Are we really knocking Ron DeSantis' speaking skills when we have people like Walker and Fetterman running for office?

It's wasn't meant as a knock on DeSantis. He's not a terrible speaker like Walker. He's just got the charisma of a soggy loaf of bread. Which doesn't matter to me much (I voted for Hillary and Biden after all)  but it's more a question about how it stacks up vs a guy who just spurts outrageous crap constantly.

They didn't have to run against Trump, the ultimate carnival barker. Trump will just be bombastic and outrageous, and morons will love it. The question is can Ron stand out, or is he Jeb v2.0?

Yeah that's a great example.

I watched his speech after the governor's race being called. No, he's not a loudmouth ahole like Trump, but he's far more personable than Jeb. But I get your point. Watching Trump's speech last night, I only made it about 5 minutes. He's nauseating.

Truth.

Not even the establishment wants him. Legally, until he is convicted I'm not sure they can stop him right now. DeSantis doesn't seem like he would want any part of a circus by jumping in and it's hard to blame him. The local GOP in some states may suspend the primary in his favor and does anyone think if Trump loses he won't take his football and go home crying how he got robbed? His followers will go with him and it will be a crap show. All the Dems have to do at this point to win in 2024 is show up.

Oh, I don't know. They are excellent at shooting themselves in the foot.

The left/center wing of the GOP is out. Females are out. Independents are out. Some of the rest of us are debating staying home. I'm not sure how anyone can screw that up on the Dem side.

But I'm not sure who people expect to say "you can't run" or what power they would hold to do so at this point that could be backed up legally. The first step is getting some of the state GOP leaderships back. Even then I don't expect DeSantis to want to run with the zoo it would be. The only path forward is for someone to convict him.

He didn't have to ask the audience to clap so he got that on ol Jeb that's for sure.

Or say to them, "clap, you Bastids" like Grampy Joe.

I wish they would. The F-Face sat there on the 6th, and did nothing but watch the violence unfold while he did nothing.

Man, after 2016, I'm not kicking up my feet.  I've already had thoughts of "What happens if Biden just f***in croaks in the middle of his campaign?" "What if a GOP House throws so many stupid Hunter Biden conspiracies into the mix that people start buying it?"  "What if birds aren't real?"   With the MAGA wing of our politics, you can't just worry about gaffes from a Dem politician, you have to worry about all possible conspiracy theories that might pick up steam.

The GOP goal will be to throw so much muck into the system that you're sick and tired of the government entirely, thus too exhausted to vote Dem. And hopefully angry enough to vote GOP.

But I think that's a small percentage of the GOP. Yeah, the conspiracy theories fly around and some aggregate sites don't help. The "vengeance is mine" wing got fired up in 2016 but that is pretty played out at this point outside of his supporters.

No, it's not. As of two months ago, 60% of GOP voters still literally think Trump was robbed in 2020. It's mental illness. It's a cult. It's antithetical to democracy.

I could be wrong but I don't think the voting on vengeance wing is that large. Either way I think that message has lost it's appeal to the people in the middle he got in 2016 as we just saw a week ago. Dems don't have anything to worry about in 2024.

You *stupid* bastids. C'mon man get it right.

I'm willing to bet that the mid-term results lower that % significantly. As did that awful "announcement" speech last night. And if that doesn't work, hopefully he's wearing more orange than just his spray tan soon.

Deluded cultists will suddenly stop believing elections are being stolen from them due to...   *checks notes* them losing the mid-term elections.

Ya that tracks.

Yes.  He is dull.

To a large degree the GOP is screwed unless he is convicted and can't run. If they force him out of the primary he cries rigged and his people stay home and Dems win. If DeSantis runs and beats him he will cry rigged and his people stay home and Dems win. They need the independents and females they will lose if Trump runs and at the same time can't win in states like GA, PA, WI, and AZ with the margins being so close if his loyal followers stay home. Screwed.

I'm saying as his approval rating drops even lower, some of that 60% are finally going to wake up to how full of ish he is.

We don't need one because that stuff isn't important to us. "Rally size" and "energy" are Republican priorities now.

Guess I just don't find him dull. And I'm curious as to who you think would be less dull to run against him if he miraculously comes out of the primaries as the nom for the general?
