I wrote a paper for my history class defending the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the same age. Dumb kids are gonna say dumb things and everyone should be given a chance to grow up and learn from their mistakes. You didn't grow up to raise a high profile objection against a democratically elected president on dubious grounds.

The Senate seat could just as easy go to Gym Jordan or some other nutso MAGA-party guy....It seems the radicalization of GOP continues, as moderates go by the wayside. Curious timing to announce retirement, a whole 2 years before the election. I agree with you. Ohio in the last ten years went from a bellwether purple state to a deep red state. It’s pretty much Arkansas at this point.

January 27, 20214 yr Since @Gannan is killing this thread like OAN covers a trump insurrection... Lets change the topic. As a proud Gun owner, why ... after 30+ years of increased gun rights... minus trumps ban on bumpstocks... are nut jobs buying up all the ammo in fear? Is the Republican base going to ever figure out this is a scare tactic by republicans? I mean... more guns and ammo have been bought and sold under Obama and pre-Biden than can be distributed to stores. Meanwhile, trump put in place more gun restrictions than both combined. I mean... overturning the 2nd amendment is more difficult than overturning roe vs wade... and as you can see... here in the real world... that hasn’t happened yet. If a political parties strategic plan is to keep the truth from their voters, they should be eliminated. I’m not a fan of that, I prefer MORE parties/candidates to choose from.
January 27, 20214 yr To inspire more debate: Is the Republican Party going to stop lying to their voters and save the party? I don’t want the democrats to run away unchecked either...

January 27, 20214 yr "What's next for the Republican Party?" Well if no one else is gonna post it, I guess I have to:
January 27, 20214 yr Our latest POLITICO-Morning Consult poll has fresh data that underscores what McConnell faced: — Over half of Republican voters (56%) believe that Trump should either probably or definitely run for president again in 2024. Just over a third of Republican voters (36%) think he probably or definitely should not. — Republicans and Republican-leaning independent voters are closely split between the Republican Party and the notional Patriot Party that Trump recently floated. A third (33%) said they are more interested in being a member of the Republican Party, and 30% said they would be more interested in being a member of the Patriot Party. A small share (11%) expressed interest in neither party.
