 2.  If they trade Wentz and make him their week 1 starter, that's a commitment.

I'm growing tired of the narrative that the Eagles have been victims of circumstance under Howie's vision.

Hurts is a bad passer and does not project as a particularly good one.  If he's our starting QB, that's on Howie.  I'm not going to just dismiss it as "What other options do they have"?

Your second paragraph is a lot of supposition without any facts (BS).  Wentz has never requested to be traded, and Doug wasn’t fired for a difference of opinion.

facts? national media is the one spreading all of this, why would they lie?

Anybody get confirmation that Wentz and Howie aren't speaking or are we just following rumors again?

I said before Hurts ever went into the starting lineup that I liked the idea of him getting a 4-game audition so the organization can evaluate his ceiling.  Hurts got more of a look than many backup QBs ever get.  What did he show his ceiling to be, a QB that can run for 106 yards one week against a good defense that didn’t game plan for him?  If his performances were inverted — where he started out bad against WFT and DAL, then caught on and improved against better defenses like ARI and NO — maybe he’s got something.  It was the opposite; he started out hot as many #2 QB do with energy off the bench, then NFL DCs (yes, even Mike Nolan) watched his film, set up their defenses accordingly — and Hurts looked bad

Your second paragraph is a lot of supposition without any facts (BS).  Wentz has never requested to be traded, and Doug wasn’t fired for a difference of opinion.

No one in the NFL determines the fate of a developmental, 2nd round pick, rookie QB after 4 games in the NFL, especially when the rookie QB did not have a pre-season and more than half the starters on offense were hurt.  And if they did, most would be "high" on what Hurts showed...not "low" like you are.

Do you know that as a fact that Wentz hasn't requested to be traded?   Because everything that has been reported says otherwise.  Something like that could have been done behind closed doors via his agent, etc.  Requesting to be named the starter or else wanting to be somewhere else is the equivalent of requesting a trade.

There is no urgency for Howie to do anything, he's made it clear they're rebuilding, so he wants the maximum return.

The cap money doesn't matter.

Winning doesn't matter.

What matters is rebuilding the next two years and building a critical mass of talent, if in doing so, you pull a Miami (10-6 after they traded everyone), great.

So it's all about value and figuring out who will be here in 2023.

Wentz has every reason to work his ass off, if no one even considers him worth a late 1st rd pick, his career is in jeopardy.

Siri didn't give him that contract, he doesn't have to play him, so Wentz better impress the new HC if he's still here. Otherwise he'll be #2 for two years before they cut him.

It does seem to be his view over the last three years.

Younger players saw the Carson Wentz that was the worst QB in the NFL.
Older players saw Wentz have an MVP season.

It's not hard to understand why there's a split.

It's not like it was even 5 years ago lol

Pick your shade of green, Wentz won't be wearing it. I mean I don't know why I have to even type this. Color me confused, pun intended

Do you feel the rumors are true that Wentz requested to be the named starter (possibly via his agent) or else preferred to be somewhere else?

Just yanking your chain.  I concede the fact the Eagles haven’t come out and said Wentz isn’t going to be traded likely means a move is coming — but I don’t see it as inevitable.

The two widely reported trade offers (CHI and IND) were both not close to good enough.  If no one steps forward to up the ante, Howie shouldn’t be forced to settle.  Plus, we’re still more than a month away from the start of the 2021 league year.

Schefter, Rapoport, Garafolo, Florio, McLane, Bowen, Mosher, Caplan, and others have all said Wentz wants out.

Not a single reporter has said Wentz wants to be here.

Does that mean they're all right? No. But if your counterargument to Wentz not wanting to be here is "maybe they're all wrong" with no actual evidence to the contrary, then that isn't much of a case.

All have said I guess or I think

The board could do the same thing

I see your point but they could just be repeating what the previous guy said. I chose not to believe it because Wentz seemed like he was more of a fighter.

That is not true, several have reported definitively they've heard he wants out.

This was McLane just a few hours ago.

I usually preface it by saying "as reported".

I’m not saying mclane is wrong but mclane also said he talked to sources with the colts and said they didn’t want wentz. Two days later everyone is saying the colts are very interested and he changes his tune.

i don’t doubt wentz would want to be traded or wants out. However mclane isn’t exactly doing a bang up job lately

Lurie talked about bringing it back but the NFL wouldn’t let him change the color of their helmets to have 2 different color helmets in one season, he’s pushed for that rule to change since 2018 I believe, maybe he finally won.   Just change the helmet colors to one, of these, it’ll work with any color Jersey.

Sorry to hijack Alpha.

If it was just McClane reporting it, (Or just one source)  I wouldn't take it as seriously but the fact that Schefter, Rapoport and just about every other serious NFL reporter are basically saying the same thing, points to the rumor having truth to it, imo.   Those guys do not risk their careers and credibility by putting "false information" out there.

Howie sucks.  This much cannot be argued against.

But.

Let's say you're a team like the Colts, Bears, Saints, Patriots, etc. that desperately need a QB and range from 15th to 28th.  Let's further say that they'd be interested in trading up  for one of Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields and Zach Wilson.  Right now we'd have to assume they'd have to trade up in front of us to have a shot - two of those QB's will most likely be top 3 picks.

Look at the price it would take for any of those teams to make a big move like that.  There is no reason in the world Howie shouldn't be sticking around whatever that price is.  Maybe you knock a little bit off given Wentz's contract and all, but there is no way in hell he should be taking anything too far off of what that package would be.

Now I'm sure too that Howie is driving the price up stupidly high to save his ass and look better.  We won't be getting the moon and stars for Wentz, but garbage like Foles/Cohen/1st is an insult.

Lurie approved the minimum recompense, Howie’s job to get more than that ... IMO

Other than reports do you  and @Alphagrand truly believe Wentz wants to be here in Philadelphia?  Even if he's not guaranteed the starting QB position?
