So when the right tries to pin "corruption" on Biden, just remember..

  1. Trump funneled tens of millions to his properties during his time in office. This was done directly and indirectly.
  2. Refused to provide any level of transparency to understand his potential conflicts of interest.
  3. Refused to in any meaningful way separate himself from his businesses during his time in office.
  4. Was known to have been indebted to foreign entities including Deutsche bank and private Russian oligarchs as sources of capital, as US banks refused to work with him.
  5. Used his office to try to extort Ukraine into providing dirt on Biden.
  6. Appointed his daughter and son-in-law to high-level positions within the White House, with zero qualifications, who then leveraged White House influence and connections to obtain foreign dollars for investments.
  7. Appointed numerous ambassadorships and government positions to large donors, also with zero qualifications.

This was well above and beyond the typical run-of-the-mill political corruption. It was brazen and in-your-face. But because the right-wing base loved Trump and refused to hold him accountable, it's overlooked or downplayed reflexively.

It's laughable to try and compare whatever sort of corruption or glad-handing happening under Biden with the professional grift that we endured from 2017-2020.

Don't forget that Kushner was denied security clearance because he's an intelligence risk, and Trump used the power of the office of the presidency to override it.

while all of this is bad, to be fair it doesn't hold a candle to the number of stockings on Biden's mantle. #stockinggate #neverforget

I mean, the above doesn't even get into the 2020 election - which is more treasonous than corrupt - or the findings of the Mueller report which did not "exonerate" Trump. Hell the Mueller report was a litany of abuses of office worse than what Nixon was impeached for.

I can come to only two conclusions from the Mueller report: The Trump campaign was aiding foreign influence in the election, or they were too stupid and careless to know what Russia was up to.

There was wink-and-nod help happening. Which, honestly, is probably more unethical than it is illegal. Though I'm not a lawyer.

Basically Putin & co. were definitely trying to game social media to help Trump. And Trump's team - with or without his direct knowledge - did give some material support to Russian intelligence sources in the form of polling data IIRC. There's nothing to support Russia "switching votes" in the sense that votes for Clinton were flipped in voting machines or anything that direct, but there was certainly an influence on social media felt (and one that continues to be felt).

All Mueller determined was there was no specific conspiracy that he could substantiate based on what information he had. And he even added the caveat that he was not given access to the campaign team in a way that would have made that more clear.

Where there was much more of a smoking gun was in obstruction-of-justice. It was clear that Trump committed numerous acts that legally constituted obstruction, but Mueller declined to make a recommendation based on the OLC guidance - which most legal experts believed he was being far too deferential in doing. Had he been more forceful it would have been more difficult for Barr to whitewash the report and set the narrative to solidify in the public's mind before the full report was released, which was far more damning than Barr's crap memo.

It's the latter. They were too stupid and ignorant to actually be part of some complicated plot. They were just useful idiots used by Russian intelligence.

That is my take on it, too.

Either way, being involved in such shenanigans is not presidential IMO.

Russian intelligence knew this. They didn't want to involve someone with diarrhea of the mouth (Trump) in any schemes because 1. There was nothing to be gained because they already have plenty of leverage on Trump, and 2. His stupid ass would have been a liability because he can't shut up.

I think Flynn definitely knew what he was doing.
