I’ll have to add driving across the Arkansas border and screaming "Latinax” at the top of my lungs to my "to do” list.

This is hilarious

I’m not sure what they wear in Sweden, but every woman I know in America wears clothes that show their arms.  Like half of my wife’s wardrobe is sleeveless shirts / dresses.

Yeah I get it. I think we should aim to do away with the sex/gender based rules. No doubt there needs to be some exceptions but this doesn’t seem like one of them.

Republicans want to take away Social Security because they believe you want to work longer into old age.

New Mexico GOP candidate was arrested for rash of shootings at Democrats homes and offices.

Law and Order party!

They may be that, but we also do need to raise the eligibility age for SS. It should be tied to life expectancy of 60-year olds.

Basing it on general life expectancy is not reasonable because that's from birth. a healthy 60 year old is expected to live to about 81 currently, whereas a healthy 21 year old is expected to live to 76.

A healthy 65 year old man is expected to live to 83; a woman 86.

SS is not built to support ~20 years. It is solvent if you have enough workers to support the retired class, but that retired class is huge compared to the working age population.

Nobody in our generation should have the expectation of retiring with SS benefits at 65. It should be like 72 frankly.

I'm not arguing that. SS is unsustainable. But the whole "people don't want to retire" is about as ridiculous as well every other gop talking point. They aren't going to win over the demographics that don't vote for them with that kind of argument.

72 sounds about right, but it has to be an argument about solvency and fiscal responsibility. Not "Work sets you free" lol

Being over 60 now, the only way I see myself retiring is if I'm living with one of my kids paying them minimal rent and I can afford supplemental insurance and my beach cottage. Car expenses too naturally.  As long as I'm well and feeling good, I simply have no plans whatsoever to quit working until I keel over.  Better for me to have the higher salary and benefits.

Problem with this is that voters don't actually care about federal spending/solvency.  Republicans pretend to care, but they're all liars who  know they can use it as a bludgeon to hurt Dems.  They're 100% on board with it as long as it's Republicans spending.

They (boomers) are 100% on board as long as they're dead before the bill comes due.

Jan 16 (Reuters) - An unsuccessful Republican state House candidate in New Mexico was arrested on Monday and accused of orchestrating recent shootings at four local elected officials' homes, the Albuquerque Police Department said.

Police said on Monday they had arrested Solomon Pena, 39, and accused him of conspiring with, and paying, four other men to shoot at the homes of two county commissioners and two state legislators, all Democrats. Police said they had evidence Pena had fired some shots.

Has Mike posted in the past 48 hours?

Republicans are going to let the economy crash, without really knowing the consequences of default on the debt. Get Ready.

Raising the debt is for money already spent and not for future spending
