Honestly, all the people who want an end to the two-party system should be cheering for the death of this party, rather than its resurrection. It's just too far-gone to be part of anything other than destruction of representative institutions. Disintegration of the GOP is the most likely path to the emergence of multiple, viable alternatives that will, in turn, force the Democrats to re-think their own approach to the electorate. It would almost surely lead to an era of prolonged Democratic control of the legislative and executive branches, but ultimately, I think the result would be a more variegated political landscape that impels us to reform our electoral process into something more responsive to 21st-Century needs. Consolidation and continued polarization of the two-party system will only lead to more inequality and a government that is increasingly ineffectual and unresponsive to the body politic, which can only lead to greater domestic strife and chaos. The minority party needs to break down and become more appealing to the majority of voters to break the monopoly on political pragmatism and sensibility that Democrats are being handed by right-wing extremism. Moving further to the fringe will only reinforce the coalesence of a left-liberal coalition driven more by fear of a common enemy than unity around common dreams.

There is a value in a party having a history. That history can provide a counterbalance and a north star to get a wayward party back into the vicinity of sanity.

The creation of a new party out of the old I think would end up doubling down on the bad parts of the existing party. New parties need energy to catch on, and the enthusiasm is still with the crazy wing.

Better to try and have the moderates reclaim and reform the party, and keep the crazy wing marginalized and under their thumb.

Don Jr. is not qualified to sit as VEEP. Tim Scott would be my choice. There are literally hundreds of better choices. If Donny goes head to head with DeSantis, I think DeSantis wins that battle. If I were him, I wouldn't be looking to make deals with Donny to give his idiot son a seat at the table. And IF that's the route they went, I'd have far more faith in Ivanka than Jr.

I don’t think trump cares if Don jr is VP or not but being qualified doesn’t matter in politics anymore.

The fight should be about Trump but there is a good chance several of the pro-Trump Senators will be successful in making it about ole Mitch instead.  Going to be interesting.

I was reading through /r/conservative, and pretty surprised to find that the prevailing sentiment is against Trump. He's being blamed for picking candidates too extreme and lacking broad appeal, losing independents and moderates.

Mitch isn't exactly getting a lot of love either but it's Trump getting the haymakers.

Hard to tell if these are closet never-Trumpers feeling emboldened or just people reading the tea leaves.. but when a political cult finds out that its demagogue is a fraud, the shift can be swift and brutal.

The likes of Hawley and Cruz are trying to turn this one against Mitch.  They see their chance.

If they do, and in doing so they're doubling down on MAGA, it's just going to keep costing Republicans elections.

It's hardly surprising that the perennial losers in the Republican establishment would use this disappointing election to try to wrest back the power that they deservedly lost by blaming it on Trump.  Then Trump decided to go out there and be himself and help them make their case.  Yo, Donald, do yourself a favor and

Seems to me that we have four or five groups in this country at the moment.  Progressive left, center left, independent (assuming they don't fold into one of the others), center right and MAGA right.  It will be interesting to see as Donald Trump eventually fades if the MAGA crowd stays engaged and comes center.  Likewise, can the moderate left take back more control from the progressive agenda.  If neither of these things happen then I see a clear path to a "moderate party".

Putting the obvious financial problems aside, the issues like abortion and gun control really stand in the way of moderation.  Moderates (left and right) just don't seem willing to budge on these.  There has to be willingness to move on the social issues for a moderate party to really take hold.

The party won't build something new until Trumpism is removed from their ranks.

So now Republicans all of the sudden are trying to claim they care about Deficit. Can't get back on that train after the huge GOP Spending in the Bush, and Trump years. Hypocrites. claim to be fiscally responsible, but in reality, they spend Just as much and Dems. I don't believe anything that party says or does.

So now limp wrist Lindsay has jumped on the bandwagon to delay the Minority Leader vote and go after Mitch.

What's next? more mental illness it seems.

Trump as Speaker of the House, who comes up with this stuff.  Comes up around 1/2 way thru vid.

Conservative firebrand Candace Owens says Trump being rude to her made her realize he's vengeful, paranoid, and lacked humility

All it took for the Great GOP awakening to the reality of Trump, is losing.

Candace, you are a pathetic shill who has spent years lying for Donald. While I am glad you finally realize he is a scumbag, you don't seem to get that you are a scumbag too.

Weird watching the sycophants and grifters "suddenly" realize that Trump is a piece of crap only after it became apparent he's a political liability.

Man indicted in Okeana neighbor homicide; 911 caller says ‘he thought he was a Democrat’

https://www.journal-news.com/crime/court-docs-man-charged-in-okeana-homicide-admitted-to-shooting-neighbor/R4FEIMGN6BEBVPN2DBWI4XCGR4/

Quote

According to the son, the neighbor "has come over multiple times making statements. He’s insane.”

The caller’s mother is sobbing in the background, and the dispatcher tells them to stay inside and keep the doors locked.

The victim’s wife then tells the dispatcher they were cutting grass and working in the yard when she came inside to let the dog out. That’s when she heard gunshots, she said.

"I look in the backyard and that man is walking away from my husband, and my husband is on the ground,” the woman says "He has come over like four times confronting my husband because he thought he was a Democrat. Why, why … Please, I don’t understand.”

Thought he was Democrat. Uh huh.

They think this guy is ready to be senator?
