January 4, 20233 yr My dream would be centrists of both parties breaking and electing a unity speaker. Jim Webb would be a hilarious option that would work.

Obviously not working on getting the votes needed. Reap what you sow. What a sham of a party. Will they ever get their ish together?
January 4, 20233 yr The new Truth Free GOP. This POS is lying about being sworn in. There is nothing he won't lie about, and his supporters, apparently, don't care.
January 4, 20233 yr Day 2 of the Government Shut down where 20 Republicans are more interested in having a non functioning government than they are in doing the people's business. I bet this goes to day 3 and beyond. If pearl harbor happened today, the Congress wouldn't be able to declare war because they don't have a Speaker of the House. Talk about dangerous.

January 4, 20233 yr Trump is rallying his troops on Truth Social The problem is, House Freedom Caucus is reportedly asking for real concessions: committee appointments, rules changes, etc. McCarthy seems to think he can win the gavel without all 218 votes. If members start voting 'Present' today, Jeffries gets to a majority before McCarthy based on the votes yesterday . It will be interesting to see how this gets resolved.
January 4, 20233 yr The tension between leading the House and leading the GOP caucus has been developing since Rep. Newt Gingrich of Georgia led the Republican Revolution during the 1994 midterms. That year, the GOP reclaimed a House majority for the first time since 1955. Since then, Gingrich and three other Republicans have served as speaker. All but one were forced from the position thanks to rebellions in their ranks.
